It's a decent sized pub with a play area for children which is nearly always being used. It's also just had a refurbishment done which looks quite nice, inside and out. The seller for me is that they have 10oz Gammon on their 2 for £10 menu, which I think is great value! Their 2 for 10 menu include some pub classics such as burgers but I have gammon every time just because it's a decent meal.

I've been twice since the refurb, once having the ends of the world burger, and the other time the Sunday roast wrap. Although I thought it was seriously weird to be served with mushy peas (just why, guys?) and the little pigs in blankets looked quite sad compared to the behemoth of the wrap- really, just half would have been sufficient, moist, three different types of meat, veggies and alright chips. The people I've gone with have always enjoyed theirs too, and insisted on the puddings. My lovely friend had the eclair cake, which was just ridiculous, and I wouldn't be surprised if that thing had a pint of cream covering it. I had the hot pudding tower, which was warming and homely and meant not having to choose between sticky toffee and jam roll poly, worked surprisingly well. Recently i've been finally able to eat there and although acceptable it wasn't really that stunning. The price is slightly higher than normal - at around £10 per main course. I ordered mushrooms to start which were very well done, and then for my main course i had vegetarian lasagne with a side order of chips. The lasagne was microwaved with some fresh cheese melted on top to hide the crunchy bits, and the ingredients really didn't justify cost of the item. The chips were not that crisp, and were a little soggy and stuck together. The service was friendly enough, and when asked about the meal when i paid i did say that the lasagne wasn't stunning and the person did look a little guilty. I wouldn't not go there again, but i'd certainly investigate some of the other offerings ironbridge has to make.

We just happened upon it looking for a place for lunch in Ironbridge. Staff was very nice, good beer selection. I got the Black Pudding & Chorizo Beef Burger and my wife got the rump steak. Her steak was excellent: cooked perfectly with a delicious black pepper sauce. The burger I had was one of the best I've ever had. I would have never thought of putting black pudding in a burger, but it really does work! I've never stayed the night here, so I can't speak to that, but everything about lunch was wonderful!

The service was poor, we waited ages to be served, we waited a long time for food. Once the food arrived we were shocked at the portion size for the price we were going to pay. I had to ask for our order to be taken more than once as the waitress had forgotten to come back to us, we complained about the level of service several times and nothing improved due to being short of staff. The maitre'd was of no value in resolving the issues raised and appeared inexperienced in how to deal with a complaint. Really disappointing as i love coming here for the drinks. The only positive thing were actually the drinks they were lovely and arrived promptly. They even gave us hot water with fresh mint leaves for mint tea. Its a shame to say but i wouldn't recommend this place for food. I don't think this is a one off either as after speaking to my friend, she also experienced the same with poor service before! Anyway it all went downhill from there , no horseradish sauce with the wife's beef , a teaspoon of red cabbage , a teaspoon of clotted cream , the mixed berry compote was actually cherry compote, no one came to see if our food was ok , no hand towels or hand dryer in the loo , the people on the next table were told they would have to pay extra for a small jug of gravy as it was " special Sunday gravy " When I left I did tell them what I thought , none of it was personal but the pricing strategy probably explains why there were so many empty tables ? The lady on the till knocked £18 off my bill and apologised but to be honest , we won't be going there again ...... it's not local and situations like this help you choose where or where not to go ..... I have to say again that everything tasted good and looked good but what a shame.

They only take bookings for 6 or more people which is a real pain if you are trying to book in advance. Have turned up there and not been able to get a seat which highlights its popularity.
