As I usually do when traveling I left the menu up to the very capable Marcus and Christine, with one exception I needed a chartreuse platter ( had a craving), all other foods were left to them. Christine paired the wines and suggested some I had never had ( variety is the spice to life). An amazing 5 hour goose reduction bone broth with pappardelle pasta with the most tender non gamey goose meat with amazing flavor and richness- ( Marcus we know your secret ingredient) Then a risotto I can still taste as I write this review. Sausage, pine nuts and a truffles. The richness was just amazing and Marcus if I can suggest take that amazing broth you made for the goose and make that into a sauce for the risotto ( I had some mix on my plate and ...WOW) Still Hungry... Not really but had to try one more of dish on my last night and Marcus did not disappoint, a long grain Basmati rice with a beef/ butter/ tender crazy good curry dish. All gone and now the desserts, the wine pairing that Christine just knocked out of this world. Then meeting the older of the 2 sons helping shut down and clean up and getting a tour of this old pub that Christine and Marcus renovated 2 years ago. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!!

Heng Long may be a little more out of the way than other Asian groceries in Köln, but I will always go out of my way to go there. On my first visit I had a list of: makgeolli, rice flakes, peanut paste without sugar or palm oil, sliced refrigerated rice cake, aloe vera drink, dried bean curd sheet, etc. The store had exactly everything I was looking for and more. They also stock gifts, novelties, and cooking instruments. From me to you, it doesn't get better than Heng Long!

This is by far the most complete Asian markt I found in Cologne. It is a bit hidden behind aral tank station in universität but once you look closer it is there! The products range from lots of country and brands, they also have varieties of frozen food especially seafood. Sushi ingredients are by far complete here, and other seasoning can also be found here. They also have so many varieties of noodles, instant or not. The down part is that it is quite pricey, but still acceptable since all asian products imported to europe are also quite expensive. Overall, i find it really nice and you can also sometimes find some asian cooking tour group wandering around the store, if you are interested you can sign up for an asian cooking class.

We only shopped upstairs but they had a good supply of fruit, crackers and veggies. I would have liked to buy some prepared fresh veg, carrot and celery sticks, etc. But they didn't have anything like that. There salad bar was mostly prepared salad and didn't look appetizing. But we bought grapes and blueberries in packages and they were good.
