Under the new ownership the place has very much improved. The last time I was here was June 2016 and I was not impressed then. I decided to give it a try again as I was walking around and came across the familiar place. It was dinner time and I ordered the joojekabob (grilled Cornish style chicken) with basmati rice and mixed salad. It was delicious and the owners/servers were all pleasant and hard at work to meet the needs of all of their guest. The place was also packed this time. Great signs and now I have multiple Persian restaurants as my options whenever I visit Vienna. The touch of providing aromatic piece of Tahchin was also very unique and a pleasant surprise to go with fresh Barbary Naan, fresh greens, and Bulgarian cheese to get you started.

There are several Persian restaurants in Vienna but my favorite one - Apadana - is conveniently located in my hood. This is one of Vienna's oldest Persian eateries and one of its best. The menu here is extensive so you can try many different dishes but if you are in the category of Persian Food for Beginners, I'll recommend two meals for you. The national dish of Iran is Tschelo Kebab (saffroned basmati rice and grilled meats.) Then there is the well known chicken stew called Fesenjan prepared with walnuts and pomegranates. Add a little Sumac which is on every table to give more flavor to the rice or stew. Apadana is an old Farsi word for 'Palace'. Indeed inside this restaurant are many art works and objects. They add a lot to the atmosphere of good food and friendly service. So if you go to Apadana, let me wish you - 'Nooshe Jan!' (Bon Appetit). Tip - Apadana has a nice Schanigarten for warmer days and nights but still take a few minutes to go inside the restaurant and appreciate the artwork!

Fine Persian restaurant in Vienna. Nice ambiance, and a great collection of photos on the walls.
