I used Grubhub through Yelp to order my dinner and overall, I was disappointed in my meal. I ordered the 4 beef taco plate with a side of chips and salsa. Delivered cost was $23. That is over double what in house dining would be! The food would have tasted better if it had arrived hot as it was close to a cool room temperature. The portion containers holding the bland salsa were too small to dip the tortilla chips. This is a big deal when you are charged over $5 for an item that is always complimentary when you eat in house at a Mexican restaurant. read more

I've had tacos from here before that were fine, but this morning my usual taco truck was closed so I decided to try a breakfast burrito from here... biggest mistake I think I have ever made. called in my order tonight. ordered my usual 2 sopes vegan. I requested that yhey not be deep fried. when I got there to pick up my food. the lady said that it was all bagged up. I paid and went on my way. get home open up the bag frist thing I see is the sopes were fried they were full of grease or oil. didnt taste good. not as bad as that but not at all enjoyable the jalepenos were over cooked. then I started to eat the the side of beans and all i could taste were small crispy bits and it toke me a moment but i figured it out it was bits of fried pork which mixed in with pork lard. i just threw the beans in the garbage bin. i have asked repeatedly and I've been told that they only use vegetable oil here. I dont know what was going on tonight but it was not at all enjoyable. I usually enjoy the food here every time. so I'm only dropping down one star; because their has got to be some plausible reason for the quality of the food being so bad tonight. This is by far one of the best hole in the walls that I've been to. The food portions are huge! There is a sassy Latina girl who works at the counter who has a very laid back attitude, the atmosphere is dim lit with wrestling on the tv and random stools to sit on. The menu is plastered on the right wall with worn pictures of the food items. If you come here at night you might question what you are doing in this neighborhood but the food IS worth it. They serve some pretty damn good Lengua tacos here. And they load them up! The beef nachoes are amazing, no no not your typical American bar food cheddar; they use Mexican cheese which even after cooling down still stretches and is just omg. The chef of this place feeds you like he feeds his kids. He didn't speak much English but was very nice. The homemade sauces here are dank! I tried not to take too many. This place used to be awesome, with authentic Mexican food and salsas. But they have gown downhill in a big way since 2021. Their prices are up by 50% and are never accurate. If a burrito is $8 on the online menu, it is $10 on the store menu and $12 at the register. My favorite part used to be the salsas, especially the spicy peanut salsa. Today, that peanut salsa is remarkably watered down and nothing like what it used to be. And they are VERY stingy with them for takeout. Buy four full meals and get 4-6 small cups of salsa. Disappointing. Also, they no longer have the squeeze bottles of salsa in the cooler for anyone to use. Those salsas are the reason I used to eat there. And now there's a sign to not use too many condiments (like cucumbers) "or there will be an extra charge". And their cooler has a sign that says "Please Keep Close". Close to what? Great food. Tastes exactly like how I remember by grandma making it. The atmosphere is a little Smokey from the grill and a lot hot. The counter area is straight forward and easy to order from. Pictures on the wall show you what each meal looks like. I highly recommend the salsa bar. The avocado salsa while not hot has amazing flavor. I got a bean and cheese burrito as a basic taste test. Not quite sure why this place has such high reviews. They definitely have a lot of options, but nothing that's out of this world. Who knows, maybe I'm spoiled from the past restaurants I've had back in California. I had a shrimp burrito. I tried to ask for added avocado and the lady at the counter replied "avocado or guac" and I said either, and she looked at me with a demeaning look and said something to her colleague in spanish. She was abrasive when taking orders and when she was talking to her co-workers. Which made for an unpleasant dining atmosphere. When we were seated we were looking for the sauces, but they were all in a cart with no containers to put the sauces in. We must have come on a bad day. Had the chorizo eggs. Burned meat. Had the enchiladas plate,.. burnt meat. I am not quite sure why this is so highly rated. It is cheap. It is fast. It's where you go to buy a big plate of food. 1. I love chorizo 2. Who doesn't love enchiladas? The beans and rice were not anything special. 7 strands of cheese for decoration.
