CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN DINNER
Reuben M.

We came to eat here after my nephews game. It was extremely busy. The waitress was mostly attentive. Everyone at our table was served in a timely manner, except me. How did they know I would be an Elite Yelper? lol. They forget to make my food and the waitress went MIA. My chicken fried chicken was overcooked and dry. This is an excellent place to come out and hang out with your buddies and drink beer. Not so great when it's extremely busy, and looking for good eats.

This place is ok. If you're looking for a stop while traveling it was nice for the kids to get out a play. The food is just ok. And it's a dad friendly place which I don't mind but we had dog hair on our table.

Frozen Jack N Coke, so refreshing!

This outdoor oasis is a great gathering spot for friends, a date or even alone. Food was good , more of an elevated bar menu. The best surprise was the frozen Jack N Coke! When driving through the Texas hill country this hidden gem is absolutely worth the pitstop! Service was a little slow but it didnt matter as much getting to hang out in a beautiful atmosphere.

Angel's was closed for remodeling when we first moved to the area and we noticed they were open recently, so we stopped in for dinner. The outdoor area is family (and pet!) friendly. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, having seen tables get turned over quickly and were cleaned meticulously. All of the servers made sure to give my dog attention, too, bringing him water and a Milk Bone (twice his size!). He gives two paws up for having been treated like a hooman. Our drinks were delicious and our entrees were fantastic as well. There was live music that night. It was nice to be able to enjoy the music from a distance, so we could enjoy having our conversation as well. We didn't end up walking inside at all, so we will have to go back to check it out without our 4-legged friend one day.

SINGLE BURGER

We come to Angels almost every weekend! We love the live music, the beautiful spacious outdoors seating, and the kids love the playground and room to roam! My favorites are their Brussels sprouts, queso, and sliders! But my MOST favorite is the Angels Meltdown! Yummmm We have also had the pork chops and chicken fried chicken that were delicious! We always have friendly and fast service!

Turkey burger with onion rings

Sunday lunch at Angel's. Wife had a cheese burger. Daughter had the Turkey burger. I had the bacon mushroom Swiss burger. All very good. For sides you get French fries plus for an up charge we had onion rings and fried okra. Onion rings and okra excellent- fries not as hot as they should be. Today they had a guitar/singer on the back stage. Lots of families with little kids. Plus it's dog friendly. Just a fun place. Good service. Fun place to grab a beer & burger. It's a 5.

Southern Belle

The food was fantastic, and we loved spending an evening on the patio watching the kids play. Highly recommend the Southern Belle sandwich (+ buffalo sauce if that's your thing), and the lemon ice box pie.

It was packed and there's a reason. Great bar-type food and homemade. Great place for kids to run around and catch sports on tv.

Stopped by for brunch, but it turns out they only serve lunch…read more I ordered the pesto pasta with salmon, and it was excellent. The menu said penne pasta, but what arrived was a different pasta shape, rigatoni maybe, that actually worked better. The sauce filled the pasta, so every bite had plenty of flavor. The salmon was cooked nicely with a crisp exterior that added great texture to the dish. My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, and unfortunately his experience wasn't as positive. The first sandwich had to be sent back because the shrimp were so overcooked they had the texture of chicharrones. The staff quickly remade it, but the second sandwich was only slightly better. Part of the issue seemed to be the size of the shrimp. They were quite small, which makes them much easier to overcook. Considering this is a seafood and steakhouse restaurant, we were surprised by the size and quality of the shrimp. That said, both our waiter and the manager were very kind and responsive when addressing the issue. We chose not to send the sandwich back a second time, and my husband simply didn't finish his meal. The iced tea was delicious. They prepare it tableside using something similar to a coffee press, which made it taste especially fresh. And the view? Excellent as always.

We were excited to try the food, and were hungry. Our server appeared (I can't remember his name but he was a short guy with blond hair). I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered beer to begin with. He went away and then came back asking my husband if he wanted some whiskey cocktail, and we corrected him that we had asked for a particular beer. No big deal. We then ordered the deviled eggs and shishito peppers, and the red fish and short ribs for entree. A lady brought us the drinks, and the deviled eggs. Our server swung by and then disappeared. We thought the shishito peppers were on their way. We waited for what seemed like a really long time and still no shishito peppers. We also noticed that each table had a carafe of water except ours. We were just given water once, and then our server never bothered to fill the water up. Anyway, we kept waiting since there was no sign of the server. At this point, we felt he might have forgotten the second appetizer and we just did not want it, but he was nowhere to be found. A man (not our server) brought out our entrees. We then told him that we had been waiting for our second appetizer and would just want to cancel it. We asked if we could get the biscuits instead. He brought out the biscuits within a few minutes. Now this is where it really annoyed us. Had our server just come over and said he had forgotten our shishito peppers, it would have been okay. Human. What he tried was act smart and dropped by saying the shishito peppers would be out to which we said that we didn't want an appetizer after an entree and had cancelled it. I almost felt like he was treating us as if he thought we don't really dine out or whatever and he could just make fools of us. This really didn't sit right with me. We asked him for water and he filled it up left. The food was above average. The short ribs were good but my red fish had been hammered! The biscuits were good. The deviled eggs were good as well. Anyway, we finished our meal, and got the check, paid, and were waiting to finish our drinks. The receipt was on our table. Also, note, it was not a particularly busy day with several empty tables. What our server did next was absolutely unacceptable. I think he wanted to see if we had tipped him after his awful service. We did, but not 20% as we always do because of the soddy job he did, not to mention his attitude. We paid 15% which I think was more than what he deserved now. Out of nowhere, and mind you, after being absent for long periods before, he just came by, grabbed the paid up bill from our table to our shock, while we were still sitting and talking, looked at the bill, turned towards us, and muttered something angry under his breath and walked away. I have never seen this level of entitlement and bad behavior. We left right away. We had been really looking forward to this meal but I would not want to go back. The food was good, but not great, and I would not want to put up with such obnoxious behavior as a paying customer.

We had four appetizers, and each one was (a) larger than expected and (b)VERY tasty (mushrooms, calamari, fried pickles, and boneless chicken *wings. The place was ROCKING full, but our waitperson was there for us very fast, both in taking food and drink orders -- and the barstaff/back of house delivering. Full restaurant: FIVE minutes max. Friendly. Not just our person, but two others that I observed while seated. Ambiance: How can you measure that in a totally full restaurant? I _guess_ it was good. Table was clean, as we seats and bench. Noisy but not too noisy. Good AC. My only grumble is that the pretty front door facade is set up so that there's no rain cover. They offer standard American fare and our waitress did a great job juggling our orders all while being efficient and kind. I made a reservation online easily which is recommended because they can get busy, especially on a Saturday. I tried their artichoke dip which was decadent and served with chips. I got so full from that that I just had a stuffed baked potato as my main course which was really good too. Their beers were reasonably priced even for drafts. They also have fun specialty cocktails aptly themed to the history of the restaurant. We're planning to go back another time for brunch and to enjoy the town of Kingsland a little more. We were treated to a gorgeous Sunset on our visit but left before we lost too much light given we all drove from San Antonio and didn't want to be on the smaller hill country roads too late at night.
