This place is huge when compared to other outlets. There is street parking right outside or on the side street. Easy to access. I came in the morning and there were not a lot of items then. I bought some buns and cakes and baked pastry. The cakes are the old school sponge cakes with buttercream filling. Not very sweet which is typical of Chinese bakeries. The egg tart is ok, as is the chicken pie. At $4 for the chicken pie, that is pretty expensive. There are some gristle and cartilage in the pie which make it very unenjoyable. I have had better chicken pie elsewhere, same with the egg tart. The buns are nicer if consumed on the same day as they become harder the next day. The beef curry bun is lacking in the filling department. The ham and cheese is the better bet. Again, you can probably get better tasting more generous filling buns elsewhere. Maybe this is a place for cakes, especially whole cakes for birthdays and such.

Heard locals rave about this Chinese bakery chain! And indeed their cakes are delicious! Fresh ingredients, moist cake, jam-packed with fillings and toppings, and great flavour. Mild sweetness to suit Asian palette. We were so happy with their mango cake!

Went in today Feb.14,2024 to buy 6 egg tarts and 6 piece of cakes. Told Server nicely" Please 6 egg tarts in one small box and 6 cakes another box, Thank you" Server replied loud, unpleasant and rude manner " How do you want me put them ......" Wow, don't know how to answer her and I just walked out. I lived in Mount Pleasant area for long time and shop Anna's cake on regular basis. This is not the only time i got bad service from them. Drove all the way to Pinetree Bakery on Hastings and pick up some egg tarts and cakes-great service and always smile servers. I will shop Pinetree Bakery from now.

8 inch mango cake. 70.00 and worth every penny

Ordered an 8 inch fresh mango cake for a Friday pickup. A few days before Friday, Anna's called me saying that there may not be enough ripe mangoes. So I changed it to fresh fruit Cake with mangoes on the outside. So on Friday, I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised that they found enough fresh mangoes to complete the cake. The cake was fresh, tasty, and perfect.

BEST EGG TARTS Anna's Cake House 227-9855 Austin Ave, Burnaby, BC * Unpopular opinion but I don't actually like egg tarts ... BUT, I LOVE THESE which is saying something. @annas_cake_house has a few locations (typically in malls which makes them a little inconspicuous) - they may look like a regular Asian Bakery but they have a whole glass area just for egg tarts. * The egg tarts are a little different than the typical ones that are sold at current Dim Sum restaurants. The main difference is the crust the custard is held in. The crust is a bit more solid like a cookie and shortbread hybrid but once bitten into is flaky, buttery, and crumbly goodness . The custard doesn't have an over cooked egg flavor but is jiggly, sweet, and having a light egg taste. The combination is so delicious and addicting. So addicting that we ate 4 in the first 15 minutes and had to buy another two boxes to bring home before we left for Seattle. Highly recommend picking up at least a dozen to share if you're an egg tart fan! #eatswitherinn

I came here after work and before they closed at 6pm. There is street parking in this neighbourhood. They don't have a designated parking lot. This branch is the biggest among other branches in terms of space and square footage. Most of the items were sold out when I arrived so late in the evening. However, some of the items had 20% off such as buns, egg tarts and cheese tarts because it was at the end of the day. They tried to sell off the rest of the items at a discounted price. Their customer service was okay. The servers at the counter/cashier were polite. I bought their egg tarts, cheese tarts and cakes. All of them were great! This bakery has been in the industry for a while. It's excellent that they can keep up the good quality and the pricing is reasonable. I tried their 6" and 8" cakes in the past. They were great. I personally thought that their quality was better than T&T's. The sweetness of their cakes or pastries in general are about right. I don't like the ones that are super sweet in western bakeries. The only downside is that the style and types of the buns and cakes always remain the same. I did not see any innovative or newer designs on their cakes and pastries. They all look the same to me in all these years.

Coconut butterfly bun ($1.75) - 4 stars. Tasty and soft! Wed afternoon 2019-08-28

Affordable and tasty bakery! No wait on a Wednesday around noon. We enjoyed the Coconut Butterfly Bun and Egg Tart, though the crust of the Egg Tart was a bit crumbly.

I work by one, this one is not usually my normal stop when buying cakes for the family birthdays! But with that said I had a call to get my Grandma's birthday cake on a Sunday and this was along the way. On a Sunday afternoon when I did not call for any bookings of a particular cake I came in and had a few selections of non-marked up cakes, the staff here was very friendly and pointed out all the cakes that were not bought up for what I needed, and asked me how many people were going to eat. During this time I also had to use the washroom, and this one does have one! So during my running with nature I had to get the key, and while rushing over I noticed many pictures with HK celebrities, usually while they were in town during their very own concerts, so Anna's is probably one of the bigger sponsors. I also noticed you can sit around here, order drinks, have pastries, not just your take an go location. This place is where the stuff is produced and trucked out to their other stores.. the main base as they say! My family is a huge fan of their stuff, especially their cakes for birthdays. I love the fact they always give you the choice, if you pre-order, to either go for regular cream, or the more flavourful fattening butter cream, and with multiple selections that have made Chinese parties famous with their cakes. If you are not in for the big celebration, but need to bring some small pastries, this is also considered the best of the Chinese bakeries in the Lower Mainland, stuff like flaky Napoleans, egg tarts (not my favorite here), assorted sweet and savoury buns, puddings and cheesecakes just to name a few. The place cost a bit more than the competition, but they also know they are better than the competition. I enjoyed this location, and if I ever actually wanted to sit around a place eating their pastries, I know I can do it right here!

I do like coming here. They have multiple location and usually I go to the Oakridge location instead. I usually order the baked pastry items. My favorite is the chicken pie. Its doesn't have a lot of sauce in it but there are lots of meat and vegetable. Very delicious. The top is flaky. The second item I like is their egg tart. I like the fact that the center custard is very generous (that is my favorite part). The other things I like here, are the cake. Every one of them is made on the day and is very fresh. This location has a large sitting area. You can order pastry and coffee and just sit and relax. As well, they have free wifi.

Fish ball was decent and surprisingly paired with this focaccia dough and gruyere cheese on top. I really liked this item. Egg tart was decent. Pastry dough was flaky and large, custard and sesame rice ball filling provided chewy mochi texture. I liked this item, too. They always offer very creative and unique flavor's combination. It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.
