We communicated that with them and had rescheduled for August, which was additionally shut down due to government restrictions. We then planned to re-book for May 2021, which after going back-and-forth multiple times with dates ended up getting switched to a different DJ group within the organization, which was fine. We were then told by our venue, Riverview Gardens, that they were no longer hosting weddings, but because we had a contract, they would host ours. We met with them in person and ultimately decided that they were doing it more out of obligation, and we didn't feel comfortable spending a large amount of money to host a wedding with a venue that wasn't excited about us hosting our wedding there. We had gotten married in August 2020 in a small ceremony that followed Covid restrictions and had planned on doing our big wedding as planned in May 2021. At this point, it was such a drawn out process and I wasn't excited about planning a wedding for the fourth time and starting the venue search again. I received a full deposit refund from Riverview Gardens and reached out to Yo DJ about getting a refund on our deposit of $875 via email. I had reached out multiple times and never received a response to the DJ's assigned to our event as well as the general email. This has been going on for multiple years and to be honest I probably should've been more on top of it, but it's just a constant reminder that I didn't get my dream wedding and still have my original wedding dress hanging in my closet unworn as well as all of our decor in my basement that was unused, so it wasn't necessarily at the top of my mind. After an email stating I would pursue legal action, I finally got a response from Cory who informed me that they were not willing to work with me on issuing that refund but instead they would work with me if I wanted to have them host a different event. Which makes no sense because we're not having a big wedding so I'm not sure what I would even use them for. Overall, very disappointed with the entire interaction and now I am out $875. I have two follow up emails out to Cory from his response, both of which have gone without a response.

We had many different ages and genres for our music, and even so we had people on the dance floor all night. A special moment for us was when Dan handed my husband a microphone and then he serenaded me with "Lucky" by Britney Spears. All of this and our pre-wedding meeting with Dan really helped us figure out a timeline, flow, and feel for the wedding and made it streamlined the day of (or if there were hitches I didn't hear about them!). I used CDJ, hired through Fortune Talent, for my wedding DJ. I saw the DJ (Scott Stiles) at a…read morefriends wedding a year prior, and though he did a great job, so I knew who I wanted to use for my wedding! Scott knocked it out of the park. Very responsive to my requests the day of. Also, Fortune Talent was great to work with - very prompt in responding to emails (thank you Rich Orde). I had a lot of strange music requests, and was very particular in timing, and Rich assured me it would all be handled perfectly. It was, with the exception of my music starting at 3:40 instead of 3:30 prior to the ceremony. I believe this was a problem caused by my coordinator, however. As an aside, Fortune Talent also has an uplighting person - Chad Hendricks. Although I met with him, he didn't have the experience to accomplish the look we were going for, and didn't respond to emails. We ended up using someone else for the uplighting service as a result.

If you're looking for a DJ for your wedding, PICK SOMEONE ELSE! My contract with AJay's had them…read moreproviding the sound for my ceremony and I had double-checked to make sure that they had microphones that we could use. Ajay's assured me that they had microphones, however, the microphones that they had us use were terrible. Right away in my ceremony, the microphone kept going in and out as my officiant was speaking, and this continued throughout the whole ceremony. I was hoping that maybe it didn't sound that bad to my guests, but after the ceremony I asked a few people and the sound was terrible everywhere. The microphone problems continued into the speeches during dinner. They kept crackling and getting super staticky and then finally, when we were on our fourth and final speaker, the DJ finally did swap our mic... but it didn't help. This was super frustrating to me because I had asked AJay's if they had microphones and I assumed (incorrectly) that they would work well. The next problem we ran into was during our grand march. The DJs did not ask for a list of the bridal party to announce them as they walked in, but I had created this list for them WITH the phonetic pronunciation of several of their names. When the DJ came to talk with me just before we started, all he wanted to check was to make sure we were in the same order that I provided; he never asked for clarification on anyone's names, so I assumed he was ready to go. Then as he was calling out names, he completely BUTCHERED one of my friend's names. For a company that promotes the idea that the DJs all have been doing this for a very long time and as their full time jobs... this seemed like a rookie mistake. The awkwardness continued throughout the evening. The DJ never said anything over the mics after the grand march except to announce the first dance and then the bouquet toss. There was no trying to hype anyone up and nothing to really get people to come to the dance floor... again, this was disappointing. The songs that the DJ chose to play were also not that great to dance to. He did play some of the artists I requested (but not all of them!) and most of the songs he played were throwbacks to the 90s and early 2000s. These are great songs for everyone to sing along with... but very hard to dance to. Several of my guests did mention this too, saying, "It's just hard to dance to these, I feel like I'm in a constant state of waiting for a good dance song to come along," but the good dance songs were few and far between. Another thing that my DJ did that I felt like was super unprofessional was to come and let my husband and I know in the middle of our event that we still owed them money (by the way, they only take cash or money orders for your second half of your payment so you cannot pay them in advance). To be asked in front of guests was incredibly rude and very unprofessional in my opinion. Our final issue on our wedding day was that the DJ started cleaning up prior to our contracted time. Our dance floor was never packed and in fact, by about 11 almost no one was dancing at all. One of my guests even told me that they thought the DJ was "purposefully playing the songs he was as a way to tell people that the event was ending and to get out." As a result of that, even though I had a contract with them to play until midnight, the DJ started cleaning up just before 11:30!! Take my advice, don't pick AJay's for your event. You'll thank yourself later.

I remember calling around to DJ's and feeling like just another wedding and them seeing dollar…read moresigns. From the first moment I talked to Joe at Sound Dimension's DJ, he was genuine and cared. And it wasn't about dollar signs. He walked me through scenarios and how music typically works at weddings and what him and his team does. Not once did he mention anything out getting our business. That to me spoke volumes of the business he runs and the quality and care him and his team put into their events. I was planning our wedding from 3,000 miles away and Joe made it the smoothest transition possible. Every detail was thought out and planned, even if something were to go wrong - there was a plan for that too! I had no worries at all and on the day of it couldn't have gone more perfect. From the aisle music, to the quiz about us to release tables, to keeping the dance floor hopping all night, they did not skip a beat. And yes, pun intended. As if I couldn't have thought more highly of them, we received a thank you card of a photo of us during our first dance with a heartfelt handwritten note on the inside. So personable and epically genuine. Book them!! You will not be disappointed!!
