The blonde lady bartender was kind of cold when I asked for a table saying "I'll check" and nothing more. The server rolled his eyes at me when I ordered still water. Not welcoming. Pretty does not a nice boy make. Fast service though. The space was nice, dimly lit. Busy for Tuesday for good reason. Food came out quickly. The man, I assume the manager who handled my bill was very kind and thanked me for coming in. I liked it better than Rodeo, a competing steakhouse nearby. (Although the steak was just as good as rodeo- the fries at rodeo didn't stand a chance to the delicious scalloped frites at Sopranos. ) reasonable pricing for the quality. If some of the staff was even mildly friendlier it would be 5 stars all the way, that was the only real negative. I would go again and probably will!

As a result, I was expecting them to start rushing us through our meal, but it wasn't like that at all. They did promptly take our order, but after that they mostly left us to enjoy our meal. I think they have camera monitors behind the counter, which is great because then they don't clog up the walkways (the restaurant is pretty cramped), but also a little unfortunate because we ended up waiting on them to give us the check. I thought the steaks were decent, but I've definitely had better. I love that you can order a combination so you can try all the steak as well as lamb if you wanted. I was a little confused by the flags that came with our steak - one had the dollar sign and the other had a gun. Wait, am I still in the Netherlands? My favorite part of the meal was actually the fries. This place has the best fries hands down. If you want "can't miss" steak in the Netherlands, then I recommend Restaurant Wielinga in Leiden. They had the most mouth watering steak I've ever had!

Wow! Really a great evening out. Fantastic food!…read moreWe choose for the surprise dinner of 5 courses and in all honesty, every course was a pleasant surprise of true great explosions of flavors! We had a wine & dine option and every wine fitted the courses great. For one of the courses they were serving Chardonnay, and as I mentioned to the waiter that I am not a big fan of Chardonnay he first let me taste it, and after my "this is not really my kind of wine" he brought me a great alternative for that course in a Viognier. That is understanding service and acting on it. Since December they have a Michelin star, and they earn it big time. In contrary to other "star" restaurants where I have been before, they are relaxed and not too formal, they have exceptional variety (and knowledge of) the wine menu. And sure, they are not the cheapest to go to, but for the quality, variety and wines I feel they are really well priced! Would definitely recommend this place!

My review is based on the new Cedofeita location of Zarzo…read more I was greeted by Carlos, then his wife and son, the Chef. The front of the location is the bar which leads to the dining room, and even further to the terrace. Very welcoming appearance. Two of our party ordered the pork stew type dish with beans and tortillas. I ordered 3 beef and cheese tacos. The guacamole and chips were delicious, but a meager portion of chips served. The 3 salsas served with the chips were delicious but I missed the "pico de gallo" of my stateside years. Corn tortillas were homemade and the tacos were made with quality beef, seasoned and grilled well. Perfect street tacos! My friend's pork stew was good and seemed authentic to a region in Mexico. As a flan fan, I wanted to order but the restaurant became busy and the wife was trying to cover all the tables. I will order at my next visit because I am certainly coming back. The family story is charming as are each of the individuals. They put their heart into the food served. They are certainly a wonderful addition to the Cedofeita neighborhood. Please forgive my picture which I forgot to take until half done with my tacos! 8/10 Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Ambiance

The last time we tried to eat here we were told they were fully booked and this time we saw several people turned away. This time around with a reservation, we were excited to eat here but the food felt very short of our expectations. The food was ok, there were some hits and lots of misses. Food: 3/5 We had the octopus stew and kibbeh as appetizers. The octopus was perfectly cooked, not rubbery or chewy, it was nice and tender - off to a good start! But it was bland, there was absolutely no flavor. The kibbeh was dry though the filling had good flavors and lots of potential. My husband had the lamb stew and it was just ok. If it wasn't for my main course, I would have scored this place 2 stars. I had the duck confit and it was cooked perfectly, meat was almost falling off the bone, tons of flavor, crispy skin. The roasted potatoes were delicious and the little salad balanced the fattiness. There was only 1 standout dish from 4, and with a menu that isn't very big, it seems that the odds are against you. Service: 2/5 Not much to say, standard Dutch service - slow, awkward. They also didn't really seem to know what they were doing. A large group of 15 walked in, they had reserved, and the waitstaff became extremely flustered - didn't you know they were coming? Atmosphere: 3/5 It is a very cool location and they have a beautiful table with various appetizers they assemble for your tasting platter. There is even a old CRT monitor converted into a flower pot. What I didn't like is that people would come in and just leave the door open. It is cold outside guys! The waitstaff just ignored it, so if you do not want to freeze you will have to get up and close the door each time some muppet does not close the door. Value: 2/5 At 25 euros/person for an appetizer and a main, it seemed reasonable but the portions are tiny and that didn't include drinks. We were quite hungry afterwards... I would recommend making a reservation, but with food like this, don't even bother coming. I'm not sure why it is so packed!
