So I chalked up at Tonbridge and waited 5 minutes to be seated. I was on my own and am 6'2" and not that missable. After approaching a waiter in a relatively quiet restaurant, I was then seated and offered a menu and drink order taken. After another 10 minutes a food order was taken. I went for the starter of chilli spiced salmon ricotta and lamb meatballs pizza. Both were off the "Taste of autumn" menu and were very tasty. The starter (also available as a main) was especially tasty and would have it again. The food itself was a good four stars but the service was shockingly poor and was two stars at best, so overall a three star.

Mind you, it nearly always is at Pizza Express: we've dined out at various branches a number of times over the years and we've never been disappointed. Their philosophy of using good ingredients and educating their customers (especially the children) about food is spot on: they lift pizza above the 'fast food' category, which sets them apart from other pizza chains. So all in all, an excellent chain of restaurants, and in Tonbridge an excellent branch of the chain. Highly recommended.
