They gave "immunizations to her dogs that were actually nosode shots( not real vaccines). She was not told that her dogs were receiving them. They took the dogs out of the room to administer the shots. They proceeded to mark off her vaccine records as if real vaccine were given! The female was spayed in September and bloodwork was drawn. The white count was extremely low as well as neutrophils. The lab was marked okay & the vet's signature. I'm not a vet but I do know this is not normal & could be indicating a much more serious condition. She was not informed of these lab results. The dog began vomiting & bloody diarrhea. She called the vet's office & told they could not get the dog in for over a week. They do not do emergency type cases. She called her old vet who saw the dog immediately. The dog tested positive for Parvovirus. She was given medication & sent home. The next morning the dog was lifeless. She immediately took her back to the vet who had seen he & she was admitted to the dog hospital. She had IV fluids & antibiotics. She seemed to be doing a bit better but died the next day. Do not use this vet unless you want your animals to die. Maybe a real vaccine would have prevented this or if the dog had a compromised immune system, maybe if they would have caught this, she would have survived. This is too emotional to go on. Firstly, they do not take into consideration the ability of people to pay for services and instead use guilt to induce people to continue to pay for care even in cases where there is little to no quality of life for the animal or where he believes he could get a few extra dollars. He recently treated a cat, charged a few over a thousand-yes I said thousand. Then sent the cat home without instruction for care, since he doesn't offer after hours care. Meanwhile the cat got significantly worse, when owner returned the animal due to severe issue ( the very next day) he blamed the owner when the cat passed for not monitoring constantly without having given any instruction. Shifting his responsibility to a grieving owner. What a lack of professionalism. Meanwhile he didn't lack charging additionally. This is a use at your own, and your animals, risk clinic and make sure you have a full and open wallet for this man.

My poor baby had a heart condition and hyperthyroidism and Dr. Hughes gave him a steroid shot! You should never give a pet with either of those conditions a steroid! My poor baby was dead 3 days later! We had been going to Dr. Hughes for several years now and it was know my cat had seasonal allergies and had asthma. Typically when they got bad Hughes would give him a shot and he was better, but since 01/01/2025 my husband and I noticed he was struggling more with his asthma. He had started to open mouth breath a couple days before our appt with Hughes. When we showed up on 1/9/2025 Hughes didn't act with any urgency nor did he do any labs or imaging. Just gave him a shot and sent us out the door. The next day our cat had a rapid decline in heath, so much so we had to take him to MedVet 24 hr Emergency care in Carmel. Immediately he was triaged and was put into an oxygen cage, labs and imaging done. Found out he was suffering from severe hyperthyroidism, toxic congested heart failure, he had a pleural effusion that was drained and had nodules in his lungs. When the ER vet found out he got a steroid shot he was livid. They did their best and told us without the steroid shot he might have lived a couple more months and been comfortable but with the steroid shot he wouldn't have long. He had to be put to sleep the never next day because he was struggling so badly!!! I went to Dr.Hughes to tell him what happened and to ask for my money back for his negligence and essentially expedited my cats passing and he laughed at me! He then told me he wouldn't give me the money back and tried to put the blame on me and my husband. He was really sarcastic with me and asked "would giving you back that $95 dollars really make you happy?" I was appalled by his lack of caring or the lack of guilt in his part of my cats death. In the end I had to be a bit if a Karen to get my $95 back and then was given my records and banned from his office. GOOD! No one who cares for their sick pets or elder pets should take them to Hughes unless you want them to die to his negligence!!!

Kyle then said he called Tractor Supply RX (TS RX), and they stated that they had no record of me buying prescriptions for the time frame in question. This was the second time he called me a liar. Kyle went on to explain that this is the consequence of buying prescriptions from TS RX rather than from them. The office manager did not understand why I called him a few choice words. You cannot call a person a liar without ramifications. They fired me (their words) and then closed out the call by saying, "God bless." This situation exemplifies a subpar veterinary clinic with insincere Christians, an insulting vet tech, and an intolerant office manager in charge.

The care our cat is given is so heartwarming and even though he goes several times a year since he has special needs and gets grumpy to leave, our furbaby knows they all love him and take such good care of him and he "loves" them back. I absolutely love this clinic!!
