He is a highly valued person with the look of hope that things will get better. The clinic is very welcoming. It clean and well kept. The x-ray room is comfortable. Service is quick, professional and caring. The Paperwork is done efficiently to make sure you get what you need to complete your examination. No questions unanswered. Everything is explained. When you leave you feel this is a place I want to come back to because I am getting great care. read more

DO NOT go to Doctor Rosen! I am an avid runner. I went to him after my knee kept swelling which was the first time. I had an X-RAY and an MRI. X-ray all good MRI showed Miniscus tear which I explained I had 15 years prior and all swelling and pain in another area. He tried to push surgery in his smug, glib passive aggressive way. I went with the cortisone shot to his dismay. Got a second opinion and that doctor drained some fluid turned out to be Lyme disease which thankfully was immediately treated. Rosen didn't even give draining fluid for analysis as an option. If Doctor Rosen had his way he would have opened me up for unnecessary surgery and would have had Lyme undetected. To top it off they charged me for tests I didn't have and had to be re-embursed by my credit card company. He should lose his license to practice. Steven Hellman read more

I was run over by an SUV while in a crosswalk, severely injuring my foot, skull, and left side. Discharged from the ER with unclear instructions, I sought help the next day. Upper East Side Orthopaedics was able to see me, but they insisted I needed a referral which I later learned was incorrect. I explained my situation and that my ankle and foot were run over by an SUV tire. I asked if they were sure they could see me with such a traumatic injury. They assured me they could. Arriving with makeshift frozen pea ice packs (because the drugstore was out) and in a wheelchair, Dr. Andrew L. Rosen scoffed at my condition, kicked out of the room my friend who was assisting me, rebuked my pain reactions, and deemed my injuries beyond his skill. He couldn't believe I came to him rather than a hospital and said to go elsewhere. I left in tears unsure what to do next or how to find the right place to receive care. One of the best medical offices I've ever been to! It was organized, clean and very inviting. When I arrived I was immediately directed to an exam room to wait for a staff member. Within a few minutes they came to get me for an x-ray, the tech was very friendly and made me feel at ease. After a short wait I saw Dr. Rosen. He was able to do an ultrasound of my knee right there. He explained what could be causing my issue and gave me three options for what we could do, starting with the least invasive. I felt very comfortable with him and well-informed. I recently injured my leg and was referred to Dr. Rosen by a family friend. Due to the severity of the injury, they took me on short notice, something I am still grateful for. I waited in their lobby and filled out some paperwork prior to being seen... the office was immaculate and the staff was friendly. Once seen, Dr. Rosen was really easy to understand, prepped me well for my surgery, and got me feeling really comfortable with the entire process. Surgery itself was about as easy a process as surgery can be. When you're a runner, nothing beats hearing, "What race do you have coming up?" from your doc. I had taken a longgg pandemic-induced break from running and encountered some shin pain within my second week of activity. Got MRIs of both lower legs done and made a bee-line to Doctor Rosen's office although I hadn't seen him since 2014. My visit was seamless from the moment I entered the clean, brightly-lit office. Doctor Rosen examined my MRI results and reports closely and reassured me that I did not have damage to my tibia and did not have a stress fracture, which is what I feared. I understand that doctors have to move from patient to patient throughout their day but my visit didn't feel rushed. Just some solid advice to take it slow, some great recommendations for physical therapy offices and well-wishes for my Fall marathon. Hoping all goes well and I won't have to see him again anytime soon but know I'll be in good hands if I do read more

UPDATED REVIEW, 2017 : impending FOURTH ACL surgery! I have a rare and chronic condition that causes ligament weakness. I think of Dr. Rosen as my "orthopedic long term relationship." He is simply fantastic, through and through. Michelle, the surgical coordinator, is fantastic as well. Don't trust your knees (or shoulders, hips, etc) to anyone else! ------------- I am a veteran Knee Surgery Patient. I have had three prior knee surgeries (all on the left knee) since my late teens. Now that I am approaching middle age; sure enough, in September my right knee gave out. I saw Dr. Rosen. What I thought was a bad sprain was, unfortunately, a completely torn ACL. Aw, crikey. Never fear, Dr. Rosen is here. He repaired me in October. Admittedly I have experience with knee pain post-op. My three prior sugeries had hellish recoveries and debilitating pain. Not this time. I was in physical therapy 72 hours later (riding a bike, no less) and I was back to work -- taking the bus! -- in 7 days. I honestly say I didnt have any pain that a couple of advil and some ice couldn't cure. My recovery was textbook. I was working out three times a week, doing physical therapy, and feeling altogether amazing. Dr. Rosen called me his "ACL Poster child." Then the black hand of fate tripped me. Actually, it slipped me up on the ice, twisting and shearing my knee. Searing pain told me that only one thing had happened: i had torn the ACL Dr. Rosen had just repaired. Talk about devastated: I was facing a fifth surgery - and my second in just under four months. Dr. Amazing to the rescue. He reassured me that everything would be fine; and I'd recover even more quickly than the first time. I was skeptical : ACL revision is notoriously difficult. I don't know how he does it. His surgical technique is just short of miraculous. Today as I write this, four weeks after an ACL revision I am again back on my feet, am walking up stairs, around town, and I haven't taken an advil in two weeks. If you have the unfortunate luck to need knee surgery, I cannot recommend Dr. Rosen any more highly. To boot, he has a fabulous bedside manner, explains everything you need to know in detail, and is available by email to answer questions -- no matter how small. (of note: Dr. Rosen is a staff doctor for the NYC Roadrunners and he is an elite marathon runner! Damn, the guy is invincible) Im proud to be his "poster child" and am forever grateful for his healing me, once and for all. read more

After months of shoulder pain and physical therapy following a shoulder injury last summer, I was referred to Dr. Rosen for a surgical consult. Dr. Rosen is honest and straight to the point without being pushy or intimidating like some surgeons can be. Long story short- the surgery was a success! I had minimal pain and swelling just after the surgery and none to speak of in the 6 weeks since. I was impressed by the efficient manner in which everything was handled by both the surgeon and the office itself. Also worth mentioning is the fact that there are almost no visible scars where the incisions were made. Shoulder surgery can be tough, but Dr. Rosen and his colleagues make the process as smooth as possible. His surgical coordinator Franchesca in particular is really on top of her game. I had several different insurance benefit needs, all requiring stacks of different paperwork, and Franchesca made sure that each and every form was complete and accurate before sending anything off. This made things much less stressful for me, knowing that all of the paperwork was taken care of in an efficient and timely manner. I don't wish shoulder surgery on anybody, but if you must, I'd highly recommend Dr. Rosen. read more

I was staying in the Upper East Side for the month of July and had an elbow injury that needed to be addressed. Looked up local orthopedists in the local area and came across Dr. Rosen. After reading the reviews I decided to make an appt. I was able to get one the next day. Dr. Rosen and his staff were attentive, caring and was easy to talk to. Unfortunately, it took me 3 weeks to get an appointment & my knee didn't hurt nearly as much as before (when I could barely walk). So there wasn't much to be done, except xrays and a PT prescription. Had an Achilles tear repaired by Dr. Rosen two years ago. His office and admin process was good. But my surgical outcome I feel could have been better. I've lost a few degrees of important dorsiflexion, which is very disappointing. I can't speak to his skills regarding other repairs, as they may be very good. Just based on my specific experience, if my other other Achilles were to tear, I would seek an ankle specialist. read more

I was shocked when I saw Dr. Andrew Rosen to realize what incomplete and short-circuited care I had been receiving from a rival practice; namely Manhattan Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Group. Dr. Rosen has an inherent understanding that to give a comprehensive exam and to provide a comprehensive and attentive treatment plan at the very first visit is the best way to circumvent a lot of follow-up time and phone calls from patients who may leave still confused or uncertain. While other practices, such as the one I cited above, take short cuts to mass process patients, Dr. Rosen provided the complete set of one-stop-shop answers during my visit. Dr. Rosen gave me a steroid injection with the aid of an ultrasound to make sure the treatment was as efficacious as possible. This is a matter of routine course for him. The other practice declined to do so because of the extra time involved; all of 30 seconds. Dr. Rosen offers hands-on care at its very best, and the staff is extremely caring and responsive to patients as well. read more

Accompanied my wife to an appointment with Dr. Rosen at Empire State Orthopaedics in Manhattan. She had had a bicycle accident and had broken her clavicle among other injuries. The experience was uniformly positive. Intake was efficient, the nurses were empathetic and appropriate, and x-rays took all of two minutes, accomplished by a likable tech. The office is very clean, modern, and everyone who works there is highly competent. I only waited about 5 minutes before I saw Dr. Rosen. He explained my issue is both technical and non-technical terms, explained the options including the pros/cons and reasoning for why I would do one of the options over the other. I loved that I didn't have to try to figure out questions to ask, but he basically just explained everything very clearly and added touches of humor to lighten up the situation. He's also not a surgery-junky, but instead said, let's do a month of PT, and if it's not better, we can do an MRI. He also framed it in a way, where I was in control of my body. He offered to send me to do an MRI now if that would bring me better peace of mind. I really appreciated that he didn't request a bunch of tests that may not be necessary. Overall, I fully recommend him, and I fully trust him. He's very smart and knows what he is doing. read more

Despite the fact that that my satisfaction with surgery has been optimal, the post-surgery service has become a nightmare. For any appointment, and I have had 4 after the surgery, the average waiting time over my schedule has been 1hour and half, with a staff who provides no further apologize or comprehension about the patient. Lot of room for improvement if you want to become a reference in such a tough city. read more

I've been going to Dr Rosen for probably over ten years now. When I first started, I was a young runner who wasn't sure she'd be able to run her first marathon. I'd trained so long for it and was upset about the whole thing. Dr Rosen cared about two things- my health first and crossing the finish line second. And happily with new orthotics and some I crossed the line happy and healthy. (And tired!) He followed up with me personally and even called to see how the race went. Years later I sill go to him for any sports and ortho needs I have and he's as helpful and nice as could be. Lovely offices and staff to boot. Best doctor I've EVER had (and I have a lot). After being misdiagnosed multiple times by other doctors, he knew my problem right away - chronic exertional compartment syndrome. Not only did he diagnose me properly and quickly, but he recognized my need to be operated on as soon as possible and was able to fit me in within the month. He was completely open and honest about everything including his experience with my rare condition. I'm so grateful for all of his advice (I wanted to do both legs at once, he recommended one at a time - he was right) and his continued care and bedside manner over a year after surgery. He has graciously accepted my request to be a reference for me which is beyond what a doctor is required to do for a patient. He never stops being the nice helpful doctor I met over a year ago. Searching for a new orthopedic surgeon after a number of dissatisfied encounters, we came upon Dr. Rosen. My wife and I have been going to him for the past two years. My wife is very active - spinning, zumba, pilates - and has had problems with her arthritic knee. Dr. Rosen has been a God-send with his diagnosis and treatment. I had a problem with my knee for 20 years. Two weeks ago, he operated on it. After surgery, I didn't even need to take any pain relief. I enjoy his manner, his wisdom and his treatment.
