I'm only on Yelp lol. Looked so interesting, with ducks of every imaginable size and type, from Disney characters, to superheroes, to random funny things like a rubber duck inside of a shark's mouth! After we saw this store it seemed like there were other stores of the same type in other Amsterdam neighborhoods, so it really is a thing! I bet people don't even play with them in the bathtub but collect them. Well, why not? My favorite was a unicorn duck with rainbow hair, because..unicorns! They seem pricy to me, but then maybe as a collectible they're reasonable?

I ended up buying stuff for myself and loved ones here. CUTE (not like souvenir shop-style) post cards, kids stuff, artwork, jewelry, housewares, quirky gifts, and so much more! I loved it was all Dutch (either designed and/or made), and I'm excited to gift some things for Christmas. I really cannot recommend a place more if you're looking for gifts and/our souvenirs (and even if you're local, it'd still be a great place to shop). The lady working was also very kind.

Before I go into depth as to why, I recommend going to Goochem where the customer service was friendlier, more helpful, and most importantly, a place where you will receive the proper documentation to claim VAT back.   We reached out to Tinkerbell Toys in advance of our trip to ensure that they had the inventory of Ostheimer toys we wanted and would provide the appropriate documents to claim VAT back. They indicated that they did and so we made a trip to the store to purchase a good amount of Ostheimer animals as Christmas gifts for kids. Upon our departure from Amsterdam, we were denied a customs stamp for the purchase from Tinkerbell Toys because the receipt was not itemized with detailed descriptions of the purchased items.   When we returned home, we contacted Tinkerbell toys and spoke with Gerrit, who was surprised we were denied. When he offered no solution, I reiterated my disappointment and displeasure to which he responded with "What do you want me to do?" I replied with a sensible solution: return the tax amount back to us. We felt this was fair since it was the failure on the store's part to follow proper protocol when taking part in the VAT program to provide their foreign customers with the correct documentation for them to receive the money due back to them for the purchases made.   I did not receive a reply for 2 days after being in constant contact with him. After following up, I received the following reply:  "This is the busiest time of the year and our shop is more important  then mails. You act as if I knew that my description on the receipt was not sufficient. That was not the case. I learned that afterwards from the taxfree company. I am very sorry for you but in this case I can not be responsible for you missing the tax refund."   We strongly feel the store is at fault because they failed to adhere to the rules and regulations required of a VAT program vendor. At this point, it is all about the principle of the issue. It is no longer about the getting the money back but with how this situation was handled. Not only did they fail to provide proper itemized receipt for VAT back, they did not take accountability for their error. It has been an extremely unpleasant customer service experience. We only hope that this feedback informs potential patrons and also prompts Tinkerbell Toys to take the corrective action to provide proper receipts with detailed descriptions.

It is the cutest little toy shop. Everything at Tinkerbell is top notch. It is sort of the anti-mega toy store. The toys at Tinkerbell bring it back to the fundamentals. Use your brain and use your imagination. Many of the toys here are simple and made of blocks or are of the scientific type. Learn to build things and learn how the world works. I bought some art cards, post cards, mini music boxes, and some Amsterdam trinkets (a little wooden clog keychain with my initial). They have all sorts of fun stuff from cake and hamburger jewelry rings to ceiling projection lamps that put the night sky in your bedroom. We were pressed for time but one could easily spend more than a half hour at Tinkerbell browsing. It's sort of magical. And don't forget to take a picture with Tinker Bubbles Beer outside! I like that they stock nice, plush materials and don't really have many of the cheesy, gimmicky kinds. Alpaca, cashmere, and cotton galore! That means that most of the yarns here are a bit expensive, but you'll love whatever you make with these types of materials. They also have a great variety of colors. They have every kind of needle you could need, including tapestry, sewing, and knitting. The women working inside were very knowledgeable about their products and proficient in English as well.

We stopped by last night before dinner, and managed to buy only one magnet for our fridge (our cat likes to knock them off). The store is so cute, selling stuffed toys, keychains, books, pencil cases, pens, notebooks, all sorts of adorable Miffy merch. Downstairs is a little corner for kids to sit in if they need a break from shopping. The two ladies at the front counter were friendly and managing well considering the crowd of people wanting attention.
