The bathroom is extremely small but worked. The accommodations are not luxurious but worked. The breakfast was out of this world! Several people waited on us. The menu was about 7 pages. There was cold cereal, fruit and pastry, then main dish and then dessert crepe of either chocolate and banana or cinnamon sugar. The location is excellent and you can walk to town from there. She had plenty of stories to share and wisdom on where to go and what to see while in Cork (and the appropriate maps to guide us in the right direction). Our room was cozy with a reasonably sized bathroom (by Irish standards) and a sweeping view over the city. The breakfast was prompt and piping hot - my husband raved about the black and white pudding, while I stuck to scrambled eggs, beans, and toast. Plus, the B&B is located a comfortable walking distance from the bus terminal and train station. I'd recommend Auburn House to any out of town visitors looking for the full B&B experience.

As I arrived a bit early for check in, there was not a room for me right away, but Helena's staff didn't just have me sit in the lobby while they provided breakfast to the rest of the guests, they offered me the full breakfast as well while I waited (very tasty!). The next 5 days were spent working of course, but coming home each night to the Achill House reminded me of my own upbringing in Boston. My only "complaint" was the room I had was a bit "cramped". And I say "cramped" by European standards, not US. By US standards, it was a closet. But the bed was comfy. My room was on the 4th floor (number 7 or 8 if I remember). Only a short walk to downtown Cork, the Achill House made for a great starting/ending point for any sightseeing or pub hopping. No need for a car here. While I didn't see the bill, I heard it was more than 60% off what was being charged at the Kingsley Hotel, where I was supposed to stay originally. I would have missed such a great B&B if I had stayed at the Kingsley.

The campsite has a golf course that families can use, clean showers (though my fiancee didn't like the moths!) and a well-stocked camp shop. There are washing machines/dryers and ironing facilties. There was a TV room and a kitchen area. There were more caravans than tents but there is a allocated camping area. We had good weather when we stayed here which helped but I would recommend it to anyone touring with a tent or caravan.
