I was cited for speeding. Given the difference between the speed limit and my alleged speed, I was not eligible for traffic school. The fine was almost $500. If you haven't had any experience with a lawyer, I wouldn't go to this guy... I'm sure he's a good lawyer based on looking at his reviews... but I personally didn't have a great experience with him, and everyone will always have a different experience from others. When I paid him, he didn't contact me at all to confirm payment until I asked him a week later. I had to constantly ask him to update me on any changes with my case, which can be worrying. This whole time I had to ask him what was going on so I finally asked him if there was anything that I needed to do or if my ticket was taken care of because he was always so vague, he said I didn't have to do anything and didn't need to show up to court. I just took that answer as everything was done, and there wasn't anything I needed to do and I can finally relax. Nope, this morning I got a failure to appear letter in my mail. I look back in my emails and saw that he emailed me 2 months ago(2 months after my last email to him) saying that the officer who gave me the ticket showed up and I had to pay this reduced fee(I was never notified of his email, but I blame Gmail for that), it would have been nice if he could have called me or left a voice mail saying he sent an important message to me since I never confirmed the receipt. I called him about it because I was a little rattled and wanted to get a better understanding about what happened, and I know he's a lawyer and all but he got defensive and had a "not my problem" kind of attitude. It's not his problem, but that's not what I was calling him for. Other people can say otherwise, but I personally don't think he is very professional and I didn't feel he did the best in his ability to help his client. I'm partly responsible for my case not going well, but it would have made a huge difference if he just gave me that call when I didn't confirm receipt, and kept a good attitude. I'd strongly suggest going with another traffic attorney in the area. Here's why. I hired Mr. Roberts for a traffic ticket. He gave me this story how he represented the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers and helped clean up his record and how knowledgeable he was doing this for over 20+ years. Once the payment was made, everything changed. He stopped responding to my emails. I tried to confirm if he received my payment, he ignored it. I sent a 2nd email, he ignored that. I had to call him, then he said oh, yes, you owe me $175 payment don't you! I said, no I paid you that and if you did not receive the payment? Where is it? Oh, let me check, yes I received it. After that call and chasing him a bit, he did become more responsive, however his demeanor completely changed. He told me on the phone, that I was a convicted criminal for doing a minor traffic violation (illegal turn). Every time we spoke, it was your eligible for traffic school, luckily, right? I can plead you out by getting your fine slightly reduced and you just agreeing to a guilty plea. The whole point of hiring an attorney is to get you off!!! I guess, Mr, Roberts missed that part in law school. Anyhow, how did my trial go? The Sheriff showed up, I'm sure Mr. Roberts did nothing and then he withdrew the not guilty plea and turned it into a guilty plea. Not surprised at all. Do yourself a favor, do not listen to the 5 star reviews, they must be for a different attorney because I definitely received a zero "0" star service and level of defense from this so called "attorney."
