I had the most amazing night here. We went for a friend's birthday celebrations and there were 21…read moreof us in the party. They do a set menu (Mezze or King Mezze) that they charge £16/£20 per head for but you don't have to have it and I decided to choose my own starter and main course. I had the Garlic Mushrooms which were delicious. For £3.80 you get a huge plateful as well as a basket of bread. I could have easily eaten this for my main course. There are a great choice of mains and I chose the Mixed Souvlaki (Lamb and Pork). Two large kebabs on a bed of Rice served with Pitta bread. There was a bit of a mix up when the main dishes were served up and someone else got my meal. The staff couldn't have been more apologetic. I was prepared to wait as the Mushroom dish had been huge and I wasn't going to starve. The staff kept coming to apologise and I was even given a complimentary beer while I waited. We also had the Greek salad which was delicious. I loved the feta cheese and Olives. The entertainment on offer is second to none. Unfortunately no plate smashing but some fabulous Greek dancing and Belly dancing from the female waitress. The atmosphere is authentic and the music really puts you in mind of being in Greece. I wouldn't go there regularly but for a special occasion it is the best place to go and I would highly recommend it. Video link: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xYgbMvAFDeo

As said it's small so make sure you book, but be warned it could be a day before they back to you to confirm your booking! But this is just in fitting with the relaxed slightly quirky nature of the place. In terms of surroundings it reminds me a students bedroom with a slightly ethnic feel, and in fitting with this the toilets are freezing in winter! Food wise it's 'proper veggie', all cooked in front of you in the small kitchen in the same room as you eat. The meals are always plentiful, and have always left me happy. The service is always very Malcolm, who is the industrious owner/ chef who zips around the kitchen keeping the operation rolling. Whilst I've always felt the place could descend into chaos at any moment it's clearly all mapped out in Malcolm's head and the food always ends up in front of you. You take your own alcohol, and if you forget there is an off license in the same block of shops where cafe nomad is. If you like chain eateries, must have meat or things to be' just so', then this is not the place for you, but if that's not you then book yourself a table, grab some booze and I'm pretty sure you will have a great night!

The food is delicious, and portions are fairly generous, the dishes are prepared to order, so you know that your food is fresh. It may look a bit basic and unfancy on the outside but go inside and try out the good food.
