He was very kind & a sweetheart. The world needs more T.J.'s! I love Hobby Lobby's and this is the first time I came to this one. I love the smaller town feel better than the bigger ones. Each person we came we came in contact with were just gems to us.

More than a month ago, I submitted a job application to Hobby Lobby. A friend of a friend suggested this to me - I'm a college student - and said she had a fantastic experience working there throughout college. After a week of no response, I went in to Hobby Lobby and asked an employee about the wait time for responses to job applications. She told me that the wait time is usually about two weeks... which I and one of my professors thought was odd, considering that Palestine is a fairly small town. "Two weeks and you'll get a response." I waited another week, totaling two, no call or email from them. Even my professor, who I had listed as a reference caller, asked me about it. Apparently, this Hobby Lobby hadn't even bothered to contact my first reference (there were only three!). Very lazy. The lack of professionalism on their part is truly disappointing. Thankfully, I'm not in dire need of a job. If I had been, it would've been fairly upsetting.

Brought my wife down to celebrate her birthday with a weekend getaway, yea I know Palestine doesn't…read moresound like the "Get Away" destination for most folks, unless you are my wife and me. We absolutely love the small towns here in Texas and we love the little specialties/nuances they have to offer, the attractions, the food and accommodations and that is exactly what we discovered at The Redlands Hotel. Walking into this building (built 1914) you will immediately be taken aback to a simpler time and immersed in all this buildings history. As soon as you walk through the large double doors you will be captivated by the "honor case" a tribute to the late husband of the widowed owner. It's a must to take time and read and see all the tributes to an extensive Naval career from his humble beginnings to serving at Peral Harbor to winning Congressional Gold medal. Then as you Check-In you will get a Texas sized smile and welcome from either Tracie or Celeste (sorry if spelled them wrong). These two ladies will answer any question you might have and probably one or two you have not thought about yet. They are fantastic. We came upon Tracie doing all sort of jobs at the hotel and each time she had a smile on her face and willing to talk. The rooms have full kitchenette equipped with fridge, stove, oven, toaster, microwave, and coffeemaker. Plus, the hotel has some modern-day features like code key entry on door after 10pm for safety. The rooms are code key updated with the guest. There is WI-Fi in the hotel with plans to segment Wi-Fi per room which will allow streaming services but to me if you're worried about streaming services then why come on getaway weekend. Currently they have 2G to the building with plans for expansion. These suites are perfect for the long weekend or longer. We were so pleasantly surprised when we opened our fridge and found some wonderful cherry turnovers (suspect they came from the bakery up the block) plus a couple bottles of water. They say it's the little things that make all the difference and The Redland Hotel does exactly that. Each of the floors has a story to tell, unfortunately I can't capture all of it here. This is not one of the cookie cutter box hotels, but each room (suite) has a personality of its own. This Historical hotel sits almost in the middle of downtown Palestine which makes it a great place to stay for a getaway weekend. You can walk to so many different things, there is a bakery within a block, there is a steak sandwich, burger place within couple of blocks, a wonderful Tex-Mex breakfast place down the street and then an adult beverage store around the corner. Plus, other attractions like the Farmers Market on Saturdays and my ultimate favorite The Texas State Railroad Heritage Museum, this is a must for anyone that likes model trains. We are already planning our return trip!!!!

DO NOT BUY HERE We…read morebought a bed from one of their sales floor employees, trying to support local business. But the sales floor employee promised items were included that were not. Bringing it to the owners attention, they absolved themselves of any responsibility for the employees lies because they said "they were not the person that told the lies and they were not responsible" even though they fired the employee for doing this multiple times. If you hire the employee shouldn't the person who made the decision to hire the unscrupulous sales man take responsibility for their decision in hiring them? I would imagine the owner would want to make it right, but they didn't. This is terrible business practice and we will NEVER be buying here again.

When I walked in it was a whole different world of furniture like you would find at Aaron's or buddy's only this looked like quality stuff. Looking at the prices of things everything seemed very reasonable. I was greeted by friendly staff and it seems to me like it's family owned. They were welcoming, friendly, and down to earth. They finance through a third party which is great if you're on a budget and once approved it's like having the cash in your hands right then and there. They helped me pick out my new piece of furniture and even helped me load it. They noticed a little rain and even got a plastic sheet to put over my things so it wouldn't get ruined. All in all I was very pleased and I am a happy customer with intentions to go back and purchase another quality uniquely styled piece of furniture. Honestly this is what I imagined Texas would be like in a store. Strong, quality, friendly, and big. You just don't really know how great it is until you go.
