The tiny green spot are the stitches, super minimal

Although the office was a little in the middle of nowhere, the pink buildings are very easy to spot. I took my cat to get spayed here a few days ago. She is healing amazingly and the incision area is very well done and minimal. They are very professional and even offer free carriers for during your fur baby's visit if you don't have one. Super affordable, will be returning for any services my baby needs. Highly recommend.

This is a non-profit low cost spay/neuter & vaccination clinic they also do nail trimming & microchip for your dog or cat. The staff is very friendly & passionate about animals. They love volunteers & donations are greatly appreciated. They will answer all your questions. I am a very satisfied customer I got 2 of my dogs vaccinated, chipped & one neutered. I highly recommend this place.

We drove all the way to Santa Barbara to pick up our kitty. We were told by Paws World Wide that we were getting a 2 to 3 old Siberian mix. When we showed up at Pet Smart in Santa Barbara. Jude's foster mom had us meet him. Dr Jeffrey J Hermann put our cat at age 2 to 3. In reality he is actually anywhere between 8 to 10 years old. This is heart breaking because we were expecting a young cat instead of a senior cat. I will attach pictures of proof that this quack doesn't know what he is doing. He can't even tell the difference between a 3 year old cat and a 8 to 10 year cat. At my vet, the tech who took him out of the carrier said awwwww he is a cute old man. Apparently the tech has more insight than Hermann. I am just so disappointed with Jeffrey J Hermann I promise to never recommend anyone you to. I honestly believe you are a burned out vet who LIED to an organization that is trying to do good out there. smh

    Home and happy.

Best place for standard pet services. The techs are great. I was in and out in minutes for a nail trim on my lab.

These folks don't just provide care, they deliver peace of mind, and sometimes (like in our case) they rescue your sanity, too. The Sock Incident. Let me set the scene: Our new puppy -- adorable, energetic, and apparently part goat -- decided that a sock was a delicious mid-morning snack. One moment she was bouncing around like a cartoon character, the next she was lethargic and clearly uncomfortable. My heart dropped. We called Companion Animal Clinic, and before I could finish explaining, they said, "Bring her in right now." No hesitation. No "next available is in three days." Just concern, urgency, and compassion. When we arrived, the staff was already prepped. They took our pup in immediately, reassured us with calm professionalism, and treated the situation seriously -- but without the panic that was clearly all over my face. They monitored her closely, performed a thorough exam, and gave her exactly the treatment that she needed. She recovered beautifully thanks to their quick response and genuine care. Beyond That One Scary Day: Every visit since has confirmed the same thing -- Companion Animal Clinic is a rare find. The staff is caring, patient, and responsive: They don't rush you through appointments. They explain things in language that is easy to understand and above all gives you options. More importantly, they always follow up to check in, which, let's be honest, is the kind of above-and-beyond care you just don't expect anymore. Final Word: Whether it's routine checkups, emergency sock extraction, or just a team of professionals who love animals as much as you do, Companion Animal Clinic is a blessing to this desert community. Our puppy may have poor judgment, but at least we had the wisdom to bring her here.

Why We Love It Here 1. Services Galore From full-service grooming to vaccination clinics that never charge a visit fee, Petco makes pet care easy and affordable for all our various (and continual) puppy needs. 2. Grooming: Tail Wags Guaranteed The ladies here are pawsome. While GSPs don't need a whole lot of grooming, we see our dogs' fluffier friends leave here tails wagging and owners smiling. 3. Training & Community Whether it's puppy classes or adult obedience, each of our pups--big, medium, and "will-sit-only-if-I'm-snacking" small--has thrived. And it's a comfort knowing they're learning from certified trainers. 4. Lastly, it warms my heart to see their pet adoptions. Knowing that local people are finding their new pals there and that the furry companions are getting a forever-home means the world to me and my children. My only frustation is that the lines can be a little long and it's not always easy to find help, but I try to remind myself that these people are not only caring for the community but also changing lives.

Sometimes people wanting to surrender an animal might hear a no and become confused and upset- as some of the lower starred reviews reflect- but those people do have the option of surrendering their animal to the city or county-run shelters in 29 Palms or Yucca Valley (or doing the work of rehoming their animals themselves). Staff here obviously do the best they can and prioritize the animals. This facility is clean, the animals are well cared for, and the employees are very invested in the placement of their cats and dogs. I appreciate that they work hard to find the right fit for each animal to increase the chances that each placement is forever. The adoption fees are also an absolute steal considering the fact that the animals are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, healthy, etc. Earlier this year, I adopted a kitten from the MBHS and that decision might be one of the best choices of my life so far. Whoever socialized my cat did an amazing job because she is confident, playful, curious, snuggly, and good-natured. She's been a joy and I can tell that the folks at the Humane Society invested a lot of time and care into her. Also, since the MBHS already had her spayed, I didn't have to deal with a week of an unhappy cone-wearing cat which, honestly, is worth the adoption fee right there. The Morongo Basin Humane Society is a community treasure and deserves as much support as possible.

It pains me to write a review like this for an organization I once loved and supported, but recent…read moreevents involving JTNKS' euthanasia practices and mismanagement of community-raised funds have compelled me to speak out. I write this as a former employee, foster, and adopter of the last 18 months. On June 13th, 2026 the President (also Shelter Vet) and Vice President of JTNKS made the unilateral decision to euthanize a dog in their care without following euthanasia protocol, contacting additional support, or attempting to de-escalate the situation in any way. Boone was a sweet 2 year old boy who had overcome a troubled start to life and made immense strides since his time at JTNKS. He had bonded with kennel staff and could easily be handled by capable volunteers for dog walks and play time. Although fearful of strangers and prone to barking, he had no incidents of bites, lunging, or aggression. Boone was waiting patiently for his forever home with someone who would help him overcome his fears. June 13 at 9 am, Boone was scheduled to be picked up from his current foster home. Here he had been relaxing for the last 4 weeks with a highly experienced foster. He had been getting structured daily walks, had his diet improved, and bonded and cuddled with the foster's cats. His pickup by the JTNKS President was a preventable disaster. Despite knowing Boone's history and fear, the President showed an abysmal display of animal handling skills. She attempted to muzzle a dog with a history of excessive rabies pole use that made him very sensitive around his neck. She neglected to call in any number of people who had bonded with Boone to help her handle and move him when she was unable to. She neglected to try any form of chemical restraints to lower his anxiety and fear during the transition. She set him up for failure and made him pay the price for her own shortcomings. At 1:23 June 13 his body was cremated at VCA. He was brought in already euthanized. Supposedly he was deemed too aggressive and needed to be killed for safety. Boone was a dog I loved deeply, and his death leaves me with many questions. At what point was the decision made to euthanize him? Was the Board of Directors informed? Why were JTNKS behavioral euthanasia protocols not followed? Why were staff, volunteers, or fosters who knew Boone not contacted for help? Why was a dog with no documented bite history euthanized? If he was truly too dangerous to handle, how was euthanasia safely administered? Why did he remain listed on the website for ten days after his death, and why was his foster told he had gone to another home? To my knowledge this was only the second time the President had ever met or tried to handle Boone. This is a person who is not qualified to handle shelter animals if her immediate reaction is to euthanize. The entire high desert community should be outraged at these actions. JTNKS touts itself as a place where animals can go for safety and even claim they want to "end euthanasia in our region". Well JTNKS, perhaps you can start that mission with yourselves. Shame on all of you. While a completely separate issue, the JTNKS shelter has wasted $597,000 on new shelter buildings that are completely unusable. These buildings have been deemed to have so many issues with their materials, spacing, design that it was decided they would have to be sold back or completely redone. This project has been bungled from the start and I cannot stress this enough: DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THIS ORGANIZATION. They do not keep accurate books or budgets. They have no idea what they are spending on or how to manage large projects. They are lighting piles of cash from Woof Walk and estate donations on fire. Your donations are being abused and are not going to the well being of the animals. $250,000 was also donated from the County for these buildings so even if you haven't personally donated, know that your tax dollars are also being squandered at the Joshua Tree No-Kill Shelter.
