You can find brushes, paint, yarn, glitter, presentation boards, markers, pencils, basically anything you need to make your next masterpiece for decent prices. They don't have an incredible amount of stock, but they'll cover the basics. Normally however, they bring out exactly what I asked for. This may just be luck but it works for me all the same. The shop is small and rather old fashioned selling a range of paper, stationary, paint, canvas' and art supplies. The same man has been working here for all the time that I have been going to the shop and is very well informed and helpful. Expect to pay slightly more than you would in larger art and stationary shops, but for the ease and practicality of shopping here, it is well worth the extra pound or two.

Believe me, this was not a customer service induced question; they obviously thought I was bad news. I told them that I was looking for Post-its and when they heard my American accent their faces were visibly relieved. When I was finally taken off of the Stationary Stealers Wanted Roster I got a chance to peruse the store. They have everything you need for your office or for your studies at reasonably cheap prices. I paid £1.30 for a packet of Post-its and I'm quite happy with my purchase. They were quite happy with my purchase too and as I exited the store they were all smiles. So if you're not up for travelling to the nearest Ryman's and you live in the area, this is a good place to go for your clerical needs...unless you're wearing a hoodie.

Since then, and since attending Dr Sketchy's wonderful life drawing classes at the RVT, I have been back a few times to browse and a few times to buy art supplies. This is not a bad thing, but knowing it's so close really tempts me to keep going back and spending far too much money on lovely paints and pens and brushes and stuff, even though I can't draw to save my life. There always seems to be a few good deals available on certain items, though not to the extent of the sales Cass Art runs all the time, and some of the staff are really helpful. There was one grumpy man there once who referred me to his colleague rather than answer my question himself, then glowered at me as he scanned everything in at the till, but everyone else I've spoken to have been pretty nice and didn't make me feel stupid when I asked basic questions about materials.

They have a fine selection of the best quality oil, acrylic and watercolour paint. They also sell paper, canvas, brushes and easels. They also have a great range of gifts such as globes, pencils, photo frames, perfect for the artist or writer in your family. The only downside is it is a bit pricey.

The fabric that Fabric does sell is nice and good quality, so if they stock what you are looking for then it is not a bad shop.
