For all intents and purposes a kiosk, searching from paid parking placing it far left of the main entrance looking towards train tracks, it is upon entry that guests are greeted by multi-lingual staff, at least French, English and German overheard in the course of ten minutes spent decision making and paying the nearly 20€ tab. Best known as a Chocolatier, but also a Confiserie with elegant Meringues, Cakes and Candies, it was taking items to a standing table inside the terminal that tasting commenced mere minutes after purchase, the crisp snap of sugar first yielding surprisingly subtle sweetness bolstering toasted Pistachios before the Cocoa-dusted version presented more predictably sugared but still texturally elegant. Looking next at Gmeiner's Linzer Torte, its premade nature predictably compromising Crust that seems to be made of Oats and ground Almonds, the better choice for Pastry comes as a polished Dark Chocolate Tart that is soft at its center while Chocolate Bars in an array of intensities seem well-crafted based on a single choice of 40% blended with Honey and thinly sliced Nuts.

What a pleasant surprise :) So I turned back around and went in- and there they were! It was a tough choice though, because everything looked great, not just the macarons. There are also a lot of chocolate flavors which look absolutely stunning and some pastries. There was a little line, but to be honest, I was a little skeptical, how good can a place in a central station be? Well, very good! The macarons are bursting with flavor and not rubbery. 1.30€ a piece, not too bad! I had the cassis and cherry and I can't wait to try some of the others... Passion fruit, lime or peach - and there's more to choose from The girls at the counter were pretty nice as well and I have a good feeling that I'm gonna drop by this place at least once more before I head home to Berlin.

The place is incredibly welcoming and the waitresses are all extraordinarily friendly! Everytime I went there, the pastries were different and sooooo good looking that I always take one with a marvellous hot chocolate (yes, the ones with a chocolate block at the end of a wood spoon!) that you let a bit melt before drinking. All the cakes seem natural and hand made and I am broken-hearted to leave Frankfurt just because of this place, because my studies are over... As, it is very central in the Altstadt of Frankfurt (and just next to the biggest church), you cannot miss it and you would definetely go there if you visit the Römerberg. GO THERE!

I spent over an hour making my selections and paying. I decided to settle into a table for tea and pastry in the balcony. It was a very snowy day and after I got my coat off and settled in I had an employee quite loudly yell at me in German for sitting at the table I had selected. Everyone turned and was staring at me in the balcony. I picked up my things and put my coat on and left without waiting for my tea. I also purchased many items, one for my granddaughter. They had gotten one of the items in a box from the back room. When I arrived home to the USA, it did not work. So, if purchasing items such as a music box etc, make sure it works.

In fact a fourth generation Baker, great-grandfather Georg having originally opened shop in 1907 before moving to the current location, those interested in Konditorei & Confiserie Jamin's goods will find the Café open Monday through Saturday from 10h00, a lack of Breads or Viennoiserie placing them in a different category than nearby competition including the likes of Huck and Eifler. Long and narrow in terms of size, Pralines plus packaged Confections up front and Cakes lining a case in back, it is largely on German tradition that Cathérine's current collection is focused, 3-5€ each first yielding a dense slice of Spice Cake punctuated by Sour Cherries that serves equally good as Dessert as it would for Breakfast alongside a cup of Coffee. Allowing next for Austrian influence, genrous wedges of Sacher Torte for just 4.10€ dazzling with reflective Milk Chocolate Ganache and Apricot Jam brightening a Dark Chocolate Sponge, it seemed only right to finish with Jamin's take on Black Forest Cake, the individual rounds decorated in Cocoa shavings potentially Frankfurt's best rendition thanks to boozy Fruit that celebrates the Kirsch part of Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.
