Even the Little Caesars my friends worked at in high school seems unchanged in (not a day over) 5 years. Okay 20. And this barber shop remains a fixture. It doesn't quite harken back to the 1950s, as evidenced by the fact of an all female staff. But this really is a neighborhood, stripped pole, straight razor, barbers. If that neighborhood is the whole of Novi. Case in point was when I stopped in before my high school reunion to get my head shaved (because the other people who were bald at 28 were not on the guest list). While I hadn't been to the shop in years, they instantly recognized me as my dad's older son. To be fair, my dad's a regular here but my stylists remembered facts about me that I didn't. And the three barbers on duty swapped stories about Novi and the surrounding areas that kept me enthralled. While I wish they would have shaved my scalp a little closer (but not with the razor they used on my neck), it was a complete service for $15.00 including the tip. And I'll take that price and a bit of nostalgia over any salon.

There was one girl there cutting someone's hair. At 6:35 a second girl, Carrie, showed up. She said there were "computer issues" which made no sense since I had just called in an hour earlier. She then just gave me the worst hair cut I have ever had and I'm 63 years old! My wife burst out laughing when she saw how uneven the sides and back of my hair are now. Not even close! Carrie was clearly on something and she should not be allowed to hold scissors.

Walk-Ins are welcomed. "Here is where I can be a guy without going into a salon where a bunch of women are getting their hair done," . "I can watch sports, have my hair cut by a bunch of beautiful girls and have some good conversation." Everywhere I look has a pub feel without the alcoholic beverages being served. (TV's at every salon chair, countless pictures of sports pictures thruout the place. Even a Tim Allen Tool Time style Sears Toolchest for the hairstylists to store their clippers and what not. Prices and services they offer are listed on the picture posted. I highly recommend this place for all ages. They told me they have 15 other locations in Michigan. Unfortantely at this time this location does not have free wifi. No shoe shine booth. I will check back on this facility in the future. UPDATE: JUNE 04, 2011 - ===================== I deceided to drop their rating down to 2 Stars, instead of Five, As I received my credit card statement. And I paid $21.00 (which included Haircut for $16.00 + 2.00 Shampoo + $3.00 Tip). The cashier said loadly to other customers " Thank you for the $3.00 tip" and then when I verified my credit card statement from them they overcharged another $5.00 because they thought I wasn't keeping and verifiing my credit card statements. You better check to see if they ripped you off too. All I can say is the service was great until they purposely overcharged me and I had to file a complaint with the bank to get credited that $5.00.
