You can find more about that at their website: http://openspacefairfield.com If you are new to yoga asanas, I would recommend starting with one of the Moderate Hatha classes, but if you are not a novice, you'll be comfortable jumping right into any of the vinyasa or hot yoga classes. The spin classes are fine for any level. If it is your first time to a spin class just let the instructor know and they will teach you how to adjust your bike. Similar to yoga, you get to decide how deep you go, by controlling the resistance entirely. If you're pretty intimidated by spin, try one of Diana's 'Rolling Ride, Moderate Spin' classes that she teaches in winter. Every teacher I've had at Open Space has been friendly and helpful. The fellow yogis and yoginis are also on the very friendly side. This is not just a place to practice yoga, it's a place to meet like-minded people in town. I would highly recommend the 30 day challenges that sometimes run. In the past, I have done 6 week yoga bootcamps that help me develop my practice in impressive ways, but they also leave me with injuries, like broken fingers, which ultimately set me back. The Open Space 30 day challenge is more controllable, because you get to pick from any class each day, mixing in Spin and Restorative Yoga if you desire. I spent the first 25 days of this past challenge avoiding the 'hot yoga' classes, and then discovered it is one of my favorite things ever - at least this cold winter! I felt that the challenge was just as beneficial as the bootcamp to developing my yoga, the difference being that when the challenge was over, I am not sick of yoga or injured! Open Space is a small business owned by a lovely Fairfield resident, Meghan. Open Space feels like a small positive community, one that you support and it supports you. If it is your first time, you can park in the municipal parking area behind the building, where there is also a door from the back alley. Or, you can choose to park on the square. Parking is free and easy to find! In the warmer seasons, the central location make it a very easy place to walk to. The only thing I would change about Open Space is to remove the studio mirrors. It takes me out of my practice to some degree, although, if I am honest it has probably helped me to become more aware of my alignment in some asanas. Alas, the world does not revolve around me!

Not even the sidewalk in front of the building was cleared. Rubber straps on the weight machines will not be replaced until they break which is scary when it happens to you and 400 lbs come crashing down. They have less hours open than 10 years ago. Some people insist on playing their own music out loud without using headphones while other music is playing through the loudspeakers. Kind of frustrating to hear two separate songs at the same time. Rules like that are not being enforced. The air conditioning always breaks in the summer.

Weekends are busier, but during the week the activities and numbers of people are sparse. Brighton is four miles away with a Dollar General. Washington is next with a Hy-Vee going into town and a WalMart at the other end. Also a beautiful YMCA if you want to exercise. Casey's at each end of town if you need a pizza. We love Lake Darling!

What a wonderful resource. I swim in Bonifield Lake and walk around its shores enjoying the waters…read moreand the forest. What I enjoy most is the opportunity to make photographs and videos of the wonderful wildlife found so abundantly there from Canadian Geese and woodpeckers, to fox and deer. Not to mention the frolicking squirrels. The park is well maintained, run and appreciated by all. A little sanctuary from a busy, bustling life, in the stillness, tranquility and wonderful, warmth of mother nature's embrace. Many thanks to all involved in making it possible and keeping it going. It's a priceless treasure I think we all take for granted when we should be thanking our lucky stars each and every day.

A pleasant park by the lake! This Waterworks park is named…read morefor the fact that the low end of the lake is the Fairfield Waterworks, where they're pumping the water and filtering it and probably adding fluoride and such, and pumping it to your homes. So don't go peeing in the lake, okay?! They have public restrooms set up by the side of the lake so you don't have to do that. The restrooms look like concrete bunkers, filled with crude graffiti. There's swimming in the lake, with a cordoned off area with buoys and a beach volleyball net and some picnic areas. There's some trails that go around the lake. Waterworks Park has ample parking and good signage to let you know where to park and where to go. It's a nice green park with lots of grass and trees for shade. There's plenty to see and do around here. It seems like it'd be fun to ride horses around here!

I see why it is called GAMERTAG LASER TAG FOR GAMERS. I felt like I was online with my friends and ready for an old fashioned match of HALO 3! The way you can set up your own call sign and track your real time stats make it feel like I am really in the game. It's a small town local joint that just opened but it sure seams like they spared no expense. The owners were super friendly and told me all about what u can do when playing. They have it all team snipers, team deathmatch just about all the classic game modes you could want plus some you didnt even know about that sounded fun when I have more time to spend here. They have a great all day pass and you can even buy one that links you to the arcade next door and play there all day too! Chautauqua! This park is apparently named after an Indian…read moretribe that used to hang out around here. This large, green park is situated on the edge of town, along the Crow Creek (also named after an Indian tribe.) The park is along a big loop that you can barely fit a car down most of the way. There are plenty of places to pull off in the shade and park and get out and explore the varied landscape of Chautauqua Park. The park offers a wide range of activities, from frisbee golf, to horse and hiking trails, to soccer goals, and playgrounds. There's lots of areas to just explore, with big hills and the stream that meanders through the park. There's a little something for everyone here. The park is large enough that you can get your own area to play, or meet up with others to relax. The park seems to have a lot of history. It's clean. Not very well lit, but still feels safe since you're in this small town.
