He brought us some complementary biscuit beignets with the honey marmalade. They were very good. A little more dense than a traditional beignet but still soft and fluffy. Brunch, without a doubt, is my favorite meal of the day and at Another Broken Egg Cafe they truly deliver great flavors and wonderful service. As a self proclaimed brunch conneiseur-groupie I tend to know my way around several of Indy's brunch "hot spots" and ever since my first visit I was charmed! Presentation, friendly service, and even adorable monogrammed hot chocolate mugs. The space is quaint and cute with many tables and some booths, and a bar tucked into the back; bright and very open with lots of windows and a door leading back to their outdoor patio. The decor looks very "a la le peep" (can I say that?) but with definitely more personality and their food is spot on. The menu selections are pretty consistent but packed with flavors. I tend to not deviate from the traditional Belgian waffle and I've had their amazing Cinnamon Roll french toast but nothing compares to their huevos rancheros. I was blown away by the flavors in this dish last time I stopped in. I love the prompt, warm, courteous service, the tiny monogrammed mugs, and truly their amazing food is the reason weekend lines are out the door. My first time here i thought it was nice for them to ask if this was your first visit i was in for a surprise i got 4 fried biscuits of some sort with powdered sugar and a citrus sort of jelly...i later found out the biscuits were called benays of some sort, they were pretty tasty. I was surprised they had more to offer than the normal just orange juice and champagne mimosas they had apple, raspberry and a couple more, i had the apple which was delicious. After looking over the many selections the waitress recommended shrimp and grits which my friend got and i had the Belgium waffles that had caramelized pecans and crispy bacon pieces, it came with 2 eggs and a meat selection which i had 2 strips of nice crispy bacon. I enjoyed my meal and took the other half home for breakfast the next day. I didnt taste my friends shrimp and grits which also had sausages in it, it had a very good taste but was a bit too spicy for me. AMAZING FOOD!! I ate at Another Broken Egg Cafe in Michigan years ago and I remember it being one of the best breakfasts I'd ever eaten. I never made the connection that we had one in Indianapolis until I ate here the other day. I'm over the moon to have one so close. The food here is top notch! Great Spot for Breakfast A couple years ago some friends and I discovered this little spot and fell in love. We used to have monthly brunches on Saturdays just to catch up with life. The restaurant is ALWAYS busy on Saturdays so one of the servers recommended using the No Wait app for our next visit and we've used it ever since. It makes waiting in line so much easier. All the servers are very nice and make sure to check on their tables even during the big rush. For appetizers go with the biscuit beignets. Sooo good especially with the dipping sauce. It's an sweet orange-y taste but it's very good. Don't eat to many because you will be full half way through your regular meal. Finally tried Another Broken Egg! Yay. My friend recommended it to me for my brunch with my girls and I am so glad that he did. When I walked in, I asked the staff if we could sit outside. At first he was hesitant and said the patio was closed.. it was a Wednesday at 1oclock.. I was bummed. Then he must have read my non verbals and said "let me check with the manager".. the manager was SOO accommodating and let us sit outside. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to order. My wife and I went here the morning after our wedding several months ago, and we didn't really love it. One of their specialties seemed to be seafood omelettes and the like. My wife loves seafood and breakfast, so it seemed like a good choice. She got some sort of lobster omelette, and she didn't dislike it, but didn't think it was anything phenomenal either. I'm not a huge seafood guy (not me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIxIfZdqr8A), but every once in a while I enjoy it, and again, it was what they were supposed to do well. I got an omelette with crab. It tasted like straight fish. I mean there was no flavor of eggs, seasoning, onions, peppers, or anything else that was supposed to be in it. It came with sour cream, and I basically coated the omelette with the sour cream to make it palatable, so I wouldn't be starving when we left. I really don't think this is probably a one-star restaurant, but I could hardly choke down my food. I ended up taking about half of it as leftovers when I couldn't get through anymore, and ended up throwing it away without eating anymore. This isn't necessary a one-star-I'd-never-come-back kind of review, but I wouldn't be eager to revisit, and I would never get any of their seafood brunch dishes again. read more

For the price point, the food and service left a lot to be desired. Food and drinks: I ordered the crab cake benedict. The crab cakes themselves had an acceptable crab/filling ratio, but were under seasoned. The hollandaise also did nothing for the overall flavor profile. My friend actually liked her dish - shrimp and grits - so I asked for a side of the sauce used for that and it did help. My side of grits were ok, but a bit runny for my liking. We also ordered bellinis. They came out fast, but had too much purée and were overly sweet. Service: Our order was taken pretty much immediately but that the only time our server was attentive. We literally had to ask another server to get our server on three separate occasions (the other servers were INCREDIBLY attentive). She did however came back immediately for the bill and I also noticed that when we left she was already clearing the table even though there was no line/no one waiting. When they weren't brought out before our entrees, they brought us a piping hot whole fresh order (8 total when the free offering is usually about 4) AND a coupon for another free order on our next visit! I had a very good spiked coffee drink and ordered the Creole Omelette. If you're a grits person, they have a specialty order that's loaded called City Grits. To be honest, it was kind of a forgettable breakfast experience. There was nothing wrong with the food or the service, but I would not go there again. There seem to be no shortage of breakfast and brunch places around Indy and Carmel, thankfully. Our table got the Popeye's Favorite (scrambled eggs, spinach, onions, bacon), the Classic Biscuits & Gravy, and the kids pancakes with bacon. Everything tasted fine, except the bacon tasted off, which is weird because ... bacon. The Popeye's Favorite was really salty, and yet lacked flavor, somehow. I did really enjoy the coffee, though. I take my coffee black, so the coffee really needs to be able to hold up on its own. We didn't have to wait at all when we visited on a Saturday at 9 a.m. By the time we left, though, there was a long wait. Took my whole family to breakfast here the other day before my parents returned to Texas. This place is awesome. A very Southern feel to the breakfast menu. Everything looked delicious, so it was impossible to know what to try. I ended up going with the Smoked Salmon Benedict which had a poached egg with hollandaise on top of a bagel. The grits were unreal as well, loaded with smoked gouda, bacon, tomato, and green onion. My wife and dad had they Daystarter which they both loved and my mom had the Bacquezo Omelette, which she loved with cream cheese in it. Now if you need a great brunch, breakfast, or lunch spot, this is the place for you. I highly recommend you get on the waitlist before you get here. All of the spots can get busy and end up waiting up to an hour. I did get on the waitlist and thank god I did. Went with some family and since it was a first time we were able to get the breakfast beignets for free. They were soooo good. Makes you wanna travel to Louisiana to get some. We had good service and didn't have to wait long for our food. I myself had the chicken and waffles. It comes with a sauce and I would personally tell them to put it on the side. I really wanted a breakfast sandwich traditional bacon egg & cheese on an English muffin. I didn't want anything that was McMuffin . So I went in and asked for just that it wasn't on the menu and they didn't hesitate to create exactly what I wanted. It looks like I found another place for breakfast and brunch close by. My coworker and I had breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe to catch up and talk about work. I had the Monterey Jack omelet and my co-worker had the eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was too heavy for my coworker, so she had to send her entree back. The server was very nice and accommodating and had the cook take off the hollandaise sauce and come back with a fresh dish and a substitute sauce that my coworker liked very much. My entrée was fabulous and very fresh!! I was very impressed with the coffee because it is very difficult to find a breakfast place with great coffee!! It was so good that I did not need to put cream and sugar in the coffee to make it taste better. That is saying something about this establishment! If you do not like anything else about Another Broken Egg Cafe, you should come for the coffee! They also sell their coffee mugs which are very nice and unique. I suggested this place to a friend and got on their website ahead of time to check out dine-in issues related to COVID. But because their site isn't particularly mobile friendly (the screen gets dark and jumps around a lot), I kind of gave up too soon. What I didn't see is that they prefer call-ahead reservations in an effort to keep the restaurant's waiting room clear. They ask that you wait outside and then they give call-backs for seating. That's all fine and good when this policy went into effect last May, but it was in the 20's when we were there last weekend. I walked in, gave my name for the first time and was asked to wait in my car. My car? That was a little off-putting. Luckily my friend arrived within 2 minutes and we decided to skirt the system by grabbing coffees at the bar. Simple enough, right? But there's no sitting or even standing at the bar currently. Uggh. I hadn't brunched in Indy since we could do so outside and just wanted to relax. Oh how the two of us health workers wished we could just flash our vaccination cards carried in our purses. With their ceramic-mugged coffees in hand as leverage, we found a spot with two chairs near the waiting area and hoped we wouldn't get asked to leave. They do as good as any place I've seen maintaining social distancing, keeping every other table or so free. Between that and the tables that were reserved for folks who had yet to answer/arrive from their call-backs, it seemed like they were always well under 50% capacity at any one time. I had a specialty egg dish, the lobster and Brie omelette. The lobster and Brie sauce is layered on top with cream cheese filling the actual inside of the omelette. That's a bit over-the-top rich, and I might have ordered something else had I read the menu thoroughly. But we were there to catch up not scour the menu and though busy gabbing, we weren't rushed by our server. She noticed I mentioned a desire to be gluten free when I ordered grits as my side, so she took the liberty of adding GF toast instead of the standard English muffin. That was appreciated. We asked for something just about every time she checked on us, and she always met it with a smile. I was debating between chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits and Brandon recommended the shrimp and grits. They were different but really good. My friend ordered breakfast tacos and she said they were amazing... they came with a watermelon salsa that she was very skeptical of but was pleasantly surprised by.
