We were only in town for the day and I wished to explore some of the ruins of castles of my ancestors while in the area. I contacted the agency the night before arriving to see if they could help with this request. Anthony Cannon responded to my email request promptly, offering me several fair and reasonable options after obtaining some details about my day. He was extremely pleasant and gave me several helpful tips so that I could meet my driver easily and quickly the next day. Our driver was also named Anthony and he went above and beyond to make sure I saw the land and castles of my ancestors and got us back to the ship with time to spare! This was no small feat given the fact that there were road closures and the ruins of the castle are not easily marked. Anthony took the time to ask several of the locals how to find it to ensure our trip was complete. If that wasn't enough, Anthony was also very friendly and engaging throughout the trip and clearly aims to make customer satisfaction his number 1 goal - a trait not often found in this day and age! Thank you to both Anthony's for an absolutely wonderful and memorable trip. If you need transportation while visiting in the area, please consider A Cabs Cobh. You will not regret it!

COBH'S DEEP WATER QUAY Cobh has seen famine ships and…read moretransportation ships come and go over the years but now the town's Deepwater Quay welcomes luxury liners on cruises around Europe. Buses and taxis were coming and going when I called there today to see the Crown Princess, one of many to visit this summer. Check out the schedule at http://www.visitcobh.com and perhaps add a visit to see a liner to your activities in the East Cork area. The quay is just a few minutes from the Fota Wildlife Park and indeed not much longer from the East Cork Parkway that links the city and Youghal. The Princess line makes many of these calls and their Crown Princess is certainly a large and impressive ship and is due again on the 12th of August. Oh, and by the way, even if there is no liner in, Cobh has a string of attractions to keep you busy, including a cruise of Cork Harbour. I must try that next time.

Firstly the Wi-Fi was non-existent when we were there and when people are traveling out of the country they kind of depend on WiFi for cellular cost reasons. You have to do better with the bathroom lighting. Pink lighting is not great for a woman applying makeup lol. There was another light in that bathroom but it is very dim. There is nowhere to put anything like toiletries in the bathroom, no hooks, no shelving, no nothing it was very awkward in there. Also, our towel heater didn't work and I don't even think it was connected and they didn't have washcloths(which I've noticed is a thing throughout and I still don't get it lol) but no worries because I brought my own with me because I knew there would be about an 95% chance there would be no washcloths. All of this would've been a bigger deal if our stay was longer but it wasn't so these are just suggestions. Overall it's a beautiful spot and everyone was very nice.

Once settled her restaurant, pub and sightseeing tips were first rate. Bed was very comfortable and house was quiet (although we were travelling during the off season). Upon arriving, Olive was warm, welcoming, and took care of us with a pot of tea and chocolates and a friendly disposition that made us feel as if we were her old friends just popping by for a visit rather than strangers meeting for the first time. She had plenty of stories to share and wisdom on where to go and what to see while in Cork (and the appropriate maps to guide us in the right direction). Our room was cozy with a reasonably sized bathroom (by Irish standards) and a sweeping view over the city. The breakfast was prompt and piping hot - my husband raved about the black and white pudding, while I stuck to scrambled eggs, beans, and toast. Plus, the B&B is located a comfortable walking distance from the bus terminal and train station. I'd recommend Auburn House to any out of town visitors looking for the full B&B experience.
