There were so many restaurants to choose from in Kelowna. We decided on pizza. Never expected it to be so good. They use legit Neapolitan ingredients. Caputo flour, San Marzano tomatoes, etc. You can buy a small or large bag of Caputo flour there. Both the Casesar salad and Bufala Arugula salad were really good. I liked the Casesar better but others like the Bufala better. All the pizzas were really good. Great thin crispy and chewy crust. The margherita is classic. My favorite was probably the Americano. Others liked the Carne-Val. It had a little kick to it. The primavera was good but probably my least favorite. The chef said he is in preparing to get his AVPN certification. A very disappointing experience, this place seems very chaotic and disorganized. There are containers of dough and big bags of flour sitting in the middle of the restaurant. Fabulous service and tasty food with a real pizza oven! It's fun watching the folks who make the pizza, they add a little flair! Delicious Neapolitan pizza, Crispy crust and soft base, with a perfect little bit of char. The front of house staff couldn't be nicer. I had the lunchtime special for take-out. I thought the crust had a nice consistency. The sauce made the pizza a bit soggy and the cheese was sparse. They should use more toppings. The flavour was okay. I don't know if I will go back as I had better. The oven is cute and so is the ambiance. The prices are a bit much for what they offer. I have been enjoying the pizza at this restaurant for a few years now. The food itself is absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, tasty, etc. However, the past few times I've visited, I have witnessed the management/owner snapping at staff or berating them--in front of customers. I don't personally know anyone who works here, but staff turnover seems high and it's pretty obvious why. It's hard to support a business that doesn't treat it's people well, especially when so many places are having a hard time finding workers. Such a bummer. read more

When we found out that an authentic Napoletana pizzeria opened up in out favorite vacation town, we were very excited to try it out. First off, I need to explain that I have been to many different Napoletana style pizzerias, which includes all of the Pizzeria Bianco spots in Phoenix, AZ as we vacation there often. This is the famed Napoletana pizza restaurant that many have boasted being the best in all of North America AND Italy. Chris Bianco uses all the best (few) ingredients and manipulates them to their absolute best potential in relation to each other. This is the genius of a world class Napoletana pizza. Unfortunately, though close, this is where Antico doesn't quite cut it (literally...they don't cut the pizza, which makes it a bit of a struggle with this type of chewy crust). The crust was quite good...being an artisan home bread baker, I know my dough, and it was pretty good, chewy, and well charred from the authentic wood fired oven. The problem lies mostly in the sauce. Even though they boast using San Marzano tomatoes, the sauce still needed tweaking to be in perfect balance. I found that in the Margherita pizza, the sauce was fine because it was helped by the richness of the cheese. However, with the Marinara pizza, the sauce showed its true colours and proved to be overly acidic. I couldn't even finish my pizza it was so sour. I also found both pizzas to be a bit on the salty side...and I am a salt fiend. Half of the basil leaves came out charred and burnt. This could be avoided by placing the leaves on after the bake. The top of the fresh pizza will be hot enough to semi-cook the basil onto itself. I hear that this technique is sometimes frowned upon by purists, but in my opinion, better to do that than hand over burnt basil. I never received burnt basil from any of the other great Napoletana pizza restaurants I have been to. Yes, we will be returning to Antico. Don't get me wrong, it is pretty good pizza and I am very happy to see more and more restaurants offering this style of pizza. If they simply pay more attention to detail of the very few ingredients that are on these pizzas, then I believe that more than just the passing by tourists will flood through their doors during the bitter slow winter months. This tourist town needs to win over the locals to last through the winters. Looking forward to our next visit, and hope they improve on the small details and eventually become another long standing, successful restaurant on Bernard Ave. read more

As a plant based individual I was disappointed to see they only had one option, a pizza with tomato sauce and no cheese. We got olives for $2 and they put on maybe 5 olives. Very impressed! I had heard a lot about this place from friends and so I decided to go today (Sunday) for lunch. It was only myself and a few other couples in the restaurant, so fairly quiet. I ordered the special, Margarita with red pepper and Italian sausage. It came and to my surprise it had been stretched very thin, which made the centre a soggy write off, and the toppings were half hazzardly grouped to one area. When I informed, who I think is the owner, he immediately remade my order himself while also providing an explanation of their creation process which helped me understand that this is obviously not a regular occurrence. He delivered the fresh pizza and it was fantastic! Crispy crust, evenly spaced toppings, and just the right amount of sauce! As for taste.... Crust: 8/10 Sauce: 8.5/10 Toppings: 9/10 all around great flavour. Also it came very fast! Would definitely recommend you give them a try! read more
