Lyssi tells me that she's been wanting to try a good 'beer place' that a friend was RAVING about about a few months back. says it's around route 3 somewheres. the iPhone will get us there... two casks taps! nice. craft beer on tap. great bottle selection. WOW ! As soon as I stepped in I could not help but to stare at the beer fridge towards the back. I love to try new beer and the variety they have here is amazing. I've been going to Andy's for about a dozen years. Not terribly convenient in terms of location but TBH it's got some of the best global draft beers and wonderful regional IPAs in these parts (northern NJ). Not terribly large either and parking is a bit of a hassle to be truthful. Maybe spots for 10 at the bar and five tables. No television allowed (love it) - after all you're going to relax and chill and maybe strike up a conversation. Choice of beers on tap is always sensational and they've got some of the deepest selection of German and Belgium beers that are impossible to find around here. BYOF (Food that is) Each of these beer served with a hard pretzel on a stick. Palette cleanser boom. Beers on tap are really awesome. You dont run into the run of the mill "craft" beer that some dive bars put out. You get random unadulterated beer fueled greatness. Also the bottle selection is pretty awesome. They had a good array so you could find a beer for any person. From blondes and wheats, to sours and stouts. It had everything across the board. This place is pretty cool to meet up with a couple friends. Bring a deck or cards and a couple snacks and just hang. read more

Best tap selection I've ever seen at a bar. I am a big IPA fan and i was able to try 6 of there IPA's they had on tap before leaving. 2 of which were in oak casks. They have an awesome beer selection and there whiskey selection is good to0. Oh yea, they also hang a little hard pretzel on every beer you order. fantastic. read more

Came to the annual Troegs Tap takeover. Like always, it was a great crowd of true beer lovers, the Troegs staff was there to chat and hand out giveaways, and the quality beer flowed. George poured some great beers including Mad Elf, two scratch batches , and my favorite Nugget Nectar! Perhaps a misnomer, as this place is situated a few doors in form the corner, Andy's is a welcoming place for a selection of local microbrews that will not be found anywhere else. The atmosphere is divey, but clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly, and eager to enlighten regarding the craft beers on offer. In addition to several regional and local microbrews on draught, they also include a few cask conditioned which are almost always a pleasant choice. The only detractor on my last visit was a lingering haze of cheap cigar smoke. There was no smoking in the bar (by NJ law), but one or two of the patrons chose to ignore this, and it was not addressed by the staff. read more

One of the best hidden gems in Teaneck. There is never the same beer on tap, and rarely the same faces sitting across from you. George, the bartender, really knows his craft and really takes the time to know each and every beverage that is stocked on his shelves (I'd sometimes see him listening intenetly to distributors), and he is open to giving recommendations and iving tasting samples for the curious amongst us. There is a single television usually playing the news or baseball, but really this isn't a hangout type of bar: this is a place for people who enjoy good booze and treat it like an art, and who want their beers served with a giant pretzel on the side. This is one of THE craft beer destinations in either New Jersey, or New York. Great beer selection (and liquor selection: happy to say I was able to get a nice taste of Booker's here), reasonable prices, quiet patrons, and you can order in if that's what you're in the mood for (or grab a slice from Papa's pizza, right next door). Who is Andy, and why isn't this place on the corner? Ok, now that that's out of the way, let's get to it ... Do you love beer? If yes, go to Andy's. George and Barbara, the owners, are as nice as can be, and ultra-professional to boot. Everyone who is anyone famous in the world of craft beer has been here. This is the ultimate neighborhood watering hole, and as old-school as it gets. If you are a beer snob like I am, you will be constantly drooling over what gets tapped here on a daily basis, let alone on special nights. Plus, there's a beer club with rewards for downing 100 different beers in a year (with milestone bonuses at 33 & 66 along the way). I'm a sucker for stuff like that. They are incredibly knowledgeable about beer, and will discuss any beer topic with anybody. If you're a vet, you can chat it up about the industry or brewery stuff. If you're still learning, talk about your taste preferences and they'll find you a beer to match and explain why you might like it. You can ask to sample anything, but this is true of any real craft bar. Another thing I like is that there aren't any crazy, random prices for the draught beers. Order a pint, get a pint, and it's all $7. It may be a little steep (relatively speaking, but come on, what's an extra $1), but lots of other places will cut you down to a 9oz. pour for things like an Ommegang seasonal. Also, if you are going to be there a while and need some food to go with your high-gravity beers, you are welcome to bring in your own from one of the local businesses. There's an Italian and a Mexican joint within a 30-second walk, and both are cheap and good. My first time at Andy's, even though nobody knew me, I was offered pizza and empanadas by the local patrons. Gotta love being included when you're the new guy. That put me on my way to being a semi-regular, with more frequent visits on the horizon. read more

The bartender George is one of THE nicest people EVER. Makes me so happy. No shortage of interesting and delicious beers on tap, I learn so much every time I go - and they're more than happy to pour you a sample or make a recommendation. Only a couple drawbacks: not much space, not much seating (which they generally don't need), and sometimes it can smell a little funny. First. A corner bar should not be in the middle of the block. On the edge of a residential area, this small bar is overflowing with great craft and imported beers and better yet, beer knowledge. George, at the taps, was a fountain of beer knowledge. No BS here. Great beers, served right. I love the idea that they make no bones about not serving food by letting you order in or bring in your own. The night I was there, they were killing the kegs in prep for Oktoberfest. No pretenses. When its gone, move on. The patrons are beer savvy and if you're a beer judge, homebrewer or just a out and out beer snob, you'll be able to strike up conversation with anyone in the place. These folks love beer and it shows. I'm also a lover of American Whiskey and noticed a fine selection of premium bourbons above the bar. The local bar has a decent line up of beers on tap. Other than that the place is flat. Filled with locals trying to fill there beer lists (One patron hit is 100th beer...impressive, more impressive this dude drank 100 beers in this joint, really). TV wasn't on. This is the best beer bar in the area! George, the owner and usually the bartender, is a beer expert and can recommend a beer to suit your taste. If they don't have something on tap that you like (which they usually do since there is a wide variety of styles), you can definitely find something in the case which has probably a hundred more rare and unique beers. The taps turn over a lot so you can try something different every time and the kegs are always fresh. They have a 100 beer club, and with the case full of at least that many plus the constantly rotating taps, you really could try that many different beers in a year! Check their Facebook for a list of what's on right now, plus news about events and tap takeovers. The atmosphere is pretty basic, just clean and classic and dim with no frills. There is a jukebox and a tv, but I'd rather strike up a conversation with any of the characters at the bar. Overall, this is the best place in the area that you can go to drink beer. read more

I first visited this bar in October '08 while visiting my sister. They specialize in micro brews that are offered on a rotating basis. I still think about the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout I had. George was the bartender that night and he was so knowledgeable about beer. The bar also has a package license so you can mix and match beer from the cooler and take them to go. Next time I'm back in NJ, I will make sure to stop at Andy's. read more

Great place to go if you are a beer nerd. Even if you are not a beer nerd, coming here is like Beer 101. George at first was analyzing my license for like 10 mins(i look young, but still was not a good experience...minus one star for that George)which sucked, but I understand he's trying to cover his butt. He's the bartender and he is very knowledgeable about all beers and can help you find YOUR beer. I was reluctant to walk in that Wed. night, thinking it was a bunch of older people, but it was cool. We met someone who knew people we knew and had nice conversation. It was almost closing time, but we didn't feel rushed. George let us try a few samples and I had the Carton IPA, and a Harpoon summer ale which was too light for me. Each drink comes with a nice little pretzel that prevents us from getting too sloppy lol. No music or TV's going, just good conversations. The beer selection is constantly rotating and I definitely will be back and will bring everyone who enjoys this beer culture to try some of his beers on tap. He also has a fridge with bottles you can purchase as well which is perfect for late night when most stores are closed. Love this place!! The place is a little on the small side but cozy. It's more of a bar for locals but the 4 stars is because they have on cask which not a lot of places have. The first bar I entered in my life to have a drink, when it was on the actual corner and had no signage, I joined the 100 beer club and everyone from Bogota was a regular in the late 80s and early 90s. Went recently within the past year and was shocked with it's new vibe and feel but still feels like home, the pretzels are a great touch. read more

i'm very fortunate to have andy's corner bar as my local pub...i truly believe that it's the greatest little corner beer bar in america - and i've been to hundreds of them...don't let the fact that it's no longer on the corner throw you; it's still the epitome of an american corner bar...it's family run, friendly as hell, and as comfortable as an old t-shirt...i've been tasting beers at andy's since its beginnings as a real beer bar back in the early '90s...george, who runs the place with his wife barbara, is very knowledgeable about the brews that he serves...he'll never steer you wrong if you ask for a recommendation, and you can learn a lot about beer if you listen to george and the conversations all around you...the place has no food, no live music and no one cares - it's all about the beer...you can call for takeout if you feel the need, but go for the beer and the people; the selection of both is wonderful...10 taps, 2 hand-pumped casks and ALWAYS fresh beer, plus another hundred bottles or so in the cooler...i've sat and tipped a few at andy's with none other than "the beer hunter" himself, michael jackson, who wrote this about andy's on his beerhunter.com website: "When I am in the New York area, I try to visit one of my favourite pubs anywhere in the world: Andy's Corner."...andy's is a real gem, so don't just think about visiting - go there and enjoy! read more
