[Review #172]…read more Wärdshuset i Hembygdsparken is located near the entrance to the historical park, Ängelholms Hembygdsparken. The restaurant serves a buffet-style brunch menu as well as à la carte pizza, & in the winter, a special Christmas brunch [julbrunch] is available between November 18 - December 17, 11:30 AM-3:00 PM. Brunch is served daily from 11:30 AM; the closing times are between 2:00 PM-4:00 PM, depending on the month. Special occasions - Pentecost weekend, Midsummer, & National Day - requires reservations. At 149 kronor for adults & 85 kronor for kids (between 1-9 years), WIH's brunch buffet is a steal! The brunch menu varies according to the season... some typical dishes are: herring, ham, smoked sausage, salami, cheese pie, cheese tray, pasta salad, potato salad, fish soup, mushroom soup, potato gratin, boiled potatoes, chicken, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs; desserts may consist of apple cakes & pancakes, with whipped cream, fruit jam, custard sauce as toppings; some favorite pizzas include Margherita, Hawaiian, Supreme, Vegetarian, & their Swedish-style ones such as Pescatore (shrimp), Palermo (salami), Chili (jalapeño & tabasco), etc. Julbrunch serves Christmas-inspired dishes such as Christmas bowl with homemade Scandinavian mustard, Christmas sugars, lamb, meatballs, mini sausages, cabbage, & baked potatoes. My LOs loved the Swedish pancakes & ate several, with lingonberry sauce & whipped cream. They flushed it down with saft [Swedish for soft drink/juice], in this case, it was lingonberry juice. My favs included the pannkakor [pancake] with the lingonberry sauce that I savored at the end of my meal. I enjoyed the decadent potato gratin, the simple boiled potatoes (they were perfectly cooked that my fork pierces each baby potato with ease), meatballs, & ostbricka [cheese pie]. Although the ostbricka is made of cheese, it has more of a custardy consistency over a warm, flaky crust. My husband preferred the herring, smoked sausage, salami, ostbricka, cheese tray, & boiled potatoes. The stations/chafers are well-maintained & monitored for quality control. The chefs put out just enough food so that there's minimal waste & rotated frequent enough that the food is constantly "fresh." For example, if the chafer was filled to the max & not eaten, the pancakes could get soggy, rubbery, etc. As luck with have it, both trips for the pancakes happen when they were freshening the chafer. =) After a fun day at Ängelholms Hembygdsparken, stop by Wärdshuset i Hembygdsparken, it will definitely satisfy your hunger. Smaklig måltid! [Bon appétit!]
