One of our daughters experienced a very complex medical issue that landed us in the hospital with multiple admissions. We felt like we were left on our own to navigate this very difficult time. She had chronic respiratory issues and there were times I asked for multiple referrals to further investigate what was wrong with her. It felt like it was an inconvenience to send those instead being open to investigating all options. We often felt shrugged off. In the end, the specialty that diagnosed her problem was the referral that he didn't want to send. One of the times when we were in the PICU with our daughter, he came in and told us we should stop using her home pulse ox on her foot. I truly believe that thing saved her and actually ended up providing helpful information as she was aspirating and would drop into the 70's in her sleep. What a truly inappropriate time to even bring that up to very scared parents. We have since been into the office for an unrelated issue with the NP. There was concern of possible strep. A rapid swab was done as well as throat culture but the culture was never sent. I sent the provider 2 messages to follow up and she never responded. Super frustrating experience.

She's a very busy physician so plan your appointments in advance and she occasionally runs slightly behind since she's technically working on children's time since they're not always the most cooperative patients. Her rooms are clean and well maintained. The waiting room has a lovely saltwater aquarium and play area. She does a wonderful job simplifying things when necessary and answering parental questions. She doesn't rush you and our daughters both love her. I'd highly recommend her to be the pediatrician for anyone looking for a new physician for their child or children. She's the best!

I had a lot of qualities that the Doctor would need to possess and needless to say Dr. Allen went way above and beyond. My son was born woth a rare genetic disease which did not really take full effect until his second birthday. Dr. allen was able to see he was showing signs of delay very early on and referred us to the early start program. He was so kind as to encourage us with a message of hope that we would help Finn overcome his challenges. He was able to supply us with healthier options for teething issues, as well as, giving us advice on sleeping and preventing fevers. Dr. Allen helped us navigate the devastating turn shortly after my son's second birthday. After a two month stay at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, our first stop was to see Dr. Allen. He was very quick to help build back up the encouragement that Finn is going to do exactly what Finn is going to do. Dr. Allen has given us a deeper insight on labs and diagnosis, he has been wonderul at giving us supplements to help combat the side effects for the nasty medication he needs to be on and hes helped with pain management. He has also given us so much help when we have emergency hospital visits. He has supported mothers intuition (which has been right thus far) he has referred us to compassionate specialists. All I can say is, we live Dr. Allen. I've waited a few weeks to write this review- I wanted to make sure I wasn't coming from an angry…read moreplace I brought my daughter (16yr old) To see Dr. Allen because of high sugar levels/borderline diabetes in October. We are a family that eats very healthy; no seed oils, everything organic, very minimal sugar. No sodas, no processed or boxed food. Nothing microwaved. My daughter is very active in sports, she runs and weight lifts on weekly basis- yet has a very hard time loosing a single pound. We don't eat out, no fast food. So the high sugar levels and extremely low iron levels puzzled me. Thinking something in her gut needs to be fixed, or her thyroid is out of order. I had a handful of tests that I've already had Kaiser order and brought those to the appointment. To my surprise, the doctor didn't order new tests, didn't suggest new tests, and hardly reviewed the tests Several times he asked her if she was stressed. Several times- as if to have her change her mind. My daughter said she stresses over school- but nothing out of the originally and nothing on the extreme levels. The push was for stress lotions and his own vitamins that was created by him and his office. I was hoping he would do an exam on her, maybe to see if her glens were swollen, or look at her tongue- none of that done He spent an hour with us... and brought in a box of vitamins and lotions. My mistake was buying everything he suggested. We even paid for a bottle of vitamins that they didn't have in stock- but promised to send them in the mail. I had to call 3 weeks after the appointment and they forgot to send us the items we paid for. Office is disorganized. They did apologize for the mistake- but I should not have had to call to look for the vitamins weeks later after paying for them. I carefully chose this place, because he is an MD and practices holistic care and because of the yelp reviews. But it was my mistake In choosing this practice- because all he wants to do is upsell his own vitamins and lotions and not recommend anything else. Very disappointed in the appointment My daughter mentioned in the car that every vitamin looks the same and joked that we bought sugar pills. What about the one Call # resolution Sutter is going downhill At this office, maybe they shouldn't accept so many patients knowing that kids are gonna have to wait six months For rescheduled appointmentsI've had issues where my kid can't get an appointment for six months for vaccinations, but they're blocking out times in the day for sick kids when it's already holidays and the doctors are always off yet the sick kids instead of getting same-day appointments which has never been available in the past of me having sick kids is super inconvenient And also makes no sense since Sutter offers emergency rooms, walk-in clinics and urgent cares all over Sacramento that could be utilized for sick kids instead my kids should have to wait six months to reschedule their physical I Was speaking with a medical assistant of Dr. Sheng her name is Melissa in my experience she's always had an attitude and is super rude. I've always ignored it this day when I reschedule. She offers me an appointment six months out gives me all these excuses as to why my kids can't be seen during the holidays and all these appointments that are blocked out she doesn't offer me a message to the doctor which I know is an option. She doesn't offer me a slot on the cancellation list but because I explained how I felt about appointments being blocked off for sick kids and I made a comment that maybe some of my kids are older. I should take them across the street to family medicine. Maybe it'll be easier to get appointments. She took it to the Doctor Who took it to the manager. Her name is Christina and they decided to send me a letter that if I was rude or disrespectful again that my kids would be Dropped from their program I called in regards to the letter they put the manager Christina on the phone from the moment we got on the phone as I'm explaining everything I can hear her tone of voice she seems irritated or frustrated. You can tell she has like a pre-opinion. I could tell that she was on the medical assistant side and then she kept saying uh-huh, yeah uh-huh yeah the whole conversation didn't justify any of the things that I said, and then when I said that the medical assistant was rude in my past, she said well there's two I knew her by name. I've been going here for 13 years. She probably hasn't even been there as long as we've been patients Christina tells me well yeah we made that decision together and basically they're standing on it so I'm gonna look for a new office for my kid but all of this time that they're putting into dropping somebody that's been there since they were a child and I'm now in my 30s that they could be putting into ensuring that these people that they employ and pay all this money every hour is doing their jobs and it is also conducting themselves correctly on their end I think the office would be a lot more successful like it used to be before. Christina probably became a manager. I honestly think because I know she has access to my chart and can see that I called back and spoke with somebody else and I told them that she didn't do her job thoroughly that she complained on me to the doctor and the manager cause I wasn't rude to her freedom of speech, I can have an opinion instead of trying to drop me or my kids instead, they should be trying to take the advice, but they just lost someone who always has spoke so highly of this office even my sisters are grown and went here since kids
