Not worth the hype :( Angelina Cafe is a very popular and viral cafe in Paris known for their hot chocolate. It is also popular for its Mont Blanc and other desserts. I waited in line for a little less than an hour for a table. Do note, that you can go in and bypass the line if you just want to order to-go/ just grab a pastry. There was a long line when I went. The interior of the cafe is BEAUTIFUL. It is so pretty and the ambiance was amazing. The decoration was so pretty, coquette, and perfect for brunch or a snack. The property is also quite large with two floors and many tables to accomodate the crowd. Food: Unfortunately, I do not have good things to say about the food. I ordered the hot chocolate, a paris brest, and a croissant. The hot chocolate was indeed rich and decadent, but it was almost like drinking melted chocolate. To be fair I am not a chocolate person, so perhaps others will like it. Actually yes, I will give Angelina a point for this one because I do think chocolate lovers would like this drink. It was very rich and creamy. The croissant was not great. It was dry, not buttery nor fluffy on the inside. I didn't try the paris brest, but my friend said it was just okay. You can expect to wait in line to get in to Angelina, but the line moves fairly quickly. The hot chocolate is the best I've ever had, and could very well be the best in the entries world. It was so creamy, smooth, served hot, on the sweet side but not too rich. It was absolutely perfect. You definitely need to use all of the whipped cream to cushion the hot chocolate to make it lighter and frothier. I also ordered the croissant roll, scrambled eggs on a bed of bread with comte cheese on top. It was fantastic. Pro-tip: wait to shop at the boutique until AFTER u eat at the Cafe. They give u a 10% discount on their goodies (just not their cups). We went for the experience of it and it was a gorgeous place to take pictures. OLD FASHIONED HOT CHOCOLATE (L'Africain) €8.20 I'm l not a big fan of dark chocolate and this was a very rich chocolate, not quite dark but not milky enough for me even with the added cream. I came here and decided to voice my opinion on this over hyped discriminatory place. Now that I read the reviews, seems like we were not the only ones to get poor treatment. We waited in line for more than 30 minutes and finally got to sit. This is totally okay considering how famous this place this. The problem started after seating. We had to wait another half hour to just put our order in. Our server wouldn't even acknowledge our presence but was so friendly and chatty with the other families. Not sure if this was racist (we are brown skinned), but we noticed so much difference in the treatment towards us versus other families. Our waiter was very rude, made no eye contact, wouldn't even talk to us. We weren't even served water despite asking thrice. Finally ordered the citron tart and Paris brest and both seemed dry. Tried their iced chocolate since it was a hot day, that was okay but not worth the cost. It took us additional half hour to even pay the bill. My suggestion to everyone reading this review is to not waste your time and not buy into the hype, rather pick another local store that will provide much better service. This place was in our list for the longest time, and we're so glad we went here. The line gets long, and we waited probably about 30 minutes. The interior of the place was spectacular. Fantastic breakfast spot. My wife and I were recommended to come here before our trip to Paris. Thankfully we listened and showed up early. There was a line before they even opened and had to wait for over 30 minutes. The table we were seated at was super small but everything comes out in small plates so it fits. The inside is gorgeous and really made it a nice date spot. Even the bathroom seemed kind of fancy but a little run down. The food was incredible. I don't think I will ever have a glass of orange juice that good again for the rest of my life. Their jams were also wonderful and paired well with the assortment of breads at our table. I did however order the omelette and can say that it could have been a little better but I have very high standards for omelettes. The hot chocolate is iconic in and of itself. Each sip tastes like how a brownie would taste if the whole thing were melted and condensed into a small sip. Decadent, luscious and thick, the hot chocolate is almost a meal by itself. My salmon eggs benedict was perfectly balanced. The hollandaise sauce was not too rich, but just right in terms of flavor and texture. The salmon was tender and complemented the crust of the english muffin it was sitting atop perfectly. My eggs were perfectly poached and oozed onto everything below in a delightful drip. My partner ordered a plain omelette. It was light and fluffy, and lightly buttery.
