Because Ange was showing a couple of her piccies we were invited to the open evening where members of the public could rub shoulders with the artists and spotty little herberts like me. A really nice spread was also put on,which was a nice touch. It is a real gem in a town centre that is seriously lacking in other little indie gems...

I love this little art gallery shop. It's all original paintings and other art, handmade items like…read morejewellery, decorative items, gifts, etc. The paintings vary in style, but there does seem to be an overabundance of fairy-related artwork. Someone must be a fairy fan. There is quite a variety of media as well, from paintings to drawings to collage art. The quality of this art is excellent, so I have no doubt that the prices are good for what you are getting. But remember, you're buying art, so it's not going to be cheap.

Everytime I visit I always find something I didnt know I needed! The shop itself is clean and bright and the stock is new and continually stocked up. The staff are helpful and you get the impression they are passionate about their trade and know what they are talking about which is an added bonus! Ive bought things from them in the past and they have always asked me if I knew how to use it. This is the kind of service you dont get in the larger stores. Its the kind of shop I look forward to visiting and am happy to part with my money in!

The gallery is small but well laid out and concentrates on street/subversive/underground art. They have prints, canvasses and small sculptures on show and the art is of an excellent quality and from emerging Manc artists. It is great to have a gallery dedicated to street art and not just Banksy rip-offs, and the fact that the artists are Manchester based is fantastic. The prices of art are affordable too. It is a great place to dicover new art and buy art that is truly unkown. Recommended.

After its £15million renovation in early 2015, the Whitworth has become an architectural, eco-friendly behemoth fit for the entire family. I've never experienced such a wide variety of visitor engagement activities for every age group - toddlers, adults, students, and researchers alike! There is always something going on, which adds to its vivacity and most importantly, its accessibility. The Whitworth opens its doors to its entire collection. You can contact any of the members of the curatorial team (found on their website) and schedule a one-to-one appointment to view any particular items. I would absolutely recommend seeing their textiles and wallpapers as they are very 60s/70s retro-heavy! One of the best things about the Whitworth is how its walls have extended to embrace the beauty of Whitworth Park. Now you can have a cup of tea and a delicious cake in an entirely-windowed room, overlooking acres of greenery. The renovation of the gallery's interior is also something to come see in itself! I've heard nothing but good things about this place and I plan on visiting many times over. I'm already planning on going back to see Hair and Christmas Cracker over the coming months. They've started offering relaxed performances which makes this place a lot more accessible for those with kids or for individuals with autism for example. Big thumbs up. The interior is gorgeous, exposed brick walls with big cosy armchairs. Shabby chic with lots of quirky furniture - have a go on the saddle stools! There's a bar on site and the engine room café offers a pre theatre menu :) What more can you ask for.
