I found her polite, professional, articulate. But she did about the minimum in court where the judge was clearly out-to-lunch. Judge reluctantly ruled in my favor yet made idiotic and unkind comments about me; as if despite utter lack of evidence he somehow still believed my accuser's wild claims. Ms. Alt should have but did not push back and question him and demand explanation for his sketchy reasoning. Better, she should have done as I requested; to pack the record and leave no stone unturned. But instead, she let so much go unanswered that the idiot judge was able to convince himself of my guilt. After court she told me the judge was basically out-of-line for saying what he had about me. So confront the judge instead of dodging! Before court she advised me to act a certain way so the judge would not dislike me - which points to the crippling fear attorneys have - don't dare upset the judge. I reluctantly hired a legal guide knowing full-well that she would never know the case as well as me or be as invested; attorneys are just hired hands who are there and then gone. I should have done it myself. Lesson learned.

Honestly, while trying to find a professional, adequate lawyer, I did not do my research...... my fault and I take full responsibility for my ignorance. With that said, Ms. Kanski fell through. Because Durango is such a small community I unfortunately (or fortunately) found out that Ms Kanski was going through personal issues during the time I hired her for her professional services. She was unable to provide the services I needed and she was negligent professionally. She should have transferred this situation to another competent lawyer. I was the one that lost. Again, I take full responsibility for not doing my research. Now, I want to warn anyone who is in need and may be in a vulnerable situation. Do your research, take a moment and find a lawyer that cares for you. Lawyers are expensive and professionalism is important.
