We signed Angela as our planner in May 2010 to help us with our Napa Valley destination wedding in October 2010. As we were planning our wedding from Asia and had less than 5 months til the big day, we needed a planner who was available and flexible to meet our demanding schedules. She claimed to be the "BEST PLANNER IN NAPA", provided us with "great" references, and assured us that she was very experienced in working with overseas clientele, so we paid our 50% of the fee to go ahead with Angela. (Note, she also emailed us that another party wanted to sign with her for an October 2010 event and given she has a quota of events she can do, we felt some time pressure... though, it was still our fault we didn't spend enough time to look around more thoroughly). Unfortunately, shortly after signing the contract we realized Angela was not right for us. We found out early on that her schedule was not very flexible to our needs and she was at times even unaware of the drastic time zone differences. Apart from canceling & re-scheduling several of our conference calls, she was unable to meet us for two separate in person appointments that we had flown in for from Asia. The first time was a brief business visit to the Bay Area, but given the short notice of our travel itinerary and not being her clients yet, we gave her the benefit of the doubt. But she was unavailable again when we planned to do another week long visit to the Bay Area/Napa to do our wedding site check and by that time, she was our planner. Maybe she was stretched too thin, or we were too far away, or we were not considered a big budget wedding, or that she often flies back and forth between Napa and southern California...but nonetheless something was wrong. Within the first week of signing on, Angela was out of pocket for the first few days, then she emailed to reschedule our conference calls that week and by the end of the week, we were told she would not be able to accommodate us when we were in town for our site check. With the distance and impending time crunch until the wedding, it was at that moment that we realized this was not going to work out and that Angela would not be able to provide the service we needed. We explained this to her over the phone and reiterated our concerns over email before asking if we could receive our money back or be billed for the work she had already done so that we could mutually cancel the contract. We thought this was a reasonable request given that only a few hours of work had been done so far and that our schedules just could not match hers. However, she was surprised at our request and refused to not only not provide the requested refund, but also stopped returning our calls and emails to work out an amicable solution. In the end, we were able to find a different wedding planner and had an incredible wedding. However, we are deeply disappointed that Angela seemed more focused on her bottom line than caring about the wedding couples who have been saving and working so hard for their special day...

And nothing changed in terms of fees with Bravo - we got an entire extra year of bothering Katy for the exact same cost we paid in 2020. We had our wedding at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards and Katy was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the venue and everything & everybody that came with it. Whenever my husband and I had any questions we thought were random (questions about shuttles, where to host an after-party, where to have our rehearsal dinner, where to host day-after-wedding festivities, and so many more), Katy always had a well-thought-out answer via email for us within a day or two. Katy attended our tasting with Park Ave Catering and was also there with us for our site visit and rehearsal at our venue. Whenever she was around, my husband and I both felt at ease. When it came to the day of, everything ran smoothly and on-time as far as my husband and I could tell (which is all that matters, am I right?!). Our guests were amazed that our 5:00pm ceremony *actually* started at 5pm. We initially spoke with several other planners, but after our first call with Kimberly, we knew we wanted her to be the one helping us plan our event this past October in Sonoma. We insisted that Kimberly was our go-to with ASE. ASE has several levels of planning packages depending on what you are looking for. My Husband and I decided to go with the partial planning package and it was the perfect balance for us. We are from the Chicagoland area so having a planner in California where we were getting married was essential. Kimberly is also well-connected in wine country/the wedding industry and has relationships with many of the vendors who ASE has worked with over the years. This is a major perk, since she was able to point us in the direction of some of the best vendors out there! We always felt like we were in the right hands and were provided high quality recommendations by Kimberly. Throughout the past year of planning with Kimberly she was always kind and had such a positive attitude. Aside from being our wedding planner, Kimberly felt like a friend. Not only did we hear from several of our vendors how much they loved working with Kimberly and how organized she was, even several of our friends asked who she was because they noticed how on top of everything she was at the wedding. Everyone tells you how stressful wedding planning can be, especially since our entire planning process was virtual and during covid, but ours was carefree and fun! You also hear "something is going to go wrong the day of" but my husband and I can say that our day was flawless. If something did go wrong, it was nothing made known or visible to either us or any of our guests. When my Husband and I returned to our hotel room at the end of that night, Kimberly and her assistant had already returned all our signs and personal belongings to our room. They laid out my veil on the bed with our welcome sign so beautifully (see pic). Although this was a small gesture, we felt it was so thoughtful to walk back to at the end of what was already the perfect day! One final touch if you will! I have said to my husband on numerous occasions recently that I wish our wedding planning wasn't over and how I want to experience our day all over again and he agrees! For example, Kelly knew mine and my husband's love for Crumbl cookies and it became a shared love between all of us. She had the great idea to pick up Crumbl catering for our Rehearsal Dinner, which was also my husband's birthday, because she knew how special that would be for us. This is just the smallest example of Kelly's thoughtfulness throughout the whole process. Our wedding planning process presented extreme challenges between having to postpone a full year due to the pandemic and having to find a new venue/caterer/other vendors after our original venue burned down, but Kelly had my back every step of the way. We initially hired Maryssa for the Standard Package but after an extremely busy season with my job, I was overstressed and needed to up the help I needed from Maryssa. Maryssa was super accommodating and helped work out a reasonable fee in addition to the package we had already signed on for. Our first venue meeting was easy and felt like we had it all figured out (even though there was still lots to do) Maryssa was super composed and took notes the whole time. Shortly after, I received an e-mail with all her notes and the next steps I needed to take on the planning journey and recommendations for things I had asked for. It was nice meeting with Maryssa at the venue and being able to discuss my vision and at no point did she try to pressure me in any which way, just gave me helpful advice when needed. She really works with you to make your wedding come to life. Maryssa was so on top of emails and contacting other vendors leading up to the wedding day, it gave us some time to focus on all the little details we had left to do. It was nice not to have to try and figure out all the schematics and check all the lists a million more times. Day of wedding...my husband and I have been married for all of a week and we keep talking about how perfectly smooth our wedding day ran if there was a hiccup we sure didn't know about it! And that's one of the main reasons for hiring a coordinator but, I doubt everyone is as blessed with a Maryssa on their side. Maryssa went above and beyond in every aspect and was constantly checking in on us during the day and making sure we had everything we needed and letting us know when we were gearing up for dances or cake cutting, etc. By the end of the night, Maryssa still had a smile on her face (despite running around in 93-degree weather all day back and forth from the ceremony and reception sites). She seriously did it all without one complaint about heat, exhaustion, etc. She's a rock star! Before employing her services, we had already located a potential venue in Sonoma county that we were interested in. Fortunately, Maryssa had an existing relationship with the venue and accompanied us for our first meeting. All was good until we realized the venue was too small and location too far for family to travel so we requested Maryssa search for other venues in the Bay Area. From the very beginning we were clear the bay area was a preference but Sonoma/Napa was an option. In addition Hanna Smith events clearly advertise covering the Bay Area, however, from the moment we focused on viewing venues outside the wine country we felt an immediate disengagement from Maryssa. We were sent a few locations to view, but it seemed as though no thought was put into the selections. We were taking the lead, initiating meetings and basically doing a lot of the work we thought we were paying for. Our situation is a little unique. We had less than eight months to plan our wedding and currently we live in two separate counties, Australia and Northern California. We planned our visits so that we could both be here for wedding appointments. One particular scheduled appointment was to view a venue in Pleasanton. This turned out to be our venue of choice and although Maryssa sent us to a neighbouring site, we had In fact sourced the venue some time ago ourselves. The actual day of the appointment Maryssa did not call but emailed us saying she was sick and couldn't make it. What was most disappointing, is that Maryssa did not offer to send anyone in her place and was then leaving the next day on a personal trip for a week. We attended the meeting by ourselves and attempted to do the negotiating alone. We paid for a full service planning package and were left feeling unguided, frustrated and stressed after six weeks of no progress. After feeling we were initiating the majority of the work and ideas, we decided to part ways and employ another planner to help us. The difference in service is worlds apart and we now feel completely supported and on track with our new planner who is 100% invested and excited to help us plan on our journey. We understood the deposit was non refundable but we reached out to provide feedback to the business owner, just to be heard and express our feelings, and although she agreed to refund a token amount (less than a third of our payment) this was basically to make us go away. She completely sided with Maryssa without engaging us in any discussion to understand our point of view and to discover our experience with her business. Not what you would have expected by a business owner that should care about customer experience. There are always two sides to the story but in all honesty, as the paying customers, we felt completely ripped off and deeply regretting our decision to choose Hannah Smith events to plan our wedding.

Overall we do not recommend them. We feel the service provided was not worth the money we spent. On the day of the wedding I feel they were not on top of everything and they seemed overwhelmed. Compared to other vendors they did not go above and beyond. Below are some pros and cons. Pros: - They managed vendors, called them and scheduled with them. - One of our vendor was not responsive and they did the necessary to hear back from them. - At the end of the wedding they packed everything back nicely so the next day we just had to pick up boxes - 90% of their value added was on the day-of, so we'd recommend getting the basic "day-of" package. Cons: - Just before ceremony started I discovered that they lost a big box with the 70% of the party favors. After accusing me to have forgotten it at home then finally found it. So instead of enjoying and welcoming our guests I had to run around to find the box and my stress level was at 100 %. In addition their solution was to put one party favor per table... which did not make any sense. - Tracy did not have the latest timeline on the day of the wedding, . She was still working with a three-week old timeline with hand written notes even though we had finalized the timeline a week prior and sent them all the details via google slides. - We were on a tight schedule for dinner. One of their responsibilities was to make sure we stay on time, seat people and tell people when to start their speeches. We started dinner about 30 minutes late, the DJ was more concerned than them to have people do their speech on time.
