Having initially gotten a quotation from Empire, we had a bit of a sense of what to expect in the sales process. Overall, the company did install great carpet and LVP in my home and were quite quick to do so. The installers helped to confirm my LVP was being installed in the direction I wanted and worked quickly, completing the jobs in a few hours. The only reason I didn't provide a 5-star review was for the reasons below: 1) Our sales representative was fine overall, but wasn't the fastest in responding or when I inquired about potentially putting a different pattern of flooring (e.g., planks placed in herringbone), he mentioned he had seen it, but didn't really offer it as an option. 2) The installation team left quite a bit of dust/shoeprints throughout my main floor in getting to the basement. Most other contractors in my home always bring drop cloths to avoid this. 3) We had just had our other contractors complete painting of the walls the previous week and after the installation team we had quite a few marks/scratches on the walls, some spanning multiple feet. 4) When the LVP team showed up and realized they didn't have enough materials, they asked me where they should leave unfinished - I feel like I shouldn't have been involved in the process. I paid for a completely floored basement, I shouldn't be involved in picking which areas are left undone. Still, Tim, their installation manager, did reach out after I reported the issues and was very gracious and willing to either schedule teams to come out or compensate us for our trouble. While I was able to resolve the issues above myself fairly easily, so didn't take him up on his offer, the fact that the company offered it was something I very much appreciated as all contractors will eventually run into issues, but it's how they respond that really makes the difference. Overall, I would likely use America's Floor Source again when we have flooring needs.

Jamie came out to look at the project and provide an estimate within a day after he responded to the inquiry. They began the work two days later. This was exceptional as I was not even getting a response from many other contractors or the few that did respond had a month plus lead time. Jamie and a crew of two others came out. I arranged my schedule to work from home. The day of the scheduled work I hadn't heard a confirmation on timeframe and reached out about noon. Jamie responded and said they were getting materials and would arrive shortly. I wished they would have given me a better timeframe and more direct communication at first but they came out and didn't cancel, which is more than other contractors I have tried to work with to complete the project. Once they were at the house they got right to work. They were pleasant to work with and had good manners. It ended up being a two day project. They were a lot more communicative on the second day of when they would be arriving. The work got completed but I wish there would have been more attention to detail. The work outside was good, it technically fixed the leak and they added some extra wood details but sanding the corners of the wood would have been nice. The mold was removed from inside, and I will say my wall was already at an angle, but the drywall repair is kind of raised up. I ended up taking off the trim work that was put along that wall and redid it myself. The caulking was above the trim and not smoothed out so I had to paint over it myself and now it is raised and makes my wall look bumpy. I wouldn't have minded touchup work as long as it was at least smooth. I am appreciative of their quick response to service (especially since I was dealing with mold and a water leak) but would say that detail to work quality should be taken into greater account. I feel like they rushed the work on the second day and I ended up having to finish a couple of things on my own and spending even more money.

Joe assured us that he would rectify everything , which he did without hesitation. We decided to go with the 18" x 36" tile which was a better color match and do an envelope design on the floor. It turned out better than we could have imagined. We are extremely happy with the craftsmanship and professionalism of all the workers and would definitely recommend Carifa Tile. Description of Work: We had the shower seat torn out and replaced with granite. The seat front, sides and shower basin were removed and replaced with tile. Carifa supplied the Schluter materials and installed them (Kerdi Board wall substrate behind the wall tile and Ditra Uncoupling membrane under floor tile). These are without an equal. There was a lack of communication during the home visit to prepare a quote. It was disappointing. We almost cancelled the entire project with Carifa based off that experience. The Owner, Joe, got involved when I called the Carifa office after no response from the salesperson. Joe listened to my experience, took over preparing an accurate proposal/quote. An important detail to note: each homeowner is responsible to select and purchase any tiles and certain Schluter products like edge or transition profiles. You can work with any supplier you want. The salesperson will steer you to The Tile Shop. They said they used to work at The Tile Shop. We had already purchased our wall and floor tiles from Floor and Decor. Carifa's salesperson started telling me we had purchased factory defective materials and subpar materials; something that is not true at all!! We had not picked up the tile from Floor and Décor yet so they did not "see" our materials but made these disparaging remarks. Why did we continue with Carifa? Because they used the Schluter products and had the installation craftsman. After getting past the preconstruction details Carifa sent Paco who prepared the areas where work was performed by covering all floors and furniture with protection. The same day Paco demolished and removed all the existing wall tile and materials down to the framing. Paco is a hard working, focused worker who kept our home clean during the demolition phase. No dumpster was provided during demolition and demolished materials were piled on our driveway until a dumpster was delivered a day or so later. After demolition Jack and Pedro arrived to complete the prep work and begin installation of the Schluter wall and floor products. I recognized quickly that Jack is a talented craftsman understanding that the products being installed under the finished tile are key to the final product. Jack kept us informed with everything he was doing including asking for our input regarding installation preferences. I cannot say enough good things about Jack. After he completed all the installation Carifa advertises they perform a "final walkthrough." It's also in the proposal. Jack completed all installation on Wednesday February 25th. On Tuesday of the following week, March 3rd, I had no communication from anyone at Carifa. There were a couple things that Carifa did not perform; sealing the grout that the proposal said would be performed 96 hours after the tile was grouted and reinstalling our toilet removed to install new floor tile. I reinstalled the toilet. I emailed Joe at Carifa of these items and asked for a (credit) for the items not performed. I never got a reply. On March 3rd I contacted Tom, Carifa's project manager, and asked for a status update and requested a date for the "final walkthrough." Tom came out the next day, Wednesday March 4th; one week after Jack had completed all installation work. Tom acknowledged that Joe had received my request/email for the deduct for work not performed and forwarded it to Tom. He spent a few minutes (literally a few) looking at both showers. Having performed hundreds of similar "close out final inspection walkthroughs" on projects I was ready to bring my Carifa experience to some closure. 3 weeks after the "final walkthrough" I received a final invoice that did deduct what I had requested. I promptly (the same day) paid the balance due. There has been no "thank you for your business" nor any communication from Carifa whatsoever. Here's my point: people who choose Carifa are going to pay a premium price for the privilege of having work performed. Carifa may use the finest materials available and have craftsman like Jack installing materials, but when everything before and after Jack is bush league and amateurish it sours the experience and make no mistake about it: you are paying for service too. The bottom line: would I choose Carifa again? Maybe. Having more 4 decades of high end construction experience I have not often been "the customer" but I know what a customer is. I moved forward with my eyes wide open hoping I would get the end result I sought after: two showers that will provide years of trouble free use. I believe I received that. Each person who has read this far will need to make their own decision. Lots of Yelp reviewers did not have this experience. My Ratings: pre and post construction experience gets a One (1). The installation work performed by Paco, Jack, and Pedro: I give Jack a 10, but Yelp limits the highest choice to 5 out of 5. Overall Carifa gets a generous three (3).

I visited America's Floor Source a couple of times, then had a conversation with one of the sales reps. I was pleased to know that there was financing available if needed and the rep agreed to come to my home to see the work I needed. She came and measured; then called and came back because she wanted to double-check the color she had chosen. That was a good thing, because in a different light, she was able to get a more accurate view of the color (we were matching what would be on the stairs to what I already have on my gound floor.) She ordered the wood and it took about a month to get in but once in, AFS called and set up the work date. I paid half of my total cost to get the wood ordered, and completed the purchase once the appointment for installation was made. I was given the date for the install and was told that the crew would be at my house between 8 and 11. They arrived right at 8. The "crew" was two men, neither of whom spoke English, but when I tell you they were professionals in the highest sense of the word, I don't do them justice. They came in, got the lay of the land, took the carpet up, and got to work, preparing the stairs and the hallway, sanding where there needed to be sanding, and letting me know the whole time what they were doing and why. They laid that hardwood with love and pride. The job took all day (they thought it would take 1/2 day) and when they were done, they totally cleaned up the work area. They took the old carpet away, swept up all dust inside the house and in the garage, where they worked, and then, as they left, reminded me to close the garage door. All of this might sound like a bit much, but I've had work done in my house in several areas, and good service as well as good workmanship has been hard to find. These guys were perfect!!!!! And the stairs/floor are gorgeous! I recommend America's Floor Source. I would use them again in a heartbeat!
