Three American women, in early 70's, in great moods after a lovely day of shopping in Historic District, walk into this store . We were completely ignored, no greeting or welcome. One found a piece of furniture. We were told NO we do not take American dollars, NO we do not accept American credit cards (on a purchase of almost $200), and NO we cannot help you carry to car or maneuver piece out of crowded store. After insisting on a debit card, which we provided, saleswoman adamantly insisted it was not a debit card (ridiculous because it was) and charged an additional $15.00 because it wasn't a debit card (although it was)! It was a contentious, unfriendly experienc! Yes, we absolutely should have walked out, but friend really wanted the piece. Have never experienced anything remotely like this anywhere els!! We remained civil, but it was not easy. THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANYTHING LARGE OR EXPENSIVE AT THIS STORE...especially if you're American and their clerks don't know what American debit cards look like...even when it says " debit" on the card!

In many cases both are run by people with little personality with more pride in their "if you break it, you bought it" sign than keeping a nice shop. This place is mostly a random assortment of junk, but there are some nice pieces of furniture and occasional interesting bric-a-brac. Prices here are reasonable for what it is- a small shop in a quaint old town. The owner seems willing to deal-something that is not often the case in the world of antique shops. On a hot day, it is very hot in the shop. The smell of oldness is much worse on such days. The good news is that can't be that often.
