So when I was planning for the arrival of my first child, I sought to find something different than just your average "newborn" photo shoot. I found Laura and i am so thankful I did. I knew from looking at her work with families that she had an amazing eye for capturing candid moments, and so I took a shot and sent her my pinterest board...filled with non-conventional, moody, shadow photography and those elusive hard-to-catch shots of pure candid magic. A tall order for any photographer. Within hours, Laura responded to me and was excited for the job. Our shoot was perfection. She came to our home, worked around our schedule and insisted we didn't have to clean up anything (music to the ears of a first-time parent with a 3 week old baby, recovering from a c-section) - she'd make it all work by blurring backgrounds and using light, etc. She was unfazed by my nursing in between shots and needing to take breaks for napping. Always a calm and quiet professional. She was so good with the baby. Never tried to put him in a weird position or make him uncomfortable to get the shot. That's just the thing with Laura...she captured the true essence of motherhood by just being an observer. The whole shoot only took around 2 and a half hours and she gave us so much more than we were hoping for. Those first few weeks of motherhood are such a special time... So sweet. So exhausting. SO hard to put into words. But Laura captured it all. One of her shots of my new son and I actually was selected from hundreds to be featured in one of LA's most prominent portrait exhibitions. And he truly pushed me to get shots unlike any I have ever had before. I was a bit nervous because I was new territory for me and I had done a lot of prep work. He worked with me throughout the session and was incredibly specific with the lighting, backgrounds, clothing, and hair (the makeup/hair artist, Talya, was EXCELLENT, btw) I was the last session of that day and Michael and his team gave me the opportunity to upgrade (for an incredibly reasonable price) for what amounted to be double the amount of looks! Like any prospective couple, we had no idea what we were looking for. Luna Bella was actually one of the first vendors we spoke to on the floor that day. Hours later we had come to the conclusion that they were probably who we would choose for photos, it wasn't even close after talking to a hall full of photographers. Luna Bella was actually the first vendor we officially booked and by far the single best choice we made. We actually contracted Demecio and his team to do our engagement photos on top of the wedding photos, from the start he was extremely courteous and his enthusiasm made the day fun. Even early on Demecio was open to our ideas and engaged in even the smallest details my wife or I suggested. Post engagement he was easy to communicate with, for all the vendors we worked with, it was more like talking to a friend than just someone working a contract. This was made even more apparent as leading up to our wedding and the day of his team was as excited as we were for the wedding day. There's a million things that go into a wedding day and obviously having someone to rely on to help line out details and timelines like Demecio was a godsend. On site the day of, Demecio and his team weren't just photographers.
