Taking a break from the drive, I stopped in here for a beer and a snack. The beer was good, sitting at the bar was comfortable and the pizza looked tremendous. The only problem was the wifi seemed to be a bit iffy, dropping after a while. No worries for me as I had the hotspot ready. Service was attentive and the seating was comfortable. The wings were great! They were nice and big and cooked well. The pizza was better than expected and my son enjoyed the chicken tenders More than enough parking all around and everyone was really nice. First timer here. It was really good. I was eating by myself. I had a slice of the McDowell cheeseburger pizza. The slice is from the large pizza. The crust was really good. I also had a Amici Cesar salad, it was also really good. The bartender server was also a really nice guy. He explained the menu and was patient with me. I nostalgically stopped in with memories of Amici's early days on the Main Street in a smaller space with an uneven floor and a couple of steps up off the street level. And, while the new space is much more comfortable and convenient, the food has slipped, a lot. My calzone was cold and while I ordered a cheese only calzone, there was nothing exciting about coldish mozzarella. I was expecting a nice fluffy ricotta with melted mozzarella. I ordered the onion ring basket- they were ok- not as exciting as I thought they would be. Admittedly, I ordered some really run of the mill items so that's on me but the sauce was obviously out of a giant metal can and the special dipping sauce for the rings was ketchup. I enjoyed the pizza and I'm very picky about pizza. I would definitely return. The service was excellent even above the food. We will definitely go again JR the bartender was great and extremely knowledgeable about the food and drinks. It was busy but still had a good ambiance. Word to the wise - call ahead to see if any special events or themes are happening, and AVOID comedy night at all costs! My hubby and I ended up here one night for a long awaited date night and unbeknownst to us it was their inaugural "comedy" night. They clearly did not put any research into their selections of comedians for the night, and the entire thing was a flop. An awkward, horrible flop! Even the comedians knew they were striking out. It was so awkward we finally got up and left mid meal which brought our date night to an end a lot earlier than we anticipated. Pleasantly surprised at the great taste of my slice of the "Athenian" pizza! Flavorful and generous portion ($6.50). I also had an order of 6 lemon-pepper wings ($10.50). They were ok, IMO, nothing special. Served with celery slices and choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing. Service was poor. Had to go up to the bar to get another drink as the waitress didn't come back to check on us after the food was delivered. Very busy establishment on a Saturday night. I LOVE Amici, so I hate to have to complain. However, this is the second time in less than a month I've had subpar to go orders. A week or so ago I ordered a pepperoni pizza that looked like it had been cooked an hour or so before I picked it up. And it wasn't really cut so I had to reheat it and cut it. Now tonight, I've got a burnt calzone that was already a "remake" (i didn't ask why it needed to be remade, I was just ready to leave with food). I would love some good, and consistent pizza! Lunch for 2 took an hour and a half. We ordered an appetizer and it never came (we were not charged for it tho after commenting that we'd not received it). Our food came an hour and ten minutes after we arrived (including the 15 minute wait to be seated). Cobb salad had way too much corn relish like 4 times what I would consider being a topping for a salad. It took over the salad. The fried onions were cold but cooked well and lightly coated and not greasy at all. The blue cheese dressing was weird... like it had too much mayo. Ate lunch here on Saturday. Our server was nice & attentive with drink refills. We ate outside but they have a very spacious inside with a large bar. I can only give 3 stars b/c I wasn't impressed with the food. We first asked for calamari as an app & then changed our mind to the spinach & artichoke dip. They brought the calamari accidentally so I told them we'd eat it anyway b/c I didn't want it to go to waste. But our server brought the spinach dip as well. I didn't care for either one. The calamari was very rubbery & the plate was about 1/2 calamari and 1/2 fried peppers (maybe banana?). The dipping sauce was like a hot & sour sauce, but it was bland to me. The chips that came with the spinach dip weren't crunchy at all & there weren't many on the plate. They tasted as if they'd been out of the fryer for quite some time & had gotten soggy. The spinach dip wasn't very good either. We also ordered the Woodsman pizza. It tasted fine but the slices were very soggy/floppy in the middle. I visit Madison once or twice a year for a girls' lunch. I won't suggest that we visit Amici in the future. read more

First, the people that work at Amici are Awesome! All very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was terrific. However, the (Philly) Cheese Steak was beyond terrible. The cook did not have a good handle on how to cook a traditional cheese cake in my opinion. If you think that a cheese steak should have tons of minced garlic in it, then you will love this cheese steak. If you love water from thick cuts of onion....soaking up your roll, you will love this cheese steak. I am not sure about this next statement....probably just me....but I tasted soy sauce (again, it may just be me), and it tasted awful. Obviously, I do not recommend the cheese steak. read more

We were here on a Saturday for lunch. We are vacationing in the area, and picked a place at random. We weren't thinking pizza, but I'm so glad we stopped here! The pizzas are delicious, and our server Dee was great! The pizza crust is thin and very tender. They have great specialty pizzas, I had the Blonde Greek and my husband had the Beefeater. Was visiting Madison and the wife was shopping so I opted to grab a beer and watch some championship football. The place was slammed last Saturday and I barely got in. I love everything about this place! The wings are great, the pizza and calzones are delicious, and the dough balls are addictive! On my most recent visit we had Trinity as our server and she was awesome! She had a great attitude and plenty of knowledge on the menu. She recommended the Dough Balls with the sauce on the side as a dessert and they were scrumptious! If you get the wings get them drizzled with honey, it amps up the flavor! Not a great experience at all. We had a party of six and was told the wait was 15-20. We waited over 30 minutes. Service was terrible and we had to ask for about everything we needed. No side plates, no silverware, no refills on drinks, they got the pizza order wrong and everything took forever. Worst thing to top it all off was that the pizza wasn't fully cooked, it tasted like a frozen pizza and the toppings were all wrong. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good enough to come back. Amici's in Madison has some damn good Honey-Garlic Wings; that's what we ordered when we stopped by there on our way to Atlanta. These wings are serious; they are bigger than wings I've had at other restaurants and the flavor of the hot sauces mixed with the honey and the garlic complements them very well. We were on our way home from game day in Athens on 9/14/19 and decided to stop to eat at Amici. Bad decision. The place wasn't very busy, but it took almost 10 minutes for our server to greet us and take our drink orders. Five minutes later, I got the beer I ordered, but my husband and daughter were still waiting on their sodas. When our server finally brought their soda, she then decided to take our food other. We ordered standard items, with no special requests. It took over 25 minutes our food to be served. My husband liked his Philly cheesesteak and fries. My daughter liked her chicken fingers and fries. My tortellini Alfredo was lukewarm and grainy, with chewy pasta. I would have expected that an Italian restaurant could at least get tortellini Alfredo right. However, Amici did not get it even close to right. We won't be back. read more

I ordered the chicken Parmesan sub sandwich. It took it a half hour to arrive and when it did it was lukewarm at best. The Breaded chicken was chopped into such small bits there was no breading really left on the pieces that I did eat. the marinara was completely flavorless. And if you get the house salad I do not recommend their creamy Italian dressing. It was more like congealed Italian dressing and was thicker than Elmers glue. I did try a flight of their house peers and out of the four , the Saison was the only beer that really had any kind of flavor to it that was totally light and overly fruity in aroma and flavor.
