Staff very helpful and good to deal with…read more Just been be warned the fees are eye watering. You'll pay commission and a seller fee, amounting to 35% of the sale. This is massively higher than other auction houses we have used. So just bear that in mind. They also ignored our request to sell the nicer items individually, instead throwing the entire lot into a junk box. This was quite disappointing. We wouldn't sell there again.

The…read morefirst time we moved to London from America we bought all of our furniture here, and a lot of great decorative items and amazing crystal vases. Insanely cheap too. And when we were ready to move back to America we simply gave them a call, they picked up all our stuff, and sold it for us! We got back about 80% of what we'd paid. Not bad at all for a year of a house filled with nice antiques, and a bunch of great items that we took back home to America. Now that we're back in London, I'm sure we'll return to the Southgate Auction Rooms, even if we live a bit farther away.

I placed a Bid of £40 for an Item on sale for an Estimate between £30 and £50 there were no other bidders and my Bid was acceptable and was well within range of Sale and was prepared to go a lot lot higher. However the same happened with other bids that i had placed on items in the same auction, nevertheless Semley Auctioneers closed the auction and surprisingly did not give the results for public viewing to their customers with the following message attached to their online easy live auction, as follows:- The auctioneer has chosen not to publish their results. Contact the auctioneer for more information. They Seem to pick and choose their own prices and will not accept your bid or offers unless it suits them. Not really an auction and totally unprofessional on their behalf. Please do not waste your precious "Time" with these boffons. Please stay well clear and spend your money elsewhere that at least values you as a Bidding Customer. Trust me it takes a lot for me to write a bad review.

Not a good experience. They described a 9K gold bracelet as 18K gold! It was obviously plated to…read morethe naked eye...they offered less than half the difference in value to me to make up for it. This, after waiting patiently. They also suddenly had an "admin fee" instead of refunding me my VAT as promised. I would avoid...there are far better auction houses out there.
