This place used to be really nice but lately it's turning into a dirty dump .beer shelves are empty and when I asked for a certain beer that I was looking for they said go in the cooler and look ! Floors are dirty and you can tell the store is being neglected, it's sad because this used to be the place to go. read more

Update, since the bourbon boom, the owners have decided to charge 4x-10x more than retail for their higher end bourbons. $400 for a $60 bottle no thanks. I asked for a specific bottle and was brought into a back office by the manager where they had all the "good stuff". Each bottle was grossly overpriced. When I mentioned that to him, he said it was the owners doing. They used to be my go to, now they are my dont even bother. read more

I was stopping to get coffee next door. This place is so MASSIVE, I had to go in. And they did not disappoint. Options galore. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I was looking for. But, I won't hold that against them, I can't seem to find this specific bottle of wine anywhere in CT. I've been to several places all over the state, nobody stocks it. I love that I was able to wander the aisles without feeling like I was being watched or hovered over. The staff was friendly. When I looked a little lost a young man came up to ask if I needed help. As I headed to the door empty handed an older gentleman asked if I needed help. I don't have time today, but I'll be back to wander some more & actually make a purchase. I saw a lot Pinot Noir's I'd love to try. And I want to check out the whisky aisle. In my haste, I did not analyze prices. I'll update after I revisit. read more

I always have a positive experience at this package store. I'm a big craft beer guy, every so often I pop in just to look around and see what they have. Always a decent selection. The service is always polite and friendly. I don't think I have ever been in and out without someone asking if they could help me find something. I would always rather say no thanks then be looking around for a person to find out if they have what I want. Amity is a convenient, well stocked package store with great service. read more

They have a huge selection of wine, beer, and liquor at bargain prices. The owner is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. In addition, they are at a convenient location on Whitney Avenue in Hamden. This is my favorite package store in Greater New Haven. read more

Don't go here if you have an out of state license. The owner refused to service me at my purchase of two singles of craft beer because I have a Valid Ohio ID. It wasn't even like I was buying a cart full of Natty. read more

This might be my new favorite package store, and I love that it's right down the road from Quinnipiac. Awesome selection of wine and beer - and great prices. We've gotten quality, really good double bottles of wine for cheap, and beers here seem to cost less than other local liquor stores. Also, Amity has a list of Monday and Tuesday specials, where 30 racks are a good $2-3 cheaper than normally, and according to the sign outside, they'll match local advertised prices. read more

Have aways gone to this place since living in Hamden. Pretty good beer selection and they get some rare ones. However, most recently had a very bad experience where the old guy accused me of colluding with another customer who I'd never met to get an extra 4-pack of Sip o Sunshine. If you're not familiar, its very difficult to get and taking more than a 4-pack is extremely frowned upon and against store policy. I had seen this customer carrying it and asked him where it was. He said I had to ask because they keep it in the back. When I asked he old man, he frowned and said they had one left. As he went into the walk-in he shouted "I should have said no." He walked out, handed it to me and said "here go give it to your friend." I responded that I was alone and did not know that person. He wouldn't even look at me. Just frowned, sat down and stared at the computer. I tried to speak with him but he continued to ignore me. So rude. read more

I have been to the other Amity and this one is similar, maybe a little smaller and a slightly smaller selection .. on the same day I went to both, looking for nothing in particular and noticed there were price differences of a few dollars on some items between the two stores. Also, this one had a bunch of last years winter beers on sale (its almost fall now) .. liquor seemed pretty well stocked and average prices. Asked some questions about some upcoming beer releases and they knew what i was talking about and had opinions on a few beers that helped me make my decisions .. read more

I recently ordered Patron Platinum as a gift for a family member. I searched online and found that Amity's website had the bottle for about 50% less than I was seeing in stores. If you sign up for the emails, you get information on tastings and sales as well. They are always willing to order the different wines you may request as well. read more

The best place for a great selection of beers in this part of Hamden. Amity has all the usual varieties and craft and imported beers. The wine selection is pretty good as well. read more
