It took us 3 1/2 years, but we finally found the best doctor in Stuttgart!…read more Dr. Mario Friedrich-Grossl, is one of the most thoughtful, kind, competent, friendly, intuitive, and skilled doctors that my family and I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He will not only make the time to listen and thoroughly address your concerns, but he will also go out of his way to make you and/or your family feel completely comfortable in his practice - especially if you have a very curious 5-year-old! Additionally, his bedside manner and customer service skills are stellar and beyond comparison. He is also impressively calm, collected, and very attentive, in spite of having a crushing schedule (his practice sees an average of 200-300 patients per day). And given that he practices internal and emergency medicine, patients can see him for something as simple as a cold or for something as severe as a life-threatening situation. Dr. Friedrich-Grossl's staff, although they do not speak English (not that we should expect them to), are friendly and helpful as well. Parking is limited but available in front of his practice, which sits in a quiet residential area. There are also two other doctors that work in his practice. My husband tells me that the older female doctor is quite competent, but perhaps is not as friendly. There is also a younger female doctor, who is equally skilled and has proven to be nice to our 13-year-old daughter. For an American, the thought of having to schedule an appointment with his staff in German may be intimidating. But I promise you that it will be worth the struggle as any American (or German) will be hard pressed to find a doctor in the Stuttgart area that is as wonderful as Dr. Friedrich-Grossl!!

But she also takes a very holistic approach to addressing one's health issues, as she understands that it's not enough to simply treat a symptom - you have to tackle it at its core. Which is a large part of the reason why she will take as much time as necessary to listen to all of her clients' concerns. Additionally, her office is incredibly warm and inviting, to the point where I felt as if I was in the comfort of my own home. It was also exceptionally clean and filled with well kept, modern equipment. Although parking is limited, my family and I were able to park at a parking garage that was simply a block away from her building; it's worth mentioning that the parking garage sits under a quaint café, the U.S. Shop, and is a stone's throw away from the India House Restaurant, which serves excellent food. Only good part about this place that is fast and professional is the radiology clinic. The intake ladies are terribly rude at the orthapedic clinic!! He spoke English well, proved to be incredibly competent, and truly cared about my experience at his shop (they will even serve you coffee, if you like). I appreciated the meticulous care he took in administering and explaining the results from my eye examination; he was equally patient in educating me on my eyeglass options. He even, per my request, provided two original signed copies of my bill (one for me and one for my insurance company). My overall experience at his shop, which could have been very daunting for a nonspeaking German, was incredibly pleasant and surprisingly painless. If you're looking for a super nice and skilled optician, I would highly recommend you contact Mr. Bollmann (preferably by email, the address for which is located on their Web site, as his staff's English speaking skills are not as advanced as his - which is surprisingly given that one of his staff members looks like she is two decades his junior!).
