How the business used to be…read morecalled Grossman's when they started coming by for supplies, then Contractor's Warehouse with its old school orange and black logo, and finally for a period of time referred to as HD Supply. Well now it's the CW again, and from the looks of it not much has changed. Still the same long walks down the hallways in relative quiet, unless you are rolling the panel truck like I was. Friendly customer service through the phone when I asked about availability/quantity of corrugated roofing panels. Then at the store the staff would help find the appropriate wood screws. Whereas in the past I remembered older folks staffing the store, now it's mostly younger guys and gals though knowledgeable all the same. Can't put my finger on it, but it does feels different from a Home Depot but in a good way.

To me, it doesn't matter store is small, as long as I found what I like and especially they have very friendly price not broke my leg or arm. Also, they don't have "company policy", very flexible to work with customer's needed and that's what I love this place about.

Frank's Building Materials and Villanueva Cabinetry Workshop where they make and stain basic pine kitchen and bathroom cabinets to order. Building supplies include typical 60 and 90 pound sacks of cement and concrete, sand and gravel by the scoop, cement board, rebar, cinder blocks, nails, screws, bolts, brooms, et cetera. They deliver to the local area, they've delivered big orders for me to projects in City Terrace, Monterey Park and Lincoln Heights. When I pick up materials in my car, or truck they always load everything for me. Their prices are similar to big retailers like Home Depot, but much more convenient service. They will run around the store and find whatever you need while you wait at the counter. Villanueva Hardware a mile west at 3516 E Cesar E Chavez Ave is a bit smaller. I believe they have three additional locations but I haven't visited those. Frank's Building Supplies might smell a bit like oregano, because fifty years ago the building was the home of a Mexican spice distributor. I shopped there even then!

Since then, the company filed bankruptcy and now operates under the name Lumber Liquidators , yet they refuse to take responsibility for ongoing issues with our floors. What makes this even more frustrating is that it is the SAME product, SAME store location, and many of the SAME staff, but suddenly they act like they have no connection to previous sales or warranties. As a customer, that feels incredibly dishonest and misleading. You cannot continue operating the same business, selling the same flooring, in the same buildings, with the same employees, but conveniently deny responsibility when customers need support. The installation quality has been unacceptable. We have dealt with issues that should never happen with professionally installed flooring, especially considering the amount of money we invested. Instead of standing behind their work, we've been given excuses, deflection, and zero accountability. The "lifetime warranty" clearly meant nothing once bankruptcy happened. Customers were sold peace of mind and long-term protection, only to find out later that the company can simply change names and walk away from obligations. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company. The sales experience may sound great upfront, but if something goes wrong, do not expect them to stand behind their products, installation, or promises. We deeply regret trusting this company with our home and would never recommend them to anyone.
