He was okay on the phone on the initial inquiry, gave a couple of one word answers to messages we sent him like asking if he'd received our email, and then nothing. We live 400 miles away and the asking price was $38k, so maybe he just figured we weren't likely buyers or it wasn't worth the effort for a smaller commission. Someone is really hoping to sell that boat and Steve would be taking a commission and has contracted to try to sell this boat and is apparently not wanting to do any actual work to do so. I think this is lazy at best and violation of contract in actual fact. Someone is paying slip fees while this boat goes unsold and we've moved on to another boat.

When I sold my fishing boat I gave the buyer every spare part, accessory, etc I had. This broker scored every little thing off this boat that wasn't nailed down. I asked about the little stuff I noticed on survey and he said if it wasn't on the contract it isn't part of the boat. Surprised he didn't keep the furniture. Theres a nice davit on the boat and a very nice RIB tied to his boat. I was never offered the chance to purchase/negotiate that, and who knows what else he scored. Documents/legal/time/nogotiations were fine although he tried to brush aside some needed repairs. Overall a soured experience and I learned a lesson to be more mindful of my surroundings. Brokerage was fine but I recommend using a different agent.

Avoid At All Cost!!!!…read more I hate to do this because I love to see small businesses succeed but this experience was beyond horrible. I contacted Chad Pordes (aka Pordes Marine, Southern California Boatworks, South Bay Boatworks, possibly others but those are the three business names I've found him to be using) in mid September to service my outboard engine. He was informative and seemed reliable so I brought my engine to him. The next day he told me it was ready for pickup. Seemed fast but I appreciated the quick turnaround so I went to his shop, picked up the engine and paid him $388(over $100 more than he quoted me for the job). That same afternoon I ran the engine but it was worse than before, idled very high, had difficulty shifting into gear and would occasionally shut off. I immediately let him know but he told me that I needed to let the new fluids run through and that once everything burned off it would be back to normal. Fast forward two weeks and still no improvement. I contacted him again and he said that he'd take care of it. This is where things got bad. He said he couldn't duplicate the issues in his shop so he'd meet me at my slip the following day at 9am which was October 8. He was a no show and didn't even have the decency to call and let me know. Its a 45 min drive from my house to the marina so rather inconsiderate. I call him, he offers no apology but says he'll be there the next morning. Once again he was a no show. That happened 4 times before he finally came on October 15th. He looked things over and agreed that it wasn't running right but said that he wasn't able to fix the issue there and would need to take the carburetor back to his shop but would have it done and replaced in a day or two. I dealt with 3 weeks of his lies repeatedly telling me that he'd take care of it tomorrow. Obviously that never happened and then last week he stopped answering my calls or responding to texts all together. Finally November 4th I contacted the Marina Del Rey sheriff to see what my options where. I'm not sure if they contacted him or if it was just coincidence but about an hour later I had a text from him saying that I could pick up the unserviced carburetor from a box on his front porch. So now I have a disassembled carburetor and an unusable outboard for my trip to Catalina this weekend. It's unfortunate because he seemed like a decent guy at the beginning. If I had to guess, my assumption would be drugs. His behavior seemed consistent with an addict. Trying to earn my business he was friendly and responsive but once he got paid it was all lies until he finally cut off communication and tried to steal from me. Do better Chad

Once we signed an exclusive contract we heard from many people in the area that we had not chosen wisely and we found this to be true almost immediately. They only posted on one website, the text did not make sense, the photos did not flow (nor did they have captions.) I posted on a couple other websites as we were in a hurry to sell and this apparently breached our contract, but we turned up more leads than they did. The boat was listed at a lower price than we had agreed to, and then we were pressured into accepting an offer which was far below what we expressed we would be willing to settle on. Even though we paid the commission, it felt as if they were working more for the buyer than the seller. Not proactive, just felt as if they wanted to list it and let it sit until it sold so they could collect commission. Sometimes I would wait up to 5 days to get a response via email. I would suggest doing your homework and working with another brokerage in the Marina del Rey area if you are considering selling your boat. They get 2 stars because the did the paperwork and the check cleared.

CC Marine has provided me with great service on my Hunter 376 on three different occasions…read morerecently. The most recent was the replacement of a leaking fuel tank. While they had to subcontract out the fuel tank fabrication, which took a while (not their fault, I don't think), once they had the new tank, they very promptly installed it -- like the next day -- and got the boat back up and running. And I was truly impressed with how thorough and neat their work was. To remove the fuel tank required going through the aft cabin, removing the aft bulkhead, and lifting the tank out of the boat from down below. It was a big job. Once they installed the new tank, they very carefully reinstalled all the panels etc. that had been removed. They were very neat and tidy all the way through. Rodrigo and Manny were extremely courteous to deal with. Keep in mind these guys aren't cheap - in my view, they charge fair rates and give good value for those rates. Will gladly use them again.

Thomas reinforced my T-top, addressing the structural concerns I had, and also polished the T-top metal, leaving it looking noticeably better than before. He even fixed one of my blow fuses free of charge because he had extra in his bag of tools. It's hard to find a reliable mobile marine mechanic who communicates well, shows up when promised, and delivers quality workmanship, but Thomas checked all those boxes. I paid this guy $175 to come out and diagnose my jet ski. He told me he'd be here between 7:30 and…read more8:00 a.m. He didn't show up until 9. Because of that, I ended up being late to work. He was here for about an hour, didn't figure out what was wrong, didn't fix anything, didn't explain anything, and just left. No results, no answers, nothing. Later that same day, my uncle (who's a certified mechanic) came over and had the issue fixed in under 10 minutes. I reached out and asked for a partial refund since nothing was diagnosed or repaired, and his response was basically that "his time is valuable." That's ridiculous. So is charging people for doing absolutely nothing. Not someone I'd ever call again or recommend. Showed up late, didn't help, and refused to take any responsibility. Complete waste of time and money.
