We used Amigo Movers recently to move our household items that were in storage temporarily to our new home. They came highly recommended by family members that had used them in the past. I was a little skeptical because they don't have a website, don't have a lot of reviews, and you have to communicate with them over the phone. After comparing their quote with other moving companies they were way cheaper. I was still skeptical, but my wife had a good feeling about them so we went with them. I am so glad that we did. They arrived at the storage facility early and got to work. They got the truck loaded and were on the road faster than I expected. They did an equally good job unloading and placing everything exactly where we wanted it. They also did a great job reassembling a very unique dining room table that has a number of moving parts. The table was disassembled by another moving company and I never had any assembly instructions. These guys did a great job reassembling the table. There were a couple of times they noticed that some of the pieces were not 100% lining up right so they kept adjusting so that it was perfect. I really appreciated their attention to detail. Also in hindsight, A lot of the other moving companies required a significant amount of information which I thought was overkill. It was actually easier talking with Amigos and explaining the job. Overall they were very professional, did an outstanding job for a reasonable price. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them. read more

I used this company twice before (in 2007 and 2009). This was when they charged a set price for any number of hours. The price was reasonable and they were efficient. I recommended them to everyone that I knew was moving. We recently had a move scheduled so I decided to use them again. Now the company charges a price for up to 3 hours and each additional hour is extra. Since they were previously so efficient I decided to use them. It was a very costly regret. Three movers showed up late. At any one time, not all three of them worked. Two would work and the other would lounge about. There was no sense of urgency in their movement. It was as if they purposefully took their time to increase the price. To make matters worse, they claimed they couldn't get all the boxed in the truck even though there were only a few left. I saw that there was room in the truck and when I protested, I was told there was no way they could add additional boxes. So they ended up doing 2 trips. The cost? $1200. Even with the extra hours, I expected to pay about $600 max. The entire experience was not a good one and I thought they were dishonest with taking their time to increase the price. I called Amigo Movers to move all the furniture from my house (which I am selling) to another place 45 miles away. They told me they would be at my place at 8 am. They arrived at 7:25 am, half an hour early! Then they moved through my house quickly, hustling the whole time, picking up my furniture pieces and putting them on the truck. When their truck arrived at the destination, they again wasted no time, rapidly putting all the items where we needed them to be. Great service. Very knowledgeable movers. They moved my belongings from a townhome to an apartment and then the rest to a storage facility. They charge per hour but worked super fast unlike other companies. They knew exactly what they were doing. Took minutes to break down and put together funiture. I was amazed! No hidden fees either such as fuel, supplies, admin fees, etc. They even hauled away my super heavy (requires two strong men to move) tube TV for $20! A friend referred me to this company. I took a chance on a company with almost no reviews and no website. I love this company. I cannot say enough good things about them and will recommend them to all my friends and family for a move. They were over $200 cheaper than what any other company in the DC area quoted me. I was pretty sure the company would be some illegally operating company with no insurance and very little skill. I was wrong! They called about two hours early to confirm. They arrived ten minutes early. They brought a huge company truck and actually had insurance. My furniture is mostly old college furniture, but they let me know when things were loose or had pieces that may get lost. They worked quickly and tirelessly. They had lots of dollies and hand trucks and they wrapped my furniture in plastic. All included in the price. In hindsight, I probably should of gotten three guys for my move as my one bedroom was near 1000 square feet. But the two that worked with me were awesome. Truly a grade A company. Sidenote: when you call to book you have to leave a voicemail. But they will get back to you and are very flexible on scheduling. Try them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

Beware! We used them for our recent move, they arrived 2 hours late after me calling no one thought to call me to inform me they were late. My husband ended up helping and moving most items since our truck needed to back at certain time and there was no sense of urgency. They brought 3 guys since they were late to ensure it would be done in time, 1 guy never worked and they prolonged the process. Several items were broken and I was blamed that they were broken before they touched items. Mask were not worn and one even had the audacity to use my daughter's bathroom without even asking . I would never reccomend to anyone, customer service sucks. RUN! read more

I really cannot recommend these guys enough. They offered a competitive bid; not the dead cheapest, but pretty close. I could not be happier with the result. They arrived at the agreed time and ready to go. They had a big truck, as well, so it was just one trip. These guys made the experience much easier than it has ever been for me. I reluctantly agreed to have professional movers assist us on the last move....I'm a thousand times happier as a result. We moved from 20906 to 20912 (about 8 miles one way) from a 2br apartment. The cost was $415 for a little over 4 hours of service. The moving assistants were helpful and patient. We only had one casualty: a cheap picture frame...so overall I would say they're very good. BE WARNED!! This was truly the WORST moving experience I've EVER had! They showed up with 3 guys but I was told over the phone there would be two guys so the $295.00 for the first 3 hours then $95 every hour thereafter suddenly turned into $395.00 for the first 3 hours then $95 every hour thereafter so that was the FIRST STRIKE! Then they could barely speak English but thank God I had a girlfriend there who spoke fluent Spanish and was able to translate. One of the guys barely spoke English so he just ignored me when I tried to direct him on where I wanted my furniture which I thought was VERY RUDE!! When I asked my girlfriend what he was saying she told me he was talking badly about me...RIGHT IN MY FACE!! This was unacceptable and BAD CUSTOMERS SERVICE and I let the lead guy know. This why I hate being in a room with people that don't speak English becaues they talk about you right in front of your face knowing you haven't a clue as to what they're saying!! Then they claimed they couldn't move me in 3 hours but needed 6 hours which would double the fee...STRIKE TWO!! I said "no way", just move the heavy items and I'll move the rest in my car (took four trips but between my family and I (1 car, 1 SUV and 1 Pathfinder) we were able to do it - took a while but we did it! Then, believe it or not, they broke one of my televisions and was only willing to discount me $60.00...STRIKE THREE!! Also, they didn't lay anything down on the carpet in my new home so dirt was stained all throughout my home in EACH ROOM!! They only wrapped a few items and when I asked why they said "no worries, it won't break"!! Yeah RIGHT, Tell that to my t.v., may it rest in peace!! Then...yes, there's more...they REFUSED to attach my headboard back to the bed frame. They put the head board against one wall and the frame/box spring against another! The lead guy went back and forth with me claiming there were no screws and that's how the bed was when they got there...NOT!! Then all of a sudden he didn't speak English, VERY FRUSTRATING!! I explained that my bed was not laying against the wall when they arrived and they needed to figure out how to reattach it. Needless to say they magically found the screws and reattached my headboard to the bed frame and apologized saying they were TIRED...really???????????? I plan on writing a letter to the company and the Better Business Bureau!! Even if nothing comes of it I feel better knowing I could help someone else in the future. Amazing! We previously book another moving company who got great reviews on yelp, but they canceled on us due to family problems. So, I was frantic, and I didn't know who to choose, because the previous quote was so cheap. But, I looked around and Dos Amigos got a good review although it was only one. I was hesitant to book with them, because of the only one review. I do not regret that decision at all. The charge $285 for the first 3 hrs for 3 guys and a truck and $85/hr after the first three. They do not charge a travel fee, which is hard to find. That is another reason why I chose to book with them, because I was moving from NW DC to Silver Spring, MD. They were phenomenal. They were there bright and early. They moved my stuff so quickly and efficiently--it was a amazing. It took about 5 hrs for a one bedroom apartment move (including travel) and that was only because my previous apartment would gave them a lot of hassle (about 30 minutes worth). There were three guys, one leader and two others who worked effortlessly as a team. If I have to make a dreaded move again, I will choose them without a doubt. read more

I used this company Nov 2015. Although I thought they were friendly and responsive to getting a move scheduled, the move did not go so well. I felt like one of the guys was lazy and I saw more than one get on his phone several times. Also, after my move, I noticed several items destroyed - a flat screen tv now has lines going through screen so you can't get a clear picture. It will have to be thrown away. A file cabinet apparently was dropped on its face because a drawer is dented and no longer opens as it did. I saw one of my bins get dropped and a glass container broke, while several other dishes fell out. My headboard and sideboards are upholstered but did not get wrapped before the move so they are now dirty, where they used to be an off white color. I noticed many items are left with scratches and marks that could have been prevented had they just taken the time to clear wrap and handle with more care. I thought I used AM before and it was nothing like this, but maybe I'm confusing for a different company. I won't ever use again and I don't recommend. Management should consider who they are hiring and demand higher standards. It results in not only money lost for them, but reputation. I did call to report the damaged items and was told management had to come out to see what was damaged before they would refund, but I didn't have the time in my schedule as I am out of town often. Plus, they come out and say what? That they won't pay because they can't confirm it was already done? No thank you. I don't have time to waste. I charge it to the game but I won't use again and I write this review to alert others to my experience. read more

Absolutely awful. I am nine months pregnant and they canceled on me the night before my move. Their truck broke down and they were going to rent another truck to do the job, but because i did not call them back right away, they said they took it as me canceling the move. They did not call me to tell me their truck was broken until 6:15pm the night before the move. I tried to call them back at 7:12pm and they had canceled my move, leaving me completely stuck. Finally decided to hire a professional mover. What a disaster. Seems like the guy runs the company from his cell phone. I initally contacted the owner using my work phone. Every returned call came back to my office phone eventhough I repeatedly left him my cell phone. This included the call to let me know he was going to be late 2.5 hours, which turned into 4 hours. When they got to my place it was after 6pm. With most of our stuff going into storage which closed at 9pm, I either had to reschedule the entire move or take all the stuff to the temporary place we are staying at and do another move to storage. The next available schedule was 5 days later but since I had already given notice to the landlord and had already taken 2 days off from work to pack reschedule was not an option. So decided to do the latter and do a second move. They worked through the night and when the truck filled up, there was still quite a few items. I asked if they can come back and move them the next day. Their response was that it was going to cost another $225 to make the second trip. In the end, I had a basement full of stuff to move to storage myself and still had to make several trips to clear the old place. I would have gladly paid twice the money I thought I was saving by going with this guys to avoid the mess. read more
