We parked at Ann Morrison Park after floating the Boise River from Barber Park. Parking is free and the park is huge, beautiful, and full of activities. It is especially great for dogs with the large off-leash Dog Island that has open play areas and even a swim pond. This 153-acre park was created in 1959 and also hosts events like the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic. Highly recommend it for a fun day in the sun! read more

Ann Morrison Park remains to be my favorite of all the parks Boise has to offer. It's well maintained, offers beautiful scenery and is very dog friendly. My husband (then boyfriend) used to live in apartments while attending Boise State University so we came to use the park quite often. My absolute favorite part was the winter season when the park allowed dogs off-leash from November through February, supposedly to help with Boise's insane goose population. It always made my heart so happy to bring my fur babies to meet and play with other dogs (although he probably enjoyed the people and pets more). I wasn't the only one. The park became so popular for pets, Boise City elected to have a permanent dog park constructed to be used throughout the year. Additionally, the park is a wonderful place to enjoy a stroll just about any time of the day. I love evenings the most. I've seen some beautiful, sunset skies swallowing the silhouettes of trees flaming potent hues of pink and orange. Best seasons are definitely spring and fall. That's when the park can truly flaunt it's beauty. Now that I've moved away from the DT Boise area I'm unable to frequent this park as much as I'd like. Ann Morrison is a large sprawling park that extends from Americana Blvd to Capitol Blvd. They have a large play area for the kiddos, a large splashtastic fountain in the middle, frisbee golf course, a ball park, tennis courts, and plenty of areas for picnicking. Being right along the Boise River, they have a couple outlets with picturesque bridges over the water. The only minor annoyance is that you can't get from one side to the other without actually going out and then back in. Ie: In attempting to get to the tennis courts via the Americana entrance, you have to actually drive through the entire park, go out, around and then back in an entrance off Capitol due to all the one way streets. Ann Morrison Park is a large, beautiful urban park. Even though it's less than minutes from downtown, you will be surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. There are paths for biking and jogging along the Boise River, as well as plenty of space for playing catch and a playground including toddler swings. You can also have a picnic using one of the many tables scattered throughout the park. Today we enjoyed a peaceful lunch before walking along the river, watching the ducks and playing in the park. It wasn't terribly crowded, but the park is so large I can't imagine ever feeling overwhelmed by people. read more

We have gone to Ann Morrison park several times. It was the first of the "Named" parks in Boise. Each time the North-West portion of the park has had hundreds of birds. Mostly geese and ducks, with a few other birds present here and there. They have taken over the grass areas and the ponds. The South-East portion of the park, where most of the playing fields and group areas are located, seem to be pretty free of birds. The birds are nice to look at, and it is nature in "the wild", but they bring along their droppings and generally act like they own the place (which in their mind they do). If you go to the park we recommend you stay on the Southern and Eastern portion. read more

This park is a Boise Staple! Located right along the greenbelt/Boise River and equipped with loads of open fields, walkways, baseball fields, volleyball courts, restrooms and places for kiddos to play, this is a catch-all park that really brings the community together. Aside from its availability to the public for everyday use, this park also houses numerous festivals and happenings that make Boise, Boise. It is home to The spirit of Boise Balloon classic, (in the past) 4th of July Celebration, food truck rallies, races and more. In the summertime, you'll also find folks exiting the river here after floating. I've used this park for practically everything I've listed in this review: their baseball fields, volleyball courts, getting out of the river after floating, and a few festivals/city-wide celebrations! Overall, this park is fantastic! Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are SO MANY geese here. And...well, geese are evil. Plus they poop everywhere. If this wasn't an issue, I'd have zero complaints about this park! read more

Company founder Harry Morrison bought the 153-acre property and developed it in honor of his wife, then donated it to the city. A beautiful park with lots for the kids to do. The playground is modern and up to date with plenty of room. The sitting for the adults is on a wide amphitheater like seating and there are ample park benches and picnic tables with shade to choose from. This is also the location to get off from tubing down the Boise river, so it tends to be quite busy. The bathrooms are clean. There is also a huge fountain where you can cool off or get drenched. The only issue was that there was moss build up around the fountain and we noticed a lot of people (our son included) slipped a lot. Someone could get hurt. Wish they would monitor that a little better. All in all, this park offers nice nature walks, a bit of hiking, play for a day, or run around on the wide open grass spaces. Great park! Free. Fun for little ones as there are a variety of swings, jungle gyms, slides etc to accommodate all. Perfect for picnics too- lots of sprawling green lawn, trees, park benches & picinic tables. Cumbersome & confusing one way roads through out though. read more

I have only visited Ann Morrison park a couple times this winter. I love that during the winter, Ann Morrison park allows the public to bring their dogs here offleash! It is their way of deterring those annoying geese from taking over the fields. The couple times I've been here, I was presently surprised that the fields were not littered with feces. Great job Boise dog owners! Keep it up, I would love to bring my dogs here for years in the future for a good game of catch! I am excited to visit in the summer as well. They allow you to consume alcohol in certain areas in the park. I am thinking a nice picnic and wine is in our future! read more

Beautiful and huge park next to the river that is very close to the city. Great location for soccer, dodgeball, volleyball or any other sports. They even have disk golfing stations which you never see in Seattle. Would definitely check this park out again next time in Boise. read more

WONDERFUL PARK!! I love this park. It is well maintained and has enough parking spots. There are plenty of amenities: playground, water fountain, tennis courts, bocce ball courts, volleyball court, Frisbee golf course, softball fields, horseshoes courts, etc. And plenty of tables, benches, and shades make it a perfect place to do a birthday party or any gatherings. We've done a company summer picnic here a couple of times in the past. I'm not sure how many shelters they have, but it is free to use. But you need to reserve it in advance! Our company (about 30 people and their families) has reserved a shelter, catered food, and rented a bounce house for the little kiddos. The parks & recreation staff were great! They were very flexible and accommodating. read more

This is a nice urban park, centrally located in downtown Boise. Toys for kids, water fountain during the summer, lots of big shady trees. My hubby likes to come here for frisbee golf. It is a really nice walk which I enjoy doing while he plays. Park runs along the Boise Green belt, which provides additional opportunities for biking, walking, etc. The Boise River river float ends in this park, which seems to be very easy to access. There are many picnic areas that can be reserved for parties. Bathrooms are ok. I have been when they were filthy and when they were clean. In the frisbee golf area, there is only an out house which sucks! Favorite annual things to do at Ann Morrison is Fourth of July fireworks (free, great show, lots of vendors there all day), the Hot Air Balloon Festival ( in August) and local supported events like Art in the Park. I believe they also have an annual Beer Fest. read more

I've been taking part regularly in 5k walks for almost a year and a half now, and many of them take place in Ann Morrison Park (along with Julia Davis Park). My husband and me have also taken to Sunday strolls in Ann Morrison Park. The paths are well maintained and well marked to allow for both foot AND bicycle traffic. Benches are well kept and perfectly spaced along the way in case you decide to take a load off for a bit. I love that there are so many amenities.. river access, playgrounds, picnic facilities, Frisbee gold, a bocce court and a cricket field. In the warmer months I love to sit near the fountain! Boise is luck indeed to have such a jewel in the heard of urban downtown. read more

I think that Boise has one of the best park systems in the cities I've lived, especially as the city continues to grow as it is doing. This particular park has a giant fountain the kids can play in, a nice Frisbee golf course, and a playground or two. I love how all the parks downtown are connected by the greenbelt! read more

This park is excellent. The green belt that passes through here is very well maintained. There are several open fields for playing sports. There are multiple pavilions for picnics and parties. There is an outdoor gym that is fun to exercise on. There is great playground equipment for kids. This is usually where people get out of the river after floating & in the summer there is a shuttle to Barber Park for $3. This park is as good as it gets. read more
