Another Broken Egg is a chain restaurant and it definitely feels that way. I've always likened it to be better than IHOP or Denny's. The decorations are similar to any chain breakfast place you've ever been to. The service was subpar. Our hostesses was confused about where to seat us and it was awkward to stand around as they tried to figure it out. We ended up being right behind the hostess stand. Our server wasn't memorable nor personable. We ordered the chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy. The chicken and waffles were just waffles and chicken tenders sitting on top. Nothing else special about it. It looked really plain and almost like a joke. It should come with a side of fruit or eggs to offset how plain it looked. The biscuits and gravy were also subpar. The eggs were cooked perfectly though, with a runny yolk! Overall, just a mediocre experience for the amount of money you pay. I think I'd rather go to Denny's next time. read more

After a pretty rough first experience at ABE I was kindly offered the opportunity to come back and try out some other menu options on the house. This review is based on my second visit and I have to say it went much better than the first. Instead of a table like last time we opted for the bar and it was much nicer than sitting in the middle of their crowded dining room. The bartender/server was extremely friendly and accommodating. We ordered some alcoholic beverages which were tasty. My friend enjoyed a champagne cocktail and I had a flavored rum lemonade of sorts which was VERY sweet but tasted fine. They seemed to be of good value at around $7-$8 each. My friend ordered the lobster omelet dish and cleaned the plate. Swore it was one of the best breakfasts she'd had in a while. I was happy for her but unfortunately there were virtually no vegan options on the menu. I had to go with a plain bowl of oats and a side of fresh fruit, which was fine, but I was hoping for something with a little more substance that morning. The food arrived in decent time and was very hot and fresh. All in all I would say I had a much better second experience and ABE and I would be likely to return if they added some vegan options to their menu. Who doesn't love a great brunch place?! I loved my experience at Another Broken Egg, but I didn't "love love" it like I wanted to. Let's start with the waitlist: we joined the waitlist for a patio table and were given a time of 9:40 to be there. So we arrived at 9:35, checked in at the hostess stand, and stood outside to wait (we had the dingo with us). We finally got seated around 10:10 after staring at empty patio tables for half an hour. It really was uphill from there, though. Once seated, our server brought our pup water without us even having to ask and didn't complain when she licked her shoes. That's character. The patio area was clean, spacious, and had huge umbrellas to shade us from that October "still summer" sun. As for the food: I kind of played myself with my choice. I got the Floridian Omelette with garlic crab meat on top expecting to be a little less "crabby". My crab lover friends: this one's definitely for you. Luckily I added a peach cobbler pancake which was delicious and filling enough on its own. My husband got the Bacquezo Omelette with bacon and chorizo. His was very good and a little spicy which he enjoyed. Added bonus that both of the omelettes were filled with cream cheese. I don't believe cracking another egg, if you haven't cracked the first egg correctly. At first glance, Another Broken Egg Cafe in Tapestry Park is a trendy scene for all walks of life. Before the pandemic, the wait list would wrap around the building with excitement. During the pandemic, the hype is still well known throughout the Jacksonville community. Word of advice, use the yelp app to join the waitlist before you check-in with the host/hostess and it will save you time for a table. Luckily, I joined the waitlist on the Yelp app while I was waiting for a table. Yelp displayed I was 7th in line with a wait time between 20 - 25 minutes. Kudos to the host staff because I didn't have to wait the quoted time, instead I was seated within 5 minutes! The host guided me to my table outside and my server Maddie came over and welcomed my presence with a kind hello. Maddie asked if it was my first time in the restaurant, I quickly answered yes. At first glance with the menu, I decided to order a cup of coffee and a water allowing me more time to decide. Fun fact about the coffee, the coffee beans are from El Salvador, and grown using the volcanic ash around the volcano as fertile soil. Options on the menu bring me back to my culture experience in New Orleans. If you enjoy southern food with cajun history, I highly recommended tasting Another Broken Egg Cafe. When Maddie came back with my coffee and water, I decided to order the Mardi Gras Omelet with Biscuit Beignets on the side. Maddie recommended I get the banana fosters sauce with the biscuits. I believe I tasted heaven in my mouth with a culture twist at the end of tongue. As I finished my delicious meal, the manager came by to check on the overall experience, and I replied "fantastic". He also suggested trying the shrimp and grits because it has a kick at the end, if you enjoy spicy food. I think there is an argument with yourself "Am I trying hard enough?" and "Am I doing my best?". Food may be the answer for many unknown questions. This place is AMAZING!! The key to this place is downloading the Nowait app and getting in the digital queue before showing up as the wait can be really long. On a Sunday morning around 9AM we did the Nowait thing, got there about 5 minutes before it said to be there, were told another 30 minutes, and were seating in about 20. I think overall they have a hard time judging wait times here for whatever reason, but to us the food it worth the inconvenience. We started with the coffee and our waitress was great!! She brought out a bunch of those individual creamers with different flavors and my wife asked for a few more vanilla ones as that's what she likes and a few seconds later a whole handful was in front of her. The best think about this is when my wife asked for a to-go coffee at the end of our meal, the waitress brought out a few more as she saw my wife had already used most of them. A+ service!! The food is also to die for. I got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and holy moly was this good! I got scrambled eggs with this and they were super light and fluffy. My wife got an Omelette with bacon and cheese and it was great. She got some potatoes with it and those things were delicious!! Seriously can't say enough good things about the the food here. I chose the breakfast potatoes, they were crispy on the outside and soft in the center, perfect! The omelette was perfectly filled with sausage, bacon, mushroom, and onion and topped with cheddar cheese, it was delicious! The banks fosters pancake was off the charts and very decadent! I've been on the fence about Another Broken Egg for a few weeks now. One is because I'm not really a breakfast type of lady, and two is because of a few previous reviews. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't all that bad either. For $43 which includes a $7 tip I would have rather went to a mom and pop diner somewhere. I will say that the fried green tomatoes were really good, I enjoyed the crab cake with it as well and the feta... Perfectly complimented. As far as my Lobster and Brioche omelette, I wasn't impressed. I was expecting way more of the white sauce that a couple reviewers raved about but my omelette was more on the dry side. My waitress was really sweet, and very familiar with the menu... she even charged my phone for ten minutes because I told her I had to have some pictures of the food. I waited 10 minutes after I put my food in to go boxes just to get the check. The restaurant had a good number of people, but they also have a lot of staff. My goodness this place could not have been any better. If you're a first timer they bring you free biscuit beignets that are DELICIOUS. Super crunchy and covered in powdered sugar on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. Their drinks are to die for. I had their seasonal mimosa (lemon blueberry) that was delicious but the peach Bellini was definitely my favorite and is on their regular menu. For brunch I ate the southern eggs Benedict, another seasonal item, and it was by far the best I've ever had. I kept seeing the "coming soon" signs while driving by this place and wondering when it would open. It wasn't until I saw on Yelp this week that they were open for business that I knew I had to try it. My mother and I went on a Saturday morning on a whim. The drink variety was expansive than most brunch chains. We ordered an apple juice and a mimosa to start. I like that the mimosa came with a strawberry, like it should. On the appetizer/starters section, the blackberry grits got my attention so I ordered that. My mother ordered a blueberry muffin. For our entrees, I got the Lobster Brie Omelet and mom ordered the Traditional. It took awhile for the food to come out since we got there around lunchtime and the servers were running around like crazy. The blackberry grits were good. I guess I was expecting stone-ground grits but these tasted like your regular run-of-the-mill kind. That's fine. Adding blackberries to them were delicious. Mom's blueberry muffin was huge! When she cut it in half, it look good gobs delish. It was all fluffy and moist. Mom enjoyed it. Our entrees came out and everything looked good. I was in lobster and Brie heaven. The omelette had shredded lobster on top with sliced Brie underneath and to my surprise, creamy cream cheese inside. This was foodgasmic! I also got a side of Mediterranean potatoes cooked in olive oil and sprinkled with feta cheese and other items I don't recall. My mother got The Traditional: scrambled eggs, substitution of turkey sausage, wheat toast, and potatoes. She stated, "It's good. I think I just like simple stuff." We were warmly greeted by the bartender/server Dominique. She is friendly, funny and was quick to provide anything we needed...sometimes before we knew we needed it. She started us off with a Mimosa; and by mimosa I mean a pitcher of them...yes, it was a wonderful start to casual Sunday. I saw on Yelp that this place has recently opened. So this past weekend, I dragged hubby and my sister to give it a try. I figure because it's new, we will have to be prepared to wait in line. Sure enough, when we got there around 9:30 on Saturday, there was already a line. However, the wait was not nearly as long as I expected. We just figure first available and got a table inside. The inside was actually quite small, but they do have a pretty decent size outdoor seating. Being new, it was clean and have a freshness to everything. We enjoyed their coffee mug design with their cute logo and shape. I opted for their basic French Toast with added scrambled eggs and bacon. My sister ordered the Traditional with scrambled eggs, bacon and upgraded to city grits. Hubby ordered also the Traditional with grilled andouille sausage, poached eggs, and toast. Everything was pretty tasty. The French Toast was no fluff, just nicely done with powdered sugar, the way I like it. The grits my sister ordered was very tasty It may not be the best grits I've ever had, but nice touch on the extra add-ins like bacon bits, tomatoes, etc... My husband also enjoyed his meal. His poached eggs were just ever-so-slightly under cooked, but otherwise, everything was good. The service was friendly, but slow. But I think that is due to a place being new, still got a few kinks to work out. Overall, for a brand new place, it was quite good. We walked here a couple Saturdays ago from Hotel Indigo to get some breakfast before heading to Gainesville. We were there pretty early - 7:30ish maybe?, but there were only about 2 other tables filled at the time, so they were not busy at all! My husband got one of the egg scrambles (I believe a southwestern one), with salsa, guac, etc. and potatoes. It had great flavor! The potatoes were awesome too, I couldn't stop stealing them! I had the cinnamon roll for my breakfast, it was large and I could not finish it. It could have been a little warmer, but it had great overall cinnamon sugary taste with plenty of icing, who doesn't love icing!? It's like home - lots of earth tones and warm lighting. It's like you went over to someone's house and had brunch. There is also a generous outside seating area which is heated for those colder days - ideal for larger parties. I had a waffle, eggs, and bacon combo. The waffle was cooked to perfection, and my over medium eggs - while a little overdone were great too. The bacon here came out a little soggy like it was recently microwaved after it came out of the oven but this was an all around great breakfast.
