I've already reviewed Antoine's in the past but I have to give another review for another item that is a total knock out on the menu. Today, we got the Lox Bagel and the Avocado bagel and they were both so good. The lox was very fresh and so was the avocado. Don't be fooled and think that you are getting something light and small because both of them are massive, I had to take half home. They both had amazing flavor, and the coffee is always good and strong. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and made for a nice experience. We sat outside on the patio and whether you sit in or out you will be pleased. If you haven't checked this place out, you need to! Always a winner read more

Alrighty, it has finally the time for me to tried out this place and keep in mind ya'll, I've been in San Clemente for a long time and I'm sorry that I haven't eaten here. I wish I did sooner! I past by this place on my way to work every day. Literally. Its on route for me and I never thought to myself to eat breakfast here nor check it out, I know on the days when I head back home it's always pack and people be waiting for a table. And that's on a sunny day. Well I was wrong for thinking oh it wouldn't be crowded on a rainy day. NOPE. I was sooooo wrong. It was PACKED and busy. Ain't even the rain gonna stop people to get some good food. What supposed to be a long day at work, tournament was cancelled last minutes and my staff was really bummed because we did travel to work. (I work two jobs and the other is a bit of commute to get to) so with that I was thinking, heck, it's still early in the morning (7am on sunday, a rainy sunday) and suggested breakfast. A bit of yelp search, i stumbled on Antoine's and saw a couple of Elites reviewed and ask my staff if they wanted to eat here. Took less than a couple of second but everyone agreed. By the time we got there (around 10am) it was packed and the rain was just picking up because before we got here, the car in front of us hydroplane and skid off the road and hit the curb. Yet, this place was still pack and parking was full. (We found street parking near Starbucks) I had my staff placed our name down since she lives closer, but they won't see you until all your party is here and that's fine. We ended up seating at the bar and left the booth for other parties. Love the teamwork, the staff were super stars doing a rush like that, let me tell you it PACKED HOUSE and we got our food and drinks on time, no one in my party had to wait to eat and I forgot to take pictures of my staff meals, only took mines and what I got for the table to share was a croissant french toast, which I believe was their special of the day. I got the chicken fried steak and the portion are MASSIVE!!! All of us took our food home because the portion size are insanely big and bang for the buck!! Great place to eat breakfast or brunch or even a 'Team Building Breakfast Time' LOL Just happy to treating out my amazing staff on their work. ANTOINE'S CAFE @ SAN CLEMENTE Parking is available in their private parking lot, and there's plenty of space. We were actually able to snatch a spot on Valentine's Day morning, which I was honestly surprised about. We came in around 9:30 AM and there was already a waitlist, but the wait wasn't bad at all only about 10 minutes. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe is very much your classic neighborhood café not super modern or trendy, but more homey, cozy, and family-friendly. It really feels like the kind of spot that locals go to all the time. We ordered the Nutella crêpe, the biscuits and gravy (which came with sausage and hash browns), and an omelet filled with goat cheese, turkey, and spinach. Everything was delicious. The portions were solid and the quality was really great. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Pricing is pretty average, around $16 to $23 depending on what you order but for the quality and portion sizes, it's definitely worth it. If a roadside diner and an Irish pub had a baby, you'd get Antoine's. I walked by a few days prior and noticed this little spot and had to return and try the breakfast myself. Sat at the counter for coffee and my own concoction that I didn't actually see on the menu. It was the breakfast burrito without the wrap; turned out that's a scramble bowl. Eggs, veggies cheese on top of hashbrowns. Filling, hot and delish! I would order again in a heartbeat. The server gals were super sweet but I did have to flag them down a few times as they must have been having an interesting convo. Big on atmosphere, big on service, food is just...passable. It's not bad, but it's nothing to write home about. Met up with friends for breakfast, ordered the ham & egg croissant, strawberry crepe, and a hot chai. For $20 I kind of expected more than basic diced ham & basic scrambled eggs on a soggy croissant. And the $9 crepe was just sliced strawberries on a crepe with a side of whipped cream. Again, figured it would have more of a filling with cream or compote, or anything that showed some culinary prowess. On the plus side, the fruit was fresh & delicious. The actual star of the meal was the chai. While it wasn't a unique, spicy house blend (probably a basic off the shelf concentrate), it was served in a bowl with generous cinnamon and foamy top. I didn't know drinking chai from a bowl would elevate it so much! If this was served in a mug it would just be mid, but there's something special and transformative to adding the tactile warm of a bowl along with the extra cinnamon aroma you get while tilting to sip that made this experience stand out. So good I ordered a refill! Out of the 4 of us, nobody finished their meal but we all had chai refills. TLDR: chai is great, food is pricier than flavor, but service & atmosphere are top notch. read more

Antoine's is a little cafe in San Clemente with some seriously great vibes. The food is fantastic and so are the servers. Today, Tara was helping us out, and she was very kind and attentive. I shared French toast and the Veggie crepe with a friend, and the crepe was the star of the show for me. The Swiss cheese was warm and gooey, and all the veggies blended perfectly together. What I like is that the food isn't trying too hard. It's simple, fresh, and you're getting exactly what you expect. I got patty melt - large patty on thick swirly rye bread. Perfectly cooked and delicious. The fries at Antoine's are always very good. Others got: Steak and Eggs - he was amazed at the nice chunk of steak, perfect Medium rare. Herb butter on top was a nice touch. Nicely done over medium eggs. Biscuits and Gravy - nicely done over easy eggs. It must have been good since he kept saying he had to stop since he was full, but kept eating until it was done! He really liked the generous amount of tasty gravy over fresh biscuits. This place is solid and consistent. Try the Red Fox Lounge next door for a divey bar experience with heavy handed cocktails and you can order food from Antoine's! Try it. Update: Unfortunately I failed to mention Travis, our server. 5 stars for service. He was friendly, kept up with us on drinks and checked in on us to make sure everything was good. Every time I'm in the area I see a ton of people waiting outside. Today I decided to get on the list and have breakfast. It was about a half hour wait and I got a seat at the counter. This place is really small. Both the inside and outside eating areas are full. While waiting for a table, I made friends with some of the locals. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak with hash and scrambled eggs. It was a hearty meal. I left with a happy tummy. As busy as they were, service was excellent. My tea glass was always full. This is a nice little diner with a nice ambiance. It is "Diner" food, so very basic, almost uninspired offerings. Very attentive and pleasant wait staff and service. I had their pastrami on rye which was good but again uninspiring. Others in our party had a Cobb salad and a Club sandwich. Both were fresh and filling, but again, a bit uninspired. Think "Meh". If you're out and about in San Clemente and are hungry this could be your stop for a nice diner experience. read more

A quick visit to San Clemente found us at Antoine's for breakfast. Really nice to be here on a Monday, you can actually find parking. $50 plus breakfasts get a little fatiguing on the wallet but when you have to pay that much, it had better be worth it and it was! Their steak, while not the biggest breakfast cut I've ever had, was tender and cooked to perfection. They doubled up on my hash browns since eggs are not my thing and those too were delicious. My wife enjoyed her breakfast sandwich and also did a lot of damage on the hash browns. Worth the stop? Certainly. Worth the money? I've spent more for less so yes. read more

We decided to stop by on our way from SD to LA for brunch. This places is small with outside seating. The service was great from all staff, but our server Vincent is in a league of his own. He enjoys his job and helping people. He goes out of his way to make sure we get what we want even when there's a problem with the order. Our food came out slower than usual, but we ordered the chicken fried steak (great) but could use more gravy. Pancakes were loaded with strawberries and blueberries inside AND on top! (Thanks to Vincent). The special on the pastrami sandwich wasn't anything special and could use more meat which came with thin French fries. For the price, I expected more layers of pastrami instead of 2 or 3 layers that I could make at home. Hard pass on the pastrami and get it elsewhere. We found a brunch spot for New Year's Day in San Clemente, and it was the only place open. My husband and I were so relieved because we were starving and ready for a good meal. When we arrived, there was already a line, and we were about the 8th group waiting, but the line moved quickly. The staff, including the waiters, waitresses, and hostesses, were working hard to accommodate everyone. After about a 30-minute wait, we got seated. We ordered fresh-squeezed orange juice, pastrami sandwiches, and chicken-fried steak, which came with a choice of pancakes or toast. I chose pancakes, and our waiter, Vincent, offered to decorate them with walnuts, bananas, or strawberries for $1.50 per topping. It's a beautiful little spot. I sat outside. Enjoyed the sunshine and people watched while I had a great breakfast. Randi was my server and she's phenomenal. We had a great conversation. And her timing and service was impeccable. The only issue I had was that they overcooked my steak. Wasn't a huge deal. They tried to replace it, but it was still delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and I love the quality of the wheat toast. One thing of note is the ketchup . People should shift away from condiments that are not specially made . It's nice when there are craft condiments on the table. The ketchup here it's probably not that much more expensive than Hines but a heck of a lot better I'll definitely be coming back. read more

First thing to know: we love breakfast (actually I love breakfast, and husband loves me). I have a couple of "go to" preparations that are a meter for how much I'm going to love breakfast at a particular place: 1. Chicken fried steak. (The gravy is what makes it special!) 2. Soft scrambled eggs. Almost like custard with lovely yolk slightly undercooked. Too easy, you're thinking. Everyplace does these. . However, not always well. Antoine's did both: perfectly. I also ordered a Nutella mocha which came in a bowl! I'm attaching a picture -- trust me, it was much more impressive before I slurped some. On my husband's side: he likes a tuna melt. Again -- meh, you're thinking. Everyplace does those. But here the rye is well marbled and sliced thick enough to stand up to the task without too much mayo. AND the tuna is grilled before it's added in the sandwich. Delectable. Now the most important part for any restaurant-- the people. We were fortunate to meet Monserrat and Emma and have them exceed our every expectation. They are hosts in the best sense. (Next time we'll meet the Yelp-famous Travis.) Parking is ample. Seating inside might be a bit tight on a busy morning, but fine on a Wednesday. It's San Clemente, so outside on the patio is a great choice. Sit outside. Sure inside. Get something to go. We went to Antoine's Café for breakfast one of the mornings. Everything on the menu looked so good! It was hard for me to choose what I wanted. We ordered the bottle of mimosa with pomegranate juice. It was good, typical mimosas. For breakfast, I ordered the veggie tacos, minus onions. They were so full! I loved all the avocado added to this. It was a decent sized portion on each taco. I wish these had some kind of sauce on them or a salsa. The pico that came with these was good but it needed something a little more to break up the taco I felt like. My boyfriend ordered the Bacon, eggs, & hashbrown dish with a pancake with peanut butter. I forgot to take a picture of the pancake but it was a good sized pancake! Our little table was pretty crowded with food. My SIL ordered the veggie crepe, minus mushrooms. She really liked it, said the portion between crepe & veggies was good. She also thought the veggies were cooked really well. The kids ordered the Mickey Mouse Pancake. It was so cute! Went back to Antoine cafe after been back to Paris-France for 8 years and did of course filled my transition beautifully before owners French and there for so many years,run with their Chef David a very tasty,pleasant and delicious menu.
