Since I haven't been in so long, Dr. Shakya and the assistant, Kaitlynn made me feel comforted and was explaining everything to me. I have had several bad experiences in the past with dental work and was overwhelmed looking for the right dentist for me in the middle of a pandemic! I found Premier Dental on my list of dentists available who take my insurance. When I called, Sarah was extremely friendly and helpful. This was my first time using my insurance and she explained everything to me and broke down the costs so I could understand it better. She also took my needs of finding a caring dentist into consideration and really cared about me having a good experience. They took all precautions to screen me for any COVID symptoms and explained the cleaning practices they do to protect patients. Everyone was so awesome and really made me feel welcome. Dr Keller would be so sad. I had a horrible experience with their "specialist" and new owner. Was having difficulty post procedure and left many messages with the staff but the Dr NEVER called me back. Interesting how they were originally going to refer me to an Oral Surgeon, then called me and said "oh the owner of the practice can do it here". Should've gone to the surgeon. read more

I'm not sure how to rate this dentistry. My deep cleaning was broken up into two separate sessions. The first session focused on the left side of my mouth and the second session focused on the right side of my mouth (almost 2 months later). The first session was great. In the first session, the hygienist was very personable, attentive, and performed the cleaning process with precision and excellence, in my opinion. I felt some discomfort but no pain. I was very happy. My fear of going to the dentist actually went away. When the hygienist completed the cleaning process, she provided me with helpful cleaning instructions, and a goodies bag with cleaning essentials. The second cleaning session (the right side) however was an awful experience. Unfortunate for me, they used a different Hygienist to clean the right side of my mouth. She was cold and not very attentive. Her approach was totally different from the first hygienist. With the second hygienist, the cleaning process was painful and if compared to the first hygienist incomplete, in my opinion. Finding a good dentistry to call home has been a very difficult and convolute process. I thought I found a home with Antioch Premier Dental until my experience with the second hygienist. I will keep looking. This place scares me. They don't seem to operate under standard protocol or procedure. It seems each hygienist uses their own personal approach. You never know if your hygienist will be pleasant or painful and that scares me a lot. I hate pain.... Whoever is reading this, good luck. Perhaps you will get one of the excellent hygienist that deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky ones. Ugh! I hate pain and I hate going to the dentist again. Bummer!!! read more

As far as the dental work, and hygienist's they are all great. as far as the admin staff i am not a happy customer. my spouse and I currently are both insured under each other. They have known this as we have been going their for years. yesterday when i went in for a cleaning i was ask to pay 84.00. not thinking about it i let them run my card. any other time cleaning are billed to both insurances so my co-pay is usually 0.00. when i told them they made a mistake they told me they would leave a note for who ever and they would reverse it tomorrow. when calling today they tried 3 times to reverse the charges on my card, then had the nerve to ask me is it was the same card i used yesterday because the refund would not process. then tried to tell me to call back later because their machine was working and its not their fault its the card machine. TAKE SOME RESPONIBILITY FOR THE BUSNIESS YOU WORK AT AND YOUR DAMN EQUIPMENT. RIDICULOUS read more

I've been coming here since early 2017. Today I brought my two older daughters in for cleanings. This place is so warm and cozy. The staff treats us all with such kindness and courtesy. Grateful I was referred her years ago. I will continue to come here and bring my kids. My youngest daughter goes to a pediatric dentist referred to us by this office. I started with Dr. Burk as a child, and although going to the dentist is never fun I do have fond memories of those visits. Especially the treasure chest- (Which they still have)! In my early twenties my coverage with my parents expired and I had nearly no dental coverage for 5 years and through two pregnancies. But when I finally needed coverage I opted for delta dental through Costco and it worked for awhile. But after I had a pretty bad experience at my dental place in Brentwood, I decided to shop around and I found Premier Dental (again). The office is calm and and clean and the staff is friendly and professional. I appreciate Claudia reaching out to me to remind me to come in before my benefits expire. I had my teeth cleaned a couple months ago and my hygienist was friendly and did a good job as far as I could see. I also had a crown put on and although it looks great, it was uncomfortable and took longer to get used to than my same day crown at my last dentist. Today I brought my 3 kids in for X-rays and cleanings and while we did wait awhile we had a good time with Dr. Nina and her assistant Nancy (who btw is great kids). They provided excellent service for my very impatient children... they even got to pick something from the treasure chest! On a side note, I appreciate not being lectured when I opted out of fluoride. I dropped a star because of wait times and treasure chest options. We will be back to see how the fillings go! read more

I AM NO LONGER A PATIENT because Premier Dental submitted charges to my insurance company for "CRWN S" work, billing an amount of $2,001.00 for each crown for a total of $4,002.00. The supposed "CRWN S" work occurred on 03/10/2023. After the initial office visit consisting of X-rays and inspecting my teeth, I canceled twice all future scheduled procedures. To date, there was no crown work done or completed. During my second telephone call to the dental office, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the charges since one crown was removed because the dentist was "curious" whether the anchor tooth was viable and healthy. I never had any problems with that particular tooth and it proved to be healthy. Yet, Premier Dental billed me for a crown replacement for the tooth that was arbitrarily removed. The bookkeeper/receptionist stated that she would bring the issue to the office manager and that they would get back to me. To date, six months later, I have not spoken to anyone about the billing nor received an itemized hard copy of the billing through the mail service. I placed a telephone call on 09/07/2023, hoping to hear from Premier Dental to discuss charges that appear to be fraudulent for "CRWN S" work not done or completed. read more

I went to this practice based on Yelp reviews and a recommendation from a neighbor. I will never go back. Dr. Burk may be a good dentist - but, except for a brief exam - I have never seen him. The only work I have done there is by a contract dentist for a deep cleaning. The office staff is a complete disaster. On my first visit - for a simple cleaning - I was left waiting for an hour without any explanation - despite my asking several times - and being rebuffed. I left. On my second visit - for the deep cleaning in January - one of the office staff tried to charge me twice the agreed-upon amount - and was rude about it. The contract dentist's assistant had to educate this staff member about how to bill me correctly. I then received a bill for the total amount of the cleaning - even though I have insurance (which they were to bill) and I had paid my share of the cost on the day of the cleaning. I was also told to expect an estimate for 2 additional procedures that Dr. Burk had recommended. That was in January. I have written and called several times and never received a response. I received a call a few weeks ago to confirm a deep cleaning appointment at 8 am the next day. I told the person that (a) I had already had a deep cleaning and (b) I never make appointments for 8am. The person told me that if I didn't want to show up - I should just have called. I told her that she had the wrong person and someone was probably going to show up the next day at 8 am - and find his/her appointment cancelled. The person hung up on me. I recently received yet another bill for the deep cleaning in January. I wrote another letter to Dr. Burk on May 10. I have still not received any response. My former dentist in San Francisco has a huge number of patients - and a very small and very competent staff. There was never any hiccup in appointments, wait-times or billing. In my many years with a number of dentists - I have never experienced such a clown- car of incompetence and rudeness. read more

He replaced a sensitive filling, he fixed my chipped front tooth (it looks perfect), and is a great advisor about dental health overall. Nicole is my hygienist now and she's great too! I'd like to say how disappointed I am in the experience I had last week. I called to make an appointment, they booked me for Friday at 2:30. I arranged for the day off from work. The day of my appointment a girl named Kaitlyn i believe was her name, called me from the office and asked me if I would be able to come in earlier than my scheduled appointment time. I told her I would make the accommodations and I'd be there in about 20 mins. She said great and we hung up. Well, on my way to my appointment, ...Kaitlyn called me again and asked me how far out I was and when I expected to be there. ok?! Now I'm confused. I asked her why she has now called me twice in a half hour to question me about how soon I could get there. I felt very rushed and not comfortable and not at all relaxed. I mean who likes going to the dentist anyway. I asked her if she was trying to rush my appointment and get out of the office early being that it was the weekend before the forth of July. She says oh no, we were just wondering there's no rush. Then why 2 phone calls in a half hour? I was already coming in early to accommodate them. What a terrible way to treat a patient. I told her I was just turning into the parking lot but to go ahead and cancel my appointment and that I would be going somewhere else. I've never been late to a dental appointment before so I'm wondering why I was treated this way? So now I have to find a new dentist. Thanks Kaitlyn! Be very cautious when going here! They quoted me wrong and changed the price after I got the work done. The office manager, Karen is the one that made the "mistake" of quoting me wrong and it cost me hundreds of dollars more. I would not have gone to this dentist office knowing that my insurance doesn't cover the work at their dentist (she told me my insurance plan covers it at 80% which was false). Also the young female dentist that did my work was very inexperienced. My retainer did not fit after getting the work done and has now messed up the alignment of my teeth that have been perfect ever since I got braces 5 years ago! Just Don't go here I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! read more

Got a tooth fixed there last month. First, when greeted at the office the staff was very friendly. Offered me something to drink almost immediate. . I'm not a fan of needles and drills but had to do this. They where very patient with me and did a great job on addressing my concerns. Highly recommend Family Dentistry. read more

I came to this dental office for over 7 years without issues but once they changed ownership - they cared more about money then their clients. Before the staff was very nice and helpful. Made me feel welcomed, but then going in - everyone was new. I got my cleanings done regularly every 6 months and the last time I went they tell me I needed a deep cleaning plus a needed to redo some of my old fillings from when I was younger. Which I didn't understand if I help up with everything. After insurance they were expecting me to pay over $400 for everything which I couldn't afford. They gave me an option to give them a 5 star rating on Yelp for money off my services which i did toward my fillings. Over time I went for a 2nd opinion on a deep cleaning and they said I am not in need of a deep cleaning. Based on my X-rays, the build up on my teeth was lack of cleaning on their part. I immediately cancelled all future appointments and told them I will not be coming back. read more

I live in Berkeley but refuse to give up my dentist amd the great staff here. They remember my name and what we have talked about in the past. They have been very, very forgiving of my lateness in the past, and should have charged me a late fee, but I would be happy to pay! They let me know how I can save money. Every hygienist I met has been super nice and seems well-educated. When another dentist at the office sees me, he is as nice as my regular dentist. I could go on...it doesn't get any better! read more
