Korean food is probably the category I'm most critical of when it comes to restaurant reviews. As a Korean American who's spent a lifetime eating great Korean food at home and in restaurants, my standards are high. That said, this was easily the best Korean meal I've had in Austin, and honestly, it might be the best I've had in Texas. The soondubu arrived absolutely piping hot. I ordered the mushroom version, and it was packed with a wide variety of mushrooms rather than just a few token pieces. Even when ordered spicy, the broth still had incredible depth and flavor that wasn't just heat for the sake of heat. The tteokbokki was addictive. We ended up adding cheese and ramen, which took it to another level. The marinated kalbi was equally impressive: high-quality meat with very little fat and generous portions. The banchan was also top-tier. Standouts included the soy-glazed potatoes, fresh kimchi, and japchae. They also serve purple rice, which has a wonderful chewy texture and feels like a more thoughtful alternative to standard white rice. The food alone would bring me back, but the service was excellent as well; friendly, attentive, and efficient. We came for an early dinner and got seated right away, but if you're planning to come during peak dinner hours, expect a wait. The locals clearly know this place is something special. Huge parking lot and the dining area is bright and airy, even playing the world cup games. Seems to be very family friendly. read more

Good banchan, but everything else was pretty mid if you're used to Korean restaurants in larger cities. The cold noodles had a great taste, but were not served with any accompaniment except some ginger. The six pieces of galbi we ordered included one piece that was purely gristly and bone. No seasoning and weirdly chewy meat on the remaining pieces. I wouldn't recommend the BBQ here. We had a pretty uncomfortable table wedged between a large family dinner and the server station, blocked from the windows by a giant wall. read more

We had the seafood pancake, which was tasty, but also a bit greasy. I don't think I would order it again not that it was bad but it was just OK. Had a beef dish that was very good and a nice size portion, basically short ribs is how I would refer to them. I would order this again and perhaps make it in my soul dish if it was just me. You can get a variety of different toppings, of which I got the combination seafood and meat, and choose from 1-10 spice level. I got the 9 and it definitely had me sweating! The flavor was really savory and delicious, and they also gave side dishes like kimchi, marinated potatoes, and bean sprouts. The stone pot bibimbap is also a great option is you're not feeling the soup. It came sizzling hot with beef, carrots, spinach, and other veggies. The potion was large and it was filling! The seafood pancake was also really good and had lots of squid in it. The soy sauce that was for dipping paired well with it, and it was slightly crispy on the surface. Service was quick, even though it was busy, and we even had leftovers we could take to enjoy later. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by for lunch over the weekend. The restaurant was clean and had plenty of tables and seats. Although it was pretty busy, the staff was friendly and our food did not take too long to come out. I ordered the galbi (3 pcs) + bibim naengmyeon combo. The bibim naengmyeon was delicious and flavorful. The galbi was tender, nicely seasoned, and paired well with the noodles. My boyfriend ordered the crab soondubu with ramen noodles. They were generous with the crab, and the noodles were cooked perfectly in the soondubu broth. Overall, we were very happy with our dishes and will definitely come back in the future! read more

An Nyeong is the best Korean food in Austin in my opinion. I have tried a lot of spots around town and this one just better, especially if you are into tofu soups. The tofu soups here are excellent. The flavor is perfectly balanced, not too acidic but still super flavorful, and they are generous with both the meat and tofu. They also give you purple rice, which is a nice touch, along with a solid spread of Korean side dishes. One thing I really like is that they offer 10 levels of spice. I like the level of control over your spice level. I would recommend level 5 for a good kick without it becoming uncomfortable. This place is good when you're craving Korean and don't want to travel all the way to Hmart. Whenever I want stonepot bibimbap and can't be bothered to go past the Domain, I'll come here for a simple quick meal. Their bonchon selection is limited but still good, especially the shoyu potatoes and japchae. Even though I can still rock with their bibimbap, I just love it when the stone pot is volcanic to the touch and gets the rice blackened with crisp. The decor is very clean and fancy whereas I prefer a more traditional vibe when I eat Korean but I think that's just due to my upbringing. While exploring Austin my husband searched for a nearby Korean restaurant because my in laws are in town and my (Korean) mother in law wants to eat Korean food almost every day she's here lol I don't mind at all because I love Korean food so much. However, it's always interesting to hear her review and insight. Ok, so again, for me... it was a 10/10 overall. A very modern take on Korean food based on the aesthetic of the restaurant itself and the "young" servers which my mother in law pointed out lol It was exceptional service, for me and their potatoe panchan is 100000000/10 for me! Sooo delicious! I ordered the galbi (Kalbi ribs) and I was floored by how delicious they were. Everything was tasty and they were very generous with portions or "refills" on anything we ordered or asked for. The most surprising thing for us and mostly my MIL is how many people walked in (and mostly Korean) to the restaurant while we ate there. Obviously it's pretty authentic and delicious, if you ask me! The restaurant is a bit hard to find, and you may miss it going fast on Burnet, but once you know where you're going, you turn into a parking lot that has a lot of space available, even during peak hours. When you walk into the restaurant you're not greeted right away, it seems like you need to make your presence known around the corner to wave down a waiter to be seated. So far, it's been busy every time I've been, but lucky enough to be seated right away. Once you order, all of the side dishes come out quickly and they are actually fresh. They don't taste like they've been sitting out for a while. I enjoy them so much I usually ask for more halfway through the meal. The main dishes also come out very quickly. Almost suspiciously fast, but since it seems steaming hot every time, I'm not too worried. All the main dishes are very authentic. Anything you order here will taste great. When this place first opened the highest spice setting wasn't that spicy at all, but I think they're using a new pepper, making a 10 pretty spicy! This Korean establishment is such a unique restaurant (considering the limited Korean cuisine we have here in Austin) because beyond the standard Korean dishes you'll encounter at other places, this place offers different varieties of tofu soup as one of the main dishes! You get to build your personal tofu soup by choosing your spice level, selecting protein/vegetable options, and adding additional side items (e.g. udon/ramen noodles, cheese, etc.) The soup comes out in a clay pot, perfect for those that enjoy having their soup stay warmer longer! The only downside is that by the end, my remaining beef pieces were overcooked because they had been sitting in the hot broth for a while so keep that in mind. As for their non-soup dishes, we ordered both their Seafood Pancake and Beef Short Ribs (Galbi) to share among a party of 3 (which was the right decision because the portion sizes were generous). Both dishes exceeded my expectations and I particularly loved the dipping sauce that came with the Seafood Pancake -- it had a sweet and tangy taste with a hint of a wasabi-infused aftertaste! It honestly is probably my favorite Seafood Pancake dipping sauce in all of Austin! The Galbi came with a huge portion of slow-cooked white onion slices (yay for anyone that loves pairing them with their meat), and the meat had just the right amount of flavor and tenderness! Last but not least, you can't forget their complimentary banchan (small Korean side dishes) that paired very well with the rest of the food. We asked for complimentary refills and the staff was incredibly friendly and generous to provide more rounds -- no questions asked! :) The next time you're craving a hot bowl of soup or just want to eat some excellent Korean cuisine, please definitely keep this restaurant in mind because you're in for a treat! read more

Whenever I miss my mom's cooking. I come here. The tofu soup is hands down my favorite. I was also impressed with the hot stone bowl, which came out sizzling and full of flavor. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to a pleasant dining experience. The only downside is the parking during peak hours, it can be a bit of a mess getting in. I actually had to loop around to find an easier entrance and avoid the stress. Inside, the restaurant is simple but welcoming, with beautiful artwork and a spotless, clean setup. So happy to have found a solid Korean spot here in ATX! I'm from LA, where there's an abundance of Korean food, so my husband and I were really impressed. The tofu soup and bibimbap were solid, both packed with flavor. Their seafood pancake is probably one of the best we've had, it's actually loaded with seafood and super crispy! I don't think we were super impressed with the food but it wasn't bad so if you live nearby, this would be a good Korean option. I just don't think I'd drive far across town for it though. I had a tofu bowl with a lemonade and it came out to $27 after tax and 20% tip. The hot stone Bibimbap here is legit. Very well marinated, juicy and generous amount of spicy pork goes pleasantly well with other veggies and the rice. Also, Bibim Mandu is the bomb. This is my favorite Korean restautrant in Austin now! We visited on a Tuesday evening, the service was quick and ambience is nice with a casual vibe. We had the BBQ Chicken and vegetables mixed rice bowl that was served sizzling hot on a cast iron plate. I loved the layer of crispy rice at the bottom! The Tofu seafood soup was also boiling when served and was delicious. But the best part of the meal for me, was the different barchan sides served with the soup. I want to really make that known they probably have the best Korean food I've ever had here, in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta or LA. Now the reason why my rating has gone down because despite coming here so many time, the service only gets worse. I want to come more often but I can't get myself to go to a place where I don't feel like I am wanted. I see so many food bloggers here and they all rave about the service but I can't get myself to enjoy my food fully when I feel like I'm being purposely ignored having to wait 30+ minutes just to be acknowledged at the front door. It is so frustrating. I love their food I really want to reiterate that. An Nyeong is one of my favorites in Austin, and it's officially one of my new go-to spots for Korean comfort food. Everything felt fresh, flavorful, and authentic--exactly what I look for in a Korean restaurant. We started with the seafood pancake, and it was perfectly crisp on the outside while still soft and packed with shrimp, squid, and green onions inside. Not too greasy, and not too doughy, packed with flavor. The beef short ribs were tender, juicy, and marinated beautifully. The spicy pork had a kick without being overwhelming, and the seasoning was spot on. They paired so well with the banchan and rice. One of the most unique dishes is the raw marinated crab. It's not something you see everywhere, and theirs was delicious. Sweet, briny, and flavorful, with that addictive soy marinade that makes you want to scoop every last bit over rice. The seafood tofu soup is always nice on a cooler day. Silky tofu, flavorful broth, and plenty of seafood. The spice level had a satisfying heat but didn't mask the flavors. Overall, An Nyeong delivers on food quality, portion size, and service. If you love Korean cuisine, or are just looking for a cozy spot that consistently serves great dishes, this place is absolutely worth the visit. It was a good thing we made a reservation ahead of time because the restaurant got packed really fast. Went in at 7:30pm on a thursday, one of the older gentleman asked how many, we told them 2, then he walked away. then the next 10 mins, no one came to take us to our table, we made eye contact with everyone working there and no one came over to let us know how long or even if we will be seated. during the meantime, we checked inside and saw a lot of open tables. finally a group came behind us, and the lady behind us asked a server after standing there & being ignored with us for 5 mins. finally we got taken to our table. it then took another 5-10 for someone to come and ask what we wanted to drink. Then I asked the server whether if they had a host at the door usually or is it up to the servers, he then said usually they only have hosts on the weekends bcs its busier, so i told him how we felt about the situation, and he just continued to give excuses and say they dont have a host today, after going back and forth peacefully, he squeezed out a sorry, which is just all we wanted to hear in the first place. So then we left without ordering, because a restaurant without good service is a bad restaurant whether or not they have good food . and if i choose to dine in, i deserve to get the good service that i am paying for. read more

Ordered it again but this time there was barely 3 half clusters of crab. All extremely small. Mostly just veg, onion, carrot and a lot of sauce. That wouldn't bother me except it cost 30$ for the entire order so it feels like a rip off if this is their new custom. That being said, it still taste very fresh and I love the banchan included with it. I'd just appreciate if it was consistent. Also please please offer seaweed with this order! I've felt that Austin had be lacking a Korean Soon du Boo place and was really excited to find this one (and one not located in the far north part of Austin). I did crack the egg in and tried to let is sit to cook in the hot soup - but I think the next time I'm just going to stir it in. - Combination tofu soup. Clams, shrimp and beef. Served in a ttukbaegi. 7/10 spicy gives a good kick without going overboard. - Mushroom tofu soup. A mix of mushrooms with tofu. Served in a ttukbaegi. Really nicely balanced flavor too - Baby tofu soup - this one is for the kids - a small metal bowl (not a ttukbaegi). Could have had some meat and mushrooms, but the kiddo opted for mushrooms only. Banchan was served as well - a mix of some different items - kimchi, kongnamul (seasoned bean sprouts), jap chae (glass noodles), gamja jorim (potatoes) and cheonsachae (kelp noodles). We also added an order of galbi (served on a bed of grilled onions) and has some heukmi bap (purple rice) to go with it. We were stuffed and so happy one we finished. Really great first visit to this Korean gem! Went at around 6pm on a Monday and we were seated right away by a very kind and enthusiastic server! While busy, she took the time to explain the menu to us and even gave us some recommendations! We ended up ordering two versions of their stone bowl Bibimbap (just noted as mixed rice on their menu)--the seafood and the beef. While waiting for the main courses, 5 dishes of delicious looking banchan came out. We sampled kimchi, spiced potatoes, kelp noodle slaw, japchae, and blanched bean sprouts. All of these were excellent. The hot and sizzling stone bowls arrived at our table, along with their spicy gochujang sauce. The sound and smell was amazing. The flavors mingled beautifully, and both the beef and seafood was perfectly cooked and tender. It was a ton of food! For $19 each, you can easily get two meals haha. We really loved our time at An Nyeong. By the end of our meal, the restaurant was packed. Clearly there is no secret that this is THE spot if you want delicious Korean food.
