Bravo, Arvada!!! Brought our just-walking toddler for her first splash pad experience and we…read morestarted off with a bang. Came on an early Friday afternoon so it was busy but not overwhelmingly so. Lots of age ranges (ours was the littlest but the big kids were very respectful) and so many fun water features that cater to a wide array of ages and comfort levels. Very clean and well cared for with plenty of shady picnic tables adjacent to the splash pad. Once we finished getting soaked (parents who need to be near their little one, note you will absolutely get drenched) we tried off in the playground which was also top notch. Lots of cool features and again, clean and cared for. When we needed a break from the sunny swings, there were more shaded picnic tables next to a huge grassy field. The charcoal grills are also huge. You could spend a whole day here, easy. I can't wait to come back for more fun memories!

Very bike-able going through on the nearby trail and all the sidewalks are wide for strollers, dogs, walking groups, and people biking or skating along. Really enjoy the design and open layout of this park. I've seen a few birthday parties hosted at the nearby tables adjacent to the playground. Still even on the weekends the park never seems to be over crowded. Even in the heat of summer the water features next to the playground are in use but not swarmed. Lots of nice businesses nearby you can walk to so a great location all around. Certainly one of the premier parks in the local area.

Our hike was extra special because it was led by Maria the Park Ranger. Maria's knowledge and passion for Chautauqua was incredible to witness. You can tell these mountains mean so much to her! We learned about the landscape, wildlife, Natives, and so much more. Our hike was simple but we saw so much along the way. The views of the flatirons are hard to beat. The path was busy but it was a beautiful saturday morning and it still didn't feel overly crowded. We saw lots of doggies, runners, and families and friends meeting for a morning hike to kick off their weekend. It was pure magic. I hope I get to come back one day!!

I'm a tourist and the like and I enjoyed it! We lucked into parking on a beautiful, busy Saturday morning. They have very nice restrooms at the Ranger station, and more overflow port a potties around if needed too. The nearby trail is highly accessible and it doesn't take long for some views to pay off. It's a decently steep incline, but nothing crazy at all. Once you're into the trees the shade helps against the thin air and the sun, and it's so quiet and serene. No mosquitoes like I'm used to back home. Loved all the birds (shoutout magpies) and also seeing everyones' dogs.

This park has a baseball field, full basketball court, a sand volleyball court, two tennis courts,…read moreand a fairly nice play structure. Lots of grass. Despite all these recreation options, I could only find one porta-potty in the parking lot. No drinking fountains. I confirmed with a regular visitor that was it. It shares a parking lot with the Broomfield Depot Museum so maybe there are restrooms in there? But the Depot Museum is only open on Saturdays from 9-3 according to the website so that doesn't work. My point is come prepared. It's about a quarter mile walk to commercial so that's an option as well. The material under the play structure was all wood chips. Not my favorite but probably the most common material for playgrounds these days. Two toddler swings and one regular swing (I think one was broken). There was also a pretty fun spinning stool shaped like a leaf and one of the ladders going up to the monkey bars also spun. Lots of things to climb on. My toddler had fun. But the lack of restrooms and drinking fountains for such a large park makes me sad.

The trails going through the park are also good for biking, hiking, walking or jogging. Your four footed pet will also love the wide open spaces to run and jump.
