He's clearly a perfectionist when it comes to his work and really cares about getting everything exactly right. I had an emergency at lunch time, I have had a slow leak in one of my tires for the past few weeks and suddenly the tire pressure was way down. Luckily I Yelped "tire repair" and saw that Anno Cylinder World was near by. I always drove by this hidden gem without giving it much thought or knew it existed. The shop is a little further setback from the street. A very unassuming, cluttered shop turned out to be a savior. They attended to my tire in about 10 minutes and had it patched and ready to go in about 20 minutes. A patch job is listed on their service message at $60, but they charged me only for labor. Let me start by saying I recommend this family owned shop. I was looking for a trustworthy mechanic that could help me solve and fix a thumping sound under my car. My coworker mentioned this shop to me since they were working on her truck. I decided to check them out and I left my car with the expectations that it would probably be there for a few days. But that was not the case. They found the issue, fixed it and gave me my car back the same day. Turned out that my exhaust system was loose and hanging on for its dear life. I am so mad that I cannot remember the mechanics name that did my oil change today. I asked him twice and he even showed me his name tag on his shirt. It started with an S and I think ended with dish. OMG! I'm so sorry. Ali solved the most difficult problem I've had with my car. I had a clutch die completely on the day I was going to sell it (so I could put money down on a new car). Earlier that day, I had gotten an offer at Carmax. I was about to pull the trigger on it but wanted to research private selling a littler further. It was, however, a ticking time bomb: the clutch was about to give out. It had miraculously been functioning well enough to pass Carmax's inspection as merely "shifting issues." Within 3 hours of the appraisal... that's when my car died completely in Carson. We pushed it to a gas station and waited tense 2 hours for AAA to come tow us. I called all the closest mechanics and Anno was the only one who picked up the phone. They would wait for us to arrive. Ali inspected and it was no surprise: the clutch was done: $1100 (and that was already Ali's fair pricing - $2000 was what I was expecting). Meaning I was suddenly the owner of a car that was worth $100 to me, provided I got it back to Carmax within the week. Suddenly, he paused and looked at his wife "I'll tell you want... I will purchase your car for my son at the Carmax price. You can come back tomorrow if you change your mind - I am fixing the clutch regardless." He paid me cash. We did the title on the spot. HORRIBLE SERVICE, Last week I took my suv the be checked out as I was having a few issues with the airmatic suspension on my Mercedes one of the employees which a assumed is the owner son really sweet talk with his little knowledge on German vehicles and got me to change one of the air spring bags that "supposedly" was leaking air and quoted me on one price which I agreed and I provided them with the NEW air spring bag. Next day I when to pick up my vehicle they wanted to charge DOUBLE the the quote we agreed because "supposedly" they changed other parts without my approval or consent not only that my vehicle was worse than when I took it to this shop. The reason I give one star is they are good sweet talkers/liars to get you to leave your vehicle but believe me you are going to be real disappointed and feel stuck with them to get your vehicle fix with them. Both resulted in fantastic service where the Mechanic looked out for the customers interest.............well isn't that what every car repair business is supposed to do BUT rarely does!! My engine light in VW Passat was on for few days before I went to Anno Cylinder repair shop. Ali (the owner of the family run business) was recommended by friend from work as honest & reliable repair shop. He hooked the machine that gave the engine codes to the car and came back with no problems. Explanation was likely just cheap gas from Arco or similar gas station that might be "slightly poor quality". Suggested we use up the tank of gas & fill up from a slightly more expensive gas station. He reset the Engine check light & sure enough the problem did NOT repeat. Cost for this ...............nothing!! Ali stated "I didn't do any work so I can't charge you anything". Now this is why one should go to a family run business that will take care of minor items and NOT charge you as if it is a major problem. Second time I went to Ali, my car had been involved in a wreck needing major repairs to the engine & body. Ali again came to the rescue. Ali after thoroughly the car damage, he informed the car body and engine damage could be repaired BUT frame was slightly damaged AND in no circumstances should the car be repaired. This basically meant that the car was "totaled" & Ali's shop would get no money for any repairs from my insurance. Am I a customer for life..........you bet!! read more

First time i came here was when i had a check engine light on my sisters 98 camry, i went to this other shop to get it checked and they told me some story about it would cost $800 to get fixed but i wanted a 2nd opinion so i went here to Ali's shop, he checked it and to my surprise i only needed a new Gas tank cap! $15 dollars at toyota! He's honest! He won't lie to you! I saved a ton because i was ready to spend $800 at the other shop. Second time i came here was for my moms 01 lexus gs300! This place is the best! I have a 2005 Kia that had 125k miles on it when the engine light went on. Took it to the dealer who told me that the engine was internally damaged and that it needed a full engine replacement....then they tried to sell me a new car. I went to see Ali at Anno Cylinder World based on a friends recommendation. Turns out the car needed a new radiator and spark plugs, but otherwise was in great shape. Let me begin this review by stating I live in Santa Monica. Driving my car to Carson to Ali was WELL WORTH this trip! The car I am writing about is 2002 GMC Envoy (4WD). I have been going to the same mechanic who has worked on both of my vehicles for the past 5 years and they have always been upfront, honest and always took care of me. In fact, 6 of my other friends also use the same guy. Then, in December, I took my car in because it was making a serious rattling noise. My mechanic told me I had a broken right front diferrential (I am not a car a guy by any means and so I had to look up what that was). With this particular model the diferrential is connected to the another part of the engine (like I said, I'm sooo not a cad dude) and he told me that it would extensive man hours to fix it and it would cost me about $3,500.00. I paid $2,300.00 for the car so it was not worth it to me to fix it. He told me maybe I could find a friend who could do the labor for free and I could possibly get the part for about $1,000.00. Well, I certainly don't have any mechanic friends and if this is what he is telling me, this is definitely no bueno. He mentioned a place in the valley that I could possibly sell the car for parts or apply to the DMV car retirement program. So, I just sat on it until March. I ran into a friend who told me about Ali and that he had taken his truck to him and that he saved him a lot of money (he had been referred by one of his friends). He then told me that another one of our mutual friends was told that his car was unsalvageable and he ended up taking his car to Ali and he was able to fix it and the car is working and better than before. I thought, it wouldn't hurt to give him a call?? If he thought he could help me out then I would pray that I would even be able to drive my car all the way to Carson. My mechanic had told me that the the differential could completely crack at any moment and that I should not drive it much less on a freeway. So, I called him and told him I was referred by my two friends (who he recalled instantly). He asked me all the details of what I knew to be the problem. He said he would do some research and get back to me. Within an hour, he called me back. He told me that I was quoted way to high to fix the problem. He quoted me $1180.00 all in. I was shocked. So, I made arrangements to bring the car in the next morning. Praying that I would make it there (I did...sigh of relief). Super friendly, and greeted me warmly and took a brief look at the car (I was about 30 minutes late so he had another car already being worked on) and asked if I could leave the car for him to look at later. Luckily, I had a friend meeting me there to take me back home, so I agreed. By about 4pm, I gave him a call and he apologized that he hadn't gotten a chance to get to it, but he would call me first thing the next day. However, at 8pm that night, he called and had an update. I learned that he lives right next door to the shop. He's dedicated. Amazingly, he said he could fix the problem. And that it was the transmission axle bearing. I told him that he could keep the car as long as he needed to fix it (I was just so happy that I will have my car back) and that he could take his time. He had to special order the parts from GMC and that took a few days. I needed an oil change and new brakes so, I thought why not get it all done as I never thought I would be able to get my car running again. While he was working on the car, he would send me pictures of what he was doing and the parts that were being worked on. Amazing. If you're still reading...here's the bottom line, a week later, I had new brakes, oil change, original problem handled and all under $1,600.00. I paid cash so he had knocked off some of the cost. He showed me all of the parts that were taken out and gave me a print out and walked me through everything he did. He even called me a week later to make sure everything was working well. I've NEVER had that happen before. Ali is MY NEW MECHANIC. I have already referred him to another buddy of mine. This guy is a not just a miracle worker, but saved my life. I didn't know what I was going to do without this car as I use it for work. read more
