As you can imagine, this was quite unsettling. I went through the interview patiently. I was told that the complaint was done by the Goddard School. The complaint was that I take walks with my younger child, without taking my elder child with me, and this was suspicious. I had been doing this for more than a year. So what had happened? What had happened a few days before that was that I had a disagreement with the director. The CPS officer, after satisfying herself by asking me all kind of questions, told me that they have received complaints like this in the past. Based on their feedbacks, they have realized that Goddard is very nice to the parents at the time of enrollment. A year or two after that, on any disagreement, they use one parent against the other. Or if they don't like something about you, they complain to the social service, on some pretext. By this time , the parents cannnot make the children go through a disruptive change, by changing the school. The school is obviously expert in human behavior, and has calculated this in its "art" of keeping the parents in check. The parents then start "working with" the school. She finally told me that the CPS service check is routine, and she will get back. The service was called off in about a month and a half. It was not actually called off. Only when I checked back with them, I received a mail stating "no services required". Needless to say, that month and a half, I was fighting with my own worst fears. I just prayed this to go away. I do not wish that this school happens to you.

The owners (husband & wife team) are on-site. He is friendly, outgoing and makes it a point to know all of the kids and parents by name- the wife, not so much. The old Director & Assistant Director were both very nice - not sure if they've left or have both been on vacation, but the new person that has been there has been really rude, to the point that I have dreaded having to call or go in to the school. The tuition was ridiculously expensive ($986 for part time, M-F 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM), but there didn't seem to be anything more or better than what a "regular" preschool would be doing. They also don't provide lunch, which seems a little unreasonable at that price point. Bottom line - it's just okay. It's overpriced for what it actually is. I'm pretty confident that we can find something just as good, if not better (nicer staff, more welcoming environment) at a more appealing price.

They are all caring, fun and work hard to adapt to children's educational needs and comfort level. Communication is another positive with this school. We are going into his third year of enrollment and I'm constantly amazed at how much he has bloomed and what he has learned in his time there. The teachers are absolute gems, the administration is attentive and personable, and the whole school feels like a community. I love that my son is exposed to things that I can't expose him to on an everyday basis, especially other cultures and traditions. We live about 35 minutes from the school and the commute is totally worth it for the school. I could not have asked for a better fit for our family!

Also, they are associated with Greenwood Forest Baptist church, but it is a non-religious pre-school and GFBC supports LBTQIA and BLM.

Primrose School of Apex and its owner does not care about its students or families. They are…read moreunwilling to work with families if your child is struggling. They do not offer any resources to parents, and you will be treated with callous disregard and asked to leave rather than implement approaches in the classroom to assist all children, particularly hyperactive boys. As a black woman with a biracial child, I also have concerns as to what role racism played in the abominable way my child was treated and asked to leave with no warning. Primrose is by far the worst example I've encountered with any daycare facility. They need to do considerably better in their practices and approaches and start treating ALL children regardless of race as the precious entities they are and not just commodities.
