But I was highly impressed with the cleanliness, organization, and prices at Apple Wagon Antique Mall. I visit many similar stores every year in this region and I found this place to be a cut above most with the same types of merchandise. They do have some genuine antiques (some very cool stuff) more to the right side of the large building. To the left and straight back, it's the type of merchandise you would find in Hobby Lobby along with Fiestaware seconds. Neither category is my thing, but I know them well enough to see that prices were good. If I was a suburban mom with a big garden and kids/teen rooms to decorate I would have been in heaven here, I'll say that. TIP: If you're thinking about a road trip stop here, they have clean restrooms and inexpensive candy, bottled water and soda so you can avoid a c-store this time, if you please.

We were looking at what we could see from the window and we're seen by the workers inside. They came and opened they shop back up for us. Purchased a pair of earrings, a beautiful marble, and a Christmas tree ornament. The man waiting on us was super friendly and offered to show us their workroom where he demonstrated how they create create their glass art. I liked it so much that I got one to go along with a lavender infused chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was OK, it needed more moisture. Kudos for the lavender not being overpowering to where you're essentially eating a laundry pod. The shop: the shop has many natural made products such as soaps, cuticle oil, sprays and the like. There are many lavender infused items of course. I bought a soap and lavender fudge brownie mix. Can't wait to bake.

That was a couple of years ago, and the Antiques store is now closed, but The Shop is still open and seems to be doing well enough considering it's still open when I have seen no advertisements for it. It's in a small little building on Booneslick Road, which is the service road. Four women own it and make the crafts and sell the antiques and other merchandise sold there. The Shop sells handmade cards, beautifully painted signs, and candles, jewelery, etc. If you're buying a gift for a female, this is a great place to go. If you're a female shopping for yourself, you will likely find something here. My one complaint: They don't take credit cards. I don't think they take checks, either. There is no place for cash back anywhere near High Hill. There is no gas station, you can't get cash back at the Farmer's Mercantile, and the woman at the Post Office told me they only keep $30 in cash at the store, and didn't offer to part with $20 of those dollars so I could purchase some cards and a caramel popcorn-scented soy candle that burns for 75 hours. I really, really wish they took credit cards. I left with nothing today, but I will try to go back for my candle soon.

Not a fussy, fancy pants operation but a serious small framing and crafts business and a true blue BARN full of old, old items that would delight anyone who is restoring an old home or likes that aesthetic. A bit off the beaten path, but it's also very near Stone Hill Winery and not too difficult to find if you know that it looks more like a couple of shabby houses and some metal and junk. They are knowledgable about their inventory, which is nice if you aren't sure what you are looking for. The "Happy Family" and "Sky Painter" brands are unfamiliar to me, but after watching videos I found some gems. They also carry Black Cat, which is classic. It's nice to get some cakes people have never seen before.
